I was actually not aware of this section in the forums, its thanks to my dear friend Geetha that I got to know about it. I know its a little late in the day to give the update of the Grand Finale of Indian Idols, but then better late than never. I don't know if anybody else has also updated it but here is my version. I had written this way back in February when Indian Idols ended and had posted it in Yahoo groups.
Though there maybe a few sites giving the details about Indian
Idols, I am giving my version of the grand finale. As I had
promised some friends here is the Ankhon Dekha Haal.In one
sentence Indian Idols was just Mind Blowing, Rocking,
Entertaining,Fabulous, Fantastic…etc.etc.. Please read this in your
leisure time .and I am sorry I just got carried away and went on and
on typing and yes have taken great pains to write it and hope you'll don't get bored and yes it's a labour of my love.😳
The Final show had the cherubic Kajol as its celebrity guest,
besides the judge panel comprising of Anu Malik, Farah Khan and Sonu
Nigam and offcourse the excellent anchors Aman Verma and Mini
Mathur. This time people can cast their vote thru sms till 5th March
morning 9.00 am. Or else the voting could be done only till midnight
1.00 on the day the programme used to be telecast. The voting lines
open the moment the programme goes in air. Sonu, Annu and Farah told
that now it's the matter of luck and Sonu rightly told perseverance
on the part of the people who had the patience to cast their vote.(
Actually this is what I feel is wrong in the whole show. But
ultimately it is offcourse luck which plays an important part of any
person who makes it to the top and the voting system only proves the
fact and undoubtedly these two guys have all the talent ).
Kajol looked slim and ravishing in a yellow sequined chiffon saree
courtesy Manish Malhotra offcourse.Mini too looked charming and so
did Aman Verma.
First of all since it was the grand finale to decide who would
sing first they were going to do a toss and it was done by none
other than the greatest bowler of India Kapil Paaji that's Kapil Dev.
It was done in one of the grounds ( I guess it was Shivaji Park
ground since Abhijeet Sawant told that he had played cricket often
in that ground and it was the first time he was meeting Kapil).
Kapil even taught the two that is Amit Sana and Abhijeet Sawant some
tricks in bowling. He told that he too loved the platform given by
Indian Idols to encourage young talent.Amit Sana ( the engineer from
Bhilai ) wins the toss and Abhijeet Sawant ( Mumbai lad with a great
smile) would sing later.
Before Kajol could enter Aman and Mini tell that for the grand
finale who else could be called other than the powerhouse of talent
herself who has won 3 filmfare awards and in just a few years
captured the hearts of millions. Kajol enters with her cherubic
smile with the lovely number Suraj huwa madhyam playing in the
background. Though she seemed less bubbly then she actually used to
be before. Her brash and bold attitude is still the same and not to
miss her smile and the . When Aman asked her to sing few lines of
the poem which her hubby writes ( yeah Ajay does write poems it
seems), she refused to budge and told Nope nodding her head and told
that she cannot sing and looked so charming when she told that. Mini
told that this is Kajol for you'll Bindaas, Bedhadak as ever.
Then begins the actual show. Which Mini and Aman told would be in
3 parts each of the participants were given some songs to sing.
First comes Amit Sana.
He sings the song……..Zindagi mein kohi kabhi aaye na
Rabba…….fabulous

Annu Malik: Tum A mit gaye waqt nahin ho, Tum gaye waqt nahin ho

Farah Khan: U can see my smile( since she was the one who always
supported Amit throughout it seems) she says u can come out with a
rock show of yours.

Mini Congratulates him and talks to his brother who thanks India
for making him a finalist and tells that its only 30% what he has
performed 70% is more to come once he becomes Indian Idol
Aman tells the next contestant will come to steal our hearts
Then Abhijeet sings : Channa Ve Ghar Aa jaawe, dola we ghar
aajaawe-------superb

