Chapter One
He watched as Khushi stubbornly fell asleep at last giving into the droop of her heavy eyelids. He positioned her lower onto the bed and made sure her arm was comfortable. He made his way outside to the pool and sat on the lounger looking up at the sky. In the past two weeks a lot had happened. Khushi had rescued him, well he was already on his way out according to his escape plan but nonetheless she had taken the effort to look for him and find him.
Arnav would never forget what happened next. If he had not already caused enough pain and hurt towards Khushi this incident was the cherry on top.
-------
After initially meeting and comforting each other that they both existed and were together they found their way out of the warehouse. Arnav had taken out three of the goons. No one else was around after Arnav checked and they started running through the wooded area toward the road they could hear in the far distance.
"Arnavji you're hurt! Your hand is bleeding. Why did you beat them up when they didn't know we were there? We could have escaped and they would've never known". Khushi was agitated that Arnav didn't bother taking care of himself and especially after the ordeal he'd been through.
"Khushi if I hadn't taken them out then it would have meant they would have found us out again like the last time in the hut. Besides they deserve far worse for daring to even touch you." He looked back disgustedly at the warehouse he was held captive.
"But Arnavji only the one tried-"
"Enough. I don't want to hear about them anymore Khushi. Whatever happened so happened. Let's just try and get back home." He quipped after not wanting to claim he was driven by the madness of love in beating each of the goons into a pulp.
They had just reached the road when they started walking towards main Delhi. There weren't many cars on the road and so far none had stopped to give them a lift. They continued walking when all of a sudden flashing lights and a racing car from behind made them jump into the ditch off the road. As they slowly got up from out the ditch Shyam stood before them pointing a gun at them and smiling.
"Get in the car Saale Sahib and Khushi darling you too", he looked at Khushi lovingly with the sick smirk of lust on his lips.
Arnav looked from Khushi to Shyam and couldn't believe it. Was he right all along? Had she really planned all this with Shyam from the beginning? No! How could she do this to him and after all the love she had showed him in rescuing him and coming after him to save his life.
Khushi slowly got up and left Arnav's side to go stand by Shyam. As he put his left arm around her shoulder Arnav's eyes turned to hard ice and his nails cut into his palms as he tightly clenched his fists.
"So this was it then huh Khushi? You and Shyam got together to take my money and property from me by killing me? Is that it? Is that why you pretended to love me?" That word felt like poison on his tongue.
"Arnav tsk tsk don't be such a baby. You know why I wanted to be with you from the beginning. In fact, you're the one who told me what I wanted from you the first time we met. If you hadn't pointed out what a gold digger I was I probably would've never known. So thank you sweetie. You showed me that being the good girl in life was useless and didn't get you anywhere. Besides I love Shyam and always have since he knows how to treat a lady! He's never given me a reason to hate him unlike you." She looked at Arnav with rage-filled eyes and gave him a sickly bright smile.
Arnav's stomach churned. He had to throw up but since he hadn't eaten in days he was dry heaving. He couldn't stomach the fact that Khushi really didn't love him. He had always thought that maybe somewhere in her she did feel a little for him, maybe not love but she did like him enough to want to spend time with him and tolerate him. He was so wrong. She was suffering though all those moments just so that she and Shyam could get him where they wanted him and then run off with his money after destroying him and his family.
"All right enough confessions. Get in the car Arnav. Darling will you please sit in the back with him and make sure he doesn't try anything. Here here's the gun." As Shyam spoke he handed the revolver over to Khushi and threw Arnav in the back seat of the car. Khushi slid into the back seat while holding Arnav at gunpoint. Arnav searched her ice cold eyes for any love or affection towards him. He never stopped looking into her eyes the whole drive to wherever they were going. Khushi also kept eye contact the whole ride until Shyam stopped the car in the middle of a deserted landfill.
"Come on Arnav. Get out so we can say goodbye." Shyam said as he opened the backdoor waiting for Arnav to step out. Khushi was by Shyam's side and as soon as Arnav stepped out she quickly moved toward Arnav and now pointed the gun at Shyam.
"Sorry Shyam but now you're going to pay for everything you've done. How could you think for even a second that I would love you? Yuck! I want to throw up just thinking about how you're breathing the same air as me let alone me loving you!" Khushi spat out and was ready to continue until she and Arnav were both startled by Shyam laughing out loudly and doubling over due his happiness???
