I am thinking the same thing. Is it very much like Jane Eyre.
The words they use for the first wife always leaves doubts in your mind. The sister said that your wife is not with you. Vick is the only one who said she is dead and perhaps she is dead to him.
His conversation regarding marrying Sugni is always "some day in future" "when the time is right" "I need time to make sure the time is right"
all this indicate that there is a reason beyond his family why he can't get married right now.