Abhijeet Sawant tum pahle bhi mere dil mein yahan the, magar is
baar behadh pyaar se tashrif laa rahe ho, tum itna achha gaa rahe
ho, ki gaate gaate Indian Idol ki Raunak Bada rahe ho
Sonu Nigam:Congratulations, aap finally yahan pe oh, wonderful to
see u doing so well, overall package fantastic.
Farah Khan: something silly she tells, tume yeh nahin na lag rahe
ho tum Indian Idol ban chuke ho, nahin na, All the best
Kajol: You sang a rocking song, fantastic performance
Aman: asks what happened back stage girls were tearing off ur
shirt. So he said no there was a mad rush and the girls were all
falling on me and I was falling on the guards. And that million
dollar smile of his we get to see.
After each round Mini and Aman tell the audience to vote and thru
Nokia we can SMS in Hindi too.
Then the next round in which they had to sing an hero's song
Songs selected by the judges. In fact the songs sung by these two I
liked much much better than the originals I tell you.
In b/w they show their shots taken backstage and both , I mean
all of them are really really down to earth and simple people and
hope they remain that way.
Amit Sana : Title track from Kisna…Who hain albela………who Kisna
hain..( excellently song)
Annu : Muskhil se Mushkil harkath itna asaani se leta hain.
Teri Sureeli Awaaz ka darayi yuh behna laga hain,
Tu Dil banke mere dil mein rahne laga hain
Sonu : happy that India will get fabulous singers. U have to
promise me that next 35 yrs u will sing this well.
Farah : Tells there is one thing I can do. She stands up and
gives a Standing Ovation.Kajol also does the same
Kajol: She tells that I cannot do anything better than that. But
ur performance is mindblowing.
Farah chose the song and gave since she likes the song and knew
that a performer like Amit could sing it well.
Abhijeet Sawant : Mere Khayaalon ki Malikka from Josh…….( again
excellently sung)
Annu : Yeh gaana maine sochke diya., meri film ka gaana, aur
tumne bahut hi accha gaaya.
Dard bandho ko teri awaaz ne pukaara hain, is bari mehfil mein har
kohi tumhara hain,
Vote tume milenge yeh daawa hain mera, teri sureeli awaaz hi
besahaaro ka sahara hain.
Sonu : Indian Idol ke bare mein sab apna view dete hain, aapki
smile, personality andaaz ko pasan karte hain, meri problem hain ki
main looks ko sab nahin dekta , mere liye awaaz aur sur hi important
hain, and u were fantastic
Farah tells second performance was much better than first
Kajol tells the song as it is was good but u have song fabulously.
Abhijeet's dad also thanks India and tells ab tho mehfil ko tho
usne jeet liya hain.. all of them applaud when Aman repeats it.
Then next round both sing a new song and different tune.
Annu: Unfamiliar gaana dil ko chu liya, and u did not waver in ur
tune when people clapped and that means u r made of steel , ke tumne
meri shaayari bhula di………loud applause.
Sonu : Mr. Sana you have proved that you are a good singer,
inspite of this being a new composition and only avery good singer
can sing.
Farah: tells aaj jis tarah se tumne gaaya hain, maine Annuji aur
sonu se seekha hain ki Singers mein Saraswatiji baste hain, aaj
aapki aawaaz mein Ramji, Krishnaji, Vishnuji , Lakshmiji sab basse
hain
Kajol : tells after very long I am hearing something so fine,
Thank you Amit.
Kapil they show who teach these guys to bowling. He blesses both
of them and wishes good luck for Indian Idols and tells that its not
a small achievement and tells hope future also kids get encouraged.
Then comes Abhijeet and sings same song in a different tune.
Annu : You have a Heroes voice . Sonu I say has got an Heroes
voice and after him I can say that for you.
Ishq ka Nagma, Ishq ki dhun, Jab Abhijeet Sawant ka awaaz yahan
par hain, tho kohi aur awaaz na sun
Sonu : After so many months this is the last analysis we can do
in terms of competition, wonderful performance, now lets see how it
goes
Farah : says full marks on the last performance
Kajol : You have such style, full marks for presentation and
bringing the song up
Aman tells now u smile u will automatically be flooded with votes.
Then Aman tells You can create history by mobiles and land line
phones till 5th March morning.
Next full week They perform in the most happening places in
Mumbai. From now onwards its war. Kajol comes on stage and they tell
her to share her views.
She tells both are fabulous and you'll are so very talented. If
you give it your 100% in any performance that is what is required
out of Indian Idols. She tells I want a song from these two as my
present and offcourse they sing Suraj huwa madhyam….Kajol's smiling
and angelic face it ends.
Campaigning:
The whole of this week they performed at some of the most
happening places in Mumbai.First of all they got to perform at the
Filmfare awards where they met lots of people and especially Lata
Mangeshkar and Amitabh Bachchan. Malls like Nirmal Lifestyles,
Crossroads, Fun Republic, etc etc. In between they had gone to
Kolkata, Delhi and even Ahmedabad where they were all surrounded by
mad frenzy crowds cheering them and wanting to be close to them,
offcourse these guys had tight security wherever they went. On
Friday that was their last day of collecting votes they performed at
Velocity a place in Mumbai where most of the celebrities come to
chill out. Most of Sony folks were present including the CID Team,
Yeh Meri life hain's Pooja and Ronit, Shakti Anand and his wife Sai,
Rajeshwari with her husband Varun and offcourse Sony's CEO Tarun
Katiyal who leaves no stone unturned to promote all his shows just
like Ekta Kapoor. And the best part of both these channels that is
Sony and StarPlus , especially Sony is that all the programmes are connected in some way and they are like one big family.It really feels nice.
In between the shots the anchors or the pariticipants and even in
between the serials they keep mentioning about some show or the
other and that is something really unique and original. And all
these contestants were genuinely down to earth and not show offs
unlike most of the zee india's best contestants.
Now comes the Grand Result Day:
This was a special 2 hour programme from 8 to 10.00
Mini and Aman looking so elegant. They tell that about 4 crores of
votes they had received in one week. And tell that now the day has
arrived before that there is a big surprise for all. And the
surprise is that the 10 contestants who made it to the finals come
on stage and sing the song which they had last sung on the show.
Vishal Kothari sings oh no I forgot that song: Ok here it is
Jeene Ke Hain Chaar Din, Baaki Sab Bekaar Din...
Amit Tandon : Mujhse shaadi karogi title song ( he has got a
chance in Ekta's serial)
Rahul Saxena : who gets a thunderous applause sings Hum dono
jaisa hain kaun yahan ( one of my favourites)..( Farah has given him
a chance to sing in her next film)
Harish Moyal : sings Ankhon mein sapne liye…ghar se hum chal do
diye…
Mukesh Pancholi : the guy who always raises his hand towards the
sky sings Mere Saamne wale khidki mein…
Aditi Paul : cute girl sings Yeh Duniya Ek Dulhan…..
Ravinder Ravi : A painter by profession sings Janam Janam ka
saath hain nibhaane ko…
Prajakta Shukre : A gorgeous girl , sings Is mod pe jaate hain…
Rahul Vaidya : who made it till final three sings : Suraj Huwa
Madhyam…
All of them gave a mind blowing performance and all of them
including the judges, anchors and audiences got emotional seeing all
of them once again and the anchors screamed We Love You All.
Then backstage they showed Anuradha Paudwal, Suresh Wadkar,
Jackie, Shabana, Sharmila, Karan,Mahima, John, Roop Kumar, Rajesh
Khanna, Rahul Khanna, Priyanka, Amitabh, Jaya, Abhishek, Neha Dhupia
and many many more giving out some messages and wishing the two
contestants.
They show parents of both the finalists. Aman tells Abhijeet's
parents if they had gone to Siddhi Vinayak Temple as usual.
Abhijeet's Grandmother was also asked to tell a few words and she
spoke in Marathi after Aman prompted her to speak.
Amit's Parents and family had come all the way from Bhilai to be
with their son.
Then both came isthyle mein.
Amit Sang : Papa Kehte hain..
Abhijeet sang : Sitaron ki mehfil …

