I don't think he's going to die coz the books are different to the show and even if he does then they might follow the book storyline and make him return as human ( I think that's what happened in the book, I haven't read them but heard)

yeah so... hopefully he won't die I mean Stef, Damon and Elena are like the trinagle that connects the show ( lol, that sounds so corny 😛)

Damon DOES die in the books but he comes back alive as a human.
