Esha Deol tied the knot to Bharat Takhtani in a temple this morning. She is now Esha Deol Takhtani.

It was a South Indian style wedding that took place in a Iskon temple. Esha, Hema, Ahana & Bharat are all in Neeta Lulla.

Congratulations to the couple!

Actress Esha Deol, elder daughter of veteran actors Hema Malini and Dharmendra, is tying the knot with her fiance Bharat Takhtani in a traditional south Indian style wedding at a temple in Mumbai as we write.

The parents of the bride, Hema Malini and Dharmendra, were at the temple entrance to greet new son-in-law Bharat.

The guest list includes celebrity friends of the Deols - Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek, Manoj Kumar, and Vyjayanthimala.

Looking radiant in a Kanjivaram sari, Hema Malini said: "It's a typical Hindu wedding."

Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who made a rare public appearance for the occasion, told the waiting reporters: " I have come here as a family friend and to bless the couple." (Photos: Radiant Esha Deol at her mehendi)

New Delhi: Esha Deol's week of wedding celebrations have left us not just with an entire photo album of glittering pictures, but also more than a little bewildered at the inexplicable absence of her older half brothers, actors Sunny and Bobby Deol.

Neither Sunny nor Bobby made an appearance, however fleeting, at Esha's sangeet on Monday, or at her mehendi ceremony on Wednesday. And they were not at her temple wedding to fianc Bharat Takhtani this morning. (Photos: Radiant Esha Deol at her mehendi)

Deol patriarch Dharmendra's private life has been distinctly unorthodox ever since he married co-star Hema Malini in 1980. At the time, Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Deol and their sons, Sunny and Bobby, were over 20 and a pre-teen respectively.

Dharmendra, who converted to Islam to marry Hema, never divorced his first wife and has maintained two separate families ever since. He has two daughters with Hema - Ehsa, 30, and Ahana, 27.

Bollywood lore ascribes much friction between Dharmendra's first family and second, but Sunny and Bobby have popularly been believed to be very fond of their half sisters.

Which makes their absence from the wedding celebrations even more puzzling. Both brothers are expected to attend the grand reception being held tomorrow evening, with Bobby flying home from London in time for the event.

A beaming Dharmendra plays the father of the bride perfectly. He makes a belated appearance at the celebrations, having skipped the sangeet and made an early exit from the mehendi.

Amitabh Bachchan was amongst the early arrivals. Big B, Dharmendra and Hema are old friends as well as old co-stars. Most famously, they appeared together in the landmark Sholay , with Jaya Bachchan.