Amit thanks the judges and so does Abhijeet.
Mini and Aman ask Farah how did she feel on seeing them perform at
the filmfare awards. Farah told that she felt like a proud parent
and told that Mere Do Anmol Ratan, Ek hain Ram aur Ek Hain Lakhan.
Aman told that we will miss Annu Malik's Shaayari to which Farah
told he will call u daily and tell you.
Annu had to tell his shayari it being the last day and he told Yeh
Khatam kabhi nahin ho sakta and tells his shayari
"Maana is raat Indian Idol ho rahan hain khatam, Lekin hum teeno
kar rahe hain yahin jatan, Indian Idols he zariye nachaate rahenge
saara Vatan"
Sonu first of all congratulates the singers and tells that he
thanks GOD that he is present at such a mahatvapurna lamha and is
happy seeing all of them.
Then they show flashback where the contestants who most of them
came from not so well to do families had come forward for this show.
They show Amit and Abhijeet also at the beginning how they entered
into this contest and the rounds that took place, how many were
selected etc etc.
Then all the 10 contestants had recorded for an album composed by
leslie lewis and Raju singh and they sing that song Hum Rahein ya na
Rahein kal…..All the 10 of them were dressed in black apart from the
finalists.
Then they show the campaigning which was in 4 cities and they met
the media people and through video conference met media people from
16 places at one time.
Then Amit Sings the Kissna song – And Aman and Mini tell that
bahut saare bhaalaye is kissna ke peeche pad chuki hain.
Then Abhijeet sings Mere khayalo ki malika..
Aman and Mini tell that what a response, adbuth deewanapan dekhne
ko mila.
Annu tells that nowadays jo dikhta hain, who bhiktha hain and
thanks to the exposure given by the media these people are watched
by crores of people.
Sonu tells that its like a Snake and Ladder game and these people
got to go to the highest rung, he tells that if it was 2 yrs before
then he would have been amongst those contestants standing with
them. And Farah tells that they are already superstars and only
those who work consistently can be called a super star and they have
to remember that.
Then the final muqabla where both the guys come and sing
jugalbandi. Songs from Dil Chahta hain, Hum Kisise kum nahin, Rocky,
Josh etc.
Then the final countdown and Mini and Aman tell that all these
days have taken a toll on these guys and so SOTC has arranged for a
trip for them with their families to Switzerland…wow.
And then Mini and Aman announce the results. Suspense still
prevailing. They tell that the persons name starts from A and intial
is A S which both of them have and then the result and the winner is
ABHIJEET SAWANT who is the FIRST INDIAN IDOL………crackers and music ………
all of them rejoice. Amit too gets emotional and Abhijeet sings a
final song and he also tells Amit to join him and all the 10
contestants lift both of them and Annu , Sonu, Farah do the honours
of giving the prizes to Abhijeet and Aman and Mini hug both of them
………and the show ends………….👏
Thoroughly entertaining, with so much curiousity, anxiety ,
rejoicing going on everywhere and first of its kind in Indian TV and
clearly a No.1 show. We are surely going to miss it.
