Yash
"How dare you take Arpita's things? What right did you have?" and then later, "How can you be so insensitive?'
This little gimmick of Aarti's had a lot of us upset. We felt that it was hugely insensitive for her to actually abuse the fact that he had left Arpita's things there and take them. I am glad they explored this because in all the sympathy factor for Aarti's plight today, they didn't forget to bring up this very valid point. What she did was hugely insensitive and if it was wrong of Yash to humiliate her in public, it was also wrong for her to choose to ape Arpita in public which appeared to Yash as though she was abusing Arpita's belongings and identity for her own selfish purposes. I also thought it was a great detail that Yash even shared that he had bought that saree for Arpita and she never got to wear it. Really there was no unsaid information floating around on any count!
"You thought you could dress up as Arpita and take her place? You can't, not in my life and not in my heart!"
It's all about Yash, isn't it? This shows how exclusively he saw Arpita as solely his and explains the lack of other people in most of his flashbacks. To him it doesn't evne figure that Aarti could want to be Arpita for any other reason than to attract (seduce?) him and become his wife in the fullest sense. This was pretty disturbing to me because it revealed just how much Yash's grief is centred around himself. He seems to have no clue the effects it is having on poor Palak and the fact that maybe, just maybe Aarti wanted to be her mother and not his wife. Sheesh. He is a little megalomaniac SP in the making!
"You have been doing this for the past few days and I kept thinking it was a coincidence"
I thought that was a wonderful touch because we discussed this last Monday itself when Aarti sang the bhajan. Yash did not blow a fuse because he couldn't put a finger on what it was that she was doing and why it was reminding him of Arpita. I loved that they acknowledged that and clarified that as well. Very tight show!
"This is Aartiji, not Arpita."
This was of course the iconic loop closure of the name change issue. Yash in no uncertain terms, asserted his sentiments on the issue which he had been skirting so far. He let the Arpita name slide with his family and avoided confrontation over it. Even during the hand chaap scene, if Aarti had put her handprints over Arpita's, Yash would have done nothing but sulk. It was Aarti who had to take the initiative and that got her nothing but ill will from Gayatri. Today, by not supporting him and going against him, though unintentionally, Aarti made it necessary for him to speak for himself. He had to share his pain with every body, something he has been refusing to do.
"Apne mera bharosa thoda"
Aarti has broken Yash's trust by lying to Palak and assuring him that everything would be fine. As much as he was bothered by her taking Arpita's identity, he was upset by the idea that Aarti lied to Palak to get closer to her, when he hates lies (divorce truth reminder = brilliant screenplay!). Before, Yash broke Aarti's trust when he put Ansh's life in danger after assuring her that he would be fine. He gained it by almost sacrificing his life. Aarti will gain the trust back by telling Palak the truth, and eventually the loop might close with the divorce truth coming out.
"I will never forgive Aartiji?"
Oh yeah? Well I will beat her with her own hockey stick if she forgives you for that violent push and that humiliation! Grow up!
Palak
"Papa, you are angry because of my birthday, right? Sorry! I only agreed to celebrate it because she said she would bring my mother"
First of all, Palak cut her cake, so either she bought Aarti's charade or for a minute, Aarti became more important than Arpita for her. She trusted Aarti that Arpita would come, but she wanted Aarti there to cut the cake. It was only when Palak saw Yash angry that she became eager to fix the situation. She read the situation as Yash being angry because of her birthday and that was a tell-tale sign of how he has approached it before and why she really hasn't celebrated it. The day and the celebration make her father sad. So she tries to justify to Yash that she only agreed because step-mummy (excluding her because Yash is angry with her) said she would bring her mother, in short she could have the best of both worlds, her birthday celebration and her father's happiness.
The fact that Yash went back to his pre-wedding style of parenting where he just hugged Palak instead of telling her that he loved her and it was not her birthday that was making him angry. This fit perfectly with what we have all been hypothesising about Palak. How much can she actually remember her mother? Her mother to her represents her father's happiness and THAT is what she wanted for her birthday. It was only when her father stopped being happy that her mother not being there became a lie and a con to her. She was trying to say, Papa, I only agreed to celebrate my birthday because she promised she would bring the one thing that would make you happy. I didn't mean to leave you behind in our mutual grief while I celebrated. I'm sorry! Breaks the heart!
Aarti
I was so happy that they gave Aarti a chance to speak today itself. If this were any other show, Aarti would have been shut up by Yash and not given a chance to speak at all but today she certainly spoke and she said all the things that needed to be said!
"I never meant to hurt you. I only did this to gain a place in Palak and Payal's hearts"
Thank god she got to say this loud and clear so that the whole family could hear her and nobody could doubt her intentions. She got to clearly state her whole plan, and though it was flawed I was glad that everyone standing there got the whole picture, flaws, good intentions and all and they were able to come to their own conclusions. There was drama no doubt, but the drama was propelled by differing perspectives rather than incomplete or misinformation and for that I once again applaud the writers because the scene was so real. Each person had their own valid side of the story and it was given due and unbiased importance.
"This is what the family wanted"
I literally cried out in delight when she said this. She was doing this for Palak and Payal but also so that the family would accept her as a bahu and I am glad she brought up and broadly hinted that this was not entirely her idea but was hugely encouraged by the stimulus of everyone forcing Arpita's identity down her throat. It would have been out of character and mean for Aarti to mention Vidhi's name in particular, but she was a huge catalyst and the fact that Aarti knew this is what the family wanted in addition to it being her shot with Palak and Payal must have spurred her on. I am glad at least in some way, she didn't accept total responsibility for this bizarreness.
Arpita's Mother
"Giving up her identity to win Palak and Payal's love is no small sacrifice"
This is again a point we have been discussing a lot. Although Aarti's methods were wrong, her intention and the distance she was willing to go for Palak and Payal was remarkable! I am glad there was someone as levelheaded as Arpita's mother to point this out. At this point though, Yash can't get beyond Aarti taking Arpita's clothes and jewelry to see what it meant for her, which again emphasises how much about himself he is making this whole situation. But while Yash is in his Arpita-land, the same cannot be said for everyone. They were there to recognise Aarti's sacrifice and her intentions.
SP
"I know you are hurt but her intentions were not wrong. Forgive her"
Don't you just love when he commands his adult son imperiously like that?☺️🤣
This showed the tables of the Scindia parivar turning in Aarti's favour. Yash seemed infuriated that everyone was taking Aarti's side and more and more like a kid who is saying their parents love their sibling more than they do them. But now Aarti has the favour over Yash because I think the Scindia parivar is realising that Yash is crazy, and it is about time they stopped enabling him the way they do. They were against Aarti when they could not perceive her trying hard enough to fit into the family but now that they see her moving heaven and earth (literally with the whole Arpita thing!), the situation becomes clear to them on who the uncooperative, irresponsible half of this marriage really is and it is not Aarti, as they had previously assumed. Good for them for having some sense of principle and awareness of their own family. Sympathy was pouring out of Gaya's eyes today when Aarti slumped to the floor and now with SP's consent I think she will be a valuable support for Aarti in winning Palak, if nothing else, by not influencing her negatively. They are all really beautifully etched characters!
