Forgetting cynics online, I admire the fact that this show ignited debate on female foeticide in real life! People are discussing it everywhere. The smug ones who are too busy in their world of kitty parties or proms are also mulling over the facts shown in Satyamev Jayate.

This is its victory!👏

Also, very happy to know it is indeed being screened in remote villages.👏 That's much better than smartass English news channels which cater only to urban intellectuals looking to watch a fight on issues on a Sunday afternoon!😆

I hope other cynics could also talk about issues raised by the show or do something to work on them instead of mocking the show or its maker for petty reasons.

Waking habits changed. Sunday is keenly awaited now - not just as a holiday but for Satyamev Jayate!

Whether someone acknowledges it or not, Satyamev Jayate has been an excellent example of gathering all forms of media and using it effectively to raise awareness, start a dialogue and call for action on social issues.

Though the show could have done with a few more improvements - such as discussing laws in depth instead of showing 3-4 victims' stories. But it's nevertheless a revolution for Indian media in terms of packaging and reach.

No one expected it to get even this much rating in the moribund Sunday morning slot. But it still managed to get good ratings. And proved Sunday mornings are not all bad slots for TV shows.

I am glad that in some way even critics or cynics are discussing issues and called for an in-depth coverage. It's better than no discussion at all. Every Sunday or so, we even see filmi journos talking about the issue and debating it. A much positive sign than just gossiping.

Its impact may or may not last through entire 13 weeks. But it's appreciable it's lighted a spark somewhere. And for some weeks it made people talk of those issues which they just read about and leave. Or perhaps don't acknowledge their existence at all.

Though I think it could have been more successful had Aamir Khan not taken too much risk with its duration and time slot. A nice effort in a positive direction nonetheless and good use of star power and popularity.

A 15 year old girl's life saved due to Satyamev Jayate!! Her sister called up Childline after watching SMJ, fearing her sister would be trafficked in name of marriage. The girl is now safe thanks to Chidline's intervention! Read story here - https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/satyamev-jayate/2967330/aamirs-satyamev-jayate-impact-in-real-life?pn=8

Kudos to this show and its team! 👏 At least one innocent girl was saved from trafficking. The show's immense reach did do something good in raising awareness and making people more alert!

Hope it continues to perform as per its potential.

National Commission for Women lauds Aamir's show

Jaipur: Appreciating superstar Aamir Khan for raising social issues through his TV serial 'Satyamev Jayate', National Commission for Women's (NCW) chairperson Mamta Sharma today said celebrities should come forward for social issues.

"Aamir Khan began with the issue of female foeticide with special reference to Rajasthan. It is a good beginning because it helps in creating awareness," she said at a seminar in Poornima engineering college in Sitapura area here.

"The government and NGO volunteers have also been making efforts to curb the social evil and their role is definitely prime, but celebrities have their attraction among people which really works," she said.

Mamta said in the seminar, which was organised by NGO 'Message', that the commission launched a 24-hour helpline in Gujarat for women and soon it would be introduced in Haryana and Rajasthan and other states.

Expressing concern over increasing cases of rape and suicide by rape and dowry victims, she said that the cases of rape were on the top of complaints with the NCW these days.

Chairperson of Poornima Group of Institutions, Dr S M Seth emphasised upon empowerment of women in each sector and in the remote areas of the country so as to ensure overall growth of the nation.
