NEWS: Sarmad Khoosat retaliates

Last night's episode of Shehr-e-Zaat met with mixed response from one nd all. Some loved the cinematography, some thought too much time was wasted, while some loved everything about it.

However, one thing that caught everyone's attention was Sarmad Khoosat's I-didn't-see-it-coming cameo, and reference to Humsafar. Well, it brought a smile to our face, but some people were offended by the scene, which they considered a direct insult to the mammoth, Humsafar.

Fans bombarded Umera Ahmed's page, blaming her for putting those lines (as she is the writer of Shehr-e-Zaat). The director, Sarmat Khoosat, took time to talk about the issue.

Here, quoting him:

"…so just in case any writer/director got offended by the dialogues when falak (mahira) talks to her mother (hina bayat) about asad (me….the loser rishtay waala larka): 'fuzool dramay dekhta hai woh larka'….. those lines were added by ME….just to add cheesy humsafar reference….. and if it sounded like ridiculing anything i ridiculed my own play (cos i was just being funny and i have a sense of humor and a heart to laugh at myself and i don't take myself that seriously)…..hence UMERA AHMED had nothing to do with that ad-lib ….. i mean she shouldn't be blamed for any offense that it might have made………but seriously, grow up people!"

Well, we think, people need to grow up indeed; however, Sarmad needs to stay grounded too, right people?

people are so ridiculous.
it's funny because Umera Ahmed is the one who told Momina Duraid to base her next drama by a novel of Farhat Ishtiaq. That's how Momina got the idea of turning Farhat's Humsafar novel into a drama. So, why in the world would she make fun of it. 😆

I think people just need a reason to fight, lol, they will make up a Umera Ahmed camp and a Farhat Ishtiaq camp and fight over issues...while these writers might not even have any issue with each others.
And I remember Momina Duraid telling that it was Umera Ahmad who recommended Farhat Ishtiaq. I also remember to have read an interview of Umera where she was asked about which new writers she liked and I think Farhat Ishtiaq's name was in it.
I don't get why people can not take humor light heartedly! I mean...Sarmad is director of both plays...if he wanted to have some selfirony then what is wrong with it? He used his own work to joke around with instead of making fun of some other person's work.
