I always used to wonder why did sati immolate herself?did she immolate herself only because she couldn't tolerate her husband's insults or was there any other reason?
After watching today's episode,i understood the real reason behind her self immolation.Sati was arrogant who was proud to be a Dakshyayini.She fell in love with Shiv and married him.But that pride,that arrogance was still there within her.Bhagwan ko pane ke baad bhi sansaar se moh maya nahi gaya tha.That's why inspite of Shiv stopping her,still she went and attended Daksh's yagya.By not allowing her again and again,Shiv was telling to sacrifice all the moh maya she had for sansar.But instead of listening to Shiv,she questioned Shiv's love and affection.
After reaching the yagya and bearing the insults by her father,she realised what a fool she had been to not listen to Mahadev.She realised that because of her pride,her arrogance,she couldn't understand Mahadev.She felt that her body had become polluted with pride and arrogance so she decided to burn the body.She knew that she will again be born and marry Mahadev again but she has to burn the body full of pride so that it will be a lesson to all the human beings.She proved that you have to keep your heart pure with full of devotion and love for God,then only you can attain moksha.Pride and arrogance will destroy you just like sati.
Parvati was pure in heart,she had no pride.She loved Shiv wholeheartedly.She understood Shiv's love for her and therefore could find him and get to him.
That's why,Shiv and Parvati's story is an eternal love story because their love was pure and true.Sati's love too was true but was impure with pride that's why she could not live with Mahadev for a long time.
I am glad the cvs explained this very well today.