"Oh darling, why? Why would you do this to me? I knew you'd run back to this heartless bas***d even though you acted like we were in this together. At first I was happy and blinded by my love for you. I really believed that you wanted to get back at Arnav and take his wealth and then would want to spend your life with me. But then I heard you and NK talking late one night about how you were going to find "Arnavji" and bring me down. What a silly thing for both of you to be talking about such a matter at home and that too so loudly. How stupid can you be? Khushi you really thought you'd be able to fool me. I love you sweetheart but I know just how smart you are. Anyways, after that I played along with you and now I couldn't be happier. I never signed all the divorce papers you gave me so Rani Saiba will be right where I left her. And who better to comfort her after the loss of her brother and lovely bhabhi?" He laughed manically as Arnav took the gun from Khushi's shaking hands and realized it was way too light. He looked and saw that the magazine was taken out.
"Oh yea, I forgot but that gun isn't loaded" he chuckled while pulling out another gun from his back. "Well I guess there's not much more to say. Oh but I should say before you die otherwise I might be going to hell if I don't" he scoffed and then continued, "Khushi was never at fault for anything and everything she told you about me pursuing her and being a paying house guest and blah blah blah, yea that was all true."
Arnav stayed stone-faced but died a million deaths inside. He couldn't believe it. She was really innocent and he had damned her to hell based on one incident that painted an entirely different story in his treacherous mind. "Shyam do what you have to do" he stated calmly and turned toward Khushi. "I love you Khu-" he started when everything happened in the blink of an eye. She had left his side and was now in front of him and falling to the ground. Time slowed down then as he watched Khushi with closed eyes fall slowly to the ground around his feet. Her kameez was staining quickly with his favorite color. Red.
Red was all Arnav saw when he charged a surprised Shyam. They rolled over and over in the dirt punching and kicking each other. Until finally Arnav took control of the gun and started to hit Shyam repeatedly in the face with the butt of the pistol. Shyam's face was unrecognizable by the time Arnav's mind cleared out of the red haze and he remembered Khushi lying on the floor bleeding. He quickly took Shyam's cell from his pocket and dialed the police. He told them to track the phone since he didn't know his location.
He went over to Khushi. He took her dupatta and wrapped it tightly around the spot where blood was continuously oozing from her upper right shoulder. He then went back and tied up Shyam's hands and feet with the rope from the car before he finally returned to the love of his life. He dropped to the ground by Khushi and took her now cold body into his arms. She was shot. Not dead he reminded himself but nevertheless she was hurt and wounded because of him. Every little thing that caused her pain and misery was largely because of him and his issues of being loved. If'no he wouldn't start to think about all the if's in the past year since he had met her because frankly she was the best thing to happen to him and he knew it. There was no denying it anymore. She was what he needed and he would never let her go.
-------
Khushi spent two weeks in the hospital before she was released to go home. Arnav had made sure she was released as soon as possible to be able to relax and get will in the comfort of her home. However, she was still under the care of a doctor and nurse that would pay daily house visits for another month or so.
He looked back into the room and saw Khushi sleeping soundly; mainly due the medication she was on but at least she could rest without constantly thinking about everything that had happened.
He knew that she was still feeling unsure of him and that was reasonable. He had again failed to believe she didn't have anything to do with Shyam when he had asked her in the hospital a week after she was there if she had loved Shyam. Since then he had been given the silent treatment and it was well deserved.
Khushi couldn't believe her ears. After all that they had been through and her taking a bullet for him he still had the audacity to ask her if she had ever loved the creep that she saved him from. Was this his sick sense of humor? Why was he so dense? She couldn't fathom being with a man who didn't understand her or far worse didn't trust her.
Everything was too confusing. Yes, he was saying that he loved her and that he would fix everything. But how? Pieces of her broken heart were far too many and far too tiny to put back together.

Preview from Chapter Two:
"Why won't you agree to the deal Khushi? Scared?" he said while casually taking a seat on his recliner.
"Scared? Ha! I'm never scared. But let me ask you, haven't we made enough deals Arnav?" she asked back shocked by his mention of making another deal with the woman whom he wronged so much by making a deal with her in the first place.
Guilt, pain, anger, among many other emotions flashed threw his eyes before he settled back on flirty. She saw what her comment had caused him yet she couldn't help but give him a little pain for what she went through.
She felt good when her words hurt him but also sad and mad at herself for causing him the pain. Why was loving him so confusing? It was the hundredth time her mind had asked her that question today.
"So Khushi are you saying no or yes to the deal? What's it going to be?" Arnav said coolly as he looked at a nervous Khushi pacing the floor in front of his recliner.
