Part 1:
Tick Tick Tick tick
The keyboard on which Virat was currently typing on caused an annoying noise that echoed throughout his room, a noise that only those people would recognize who've had the experience of facebooking at the dead of the night dreading getting caught by a family member unawares. Virat stopped and listened. If his elder brother, Viren, heard the noise, Virat would end up getting a rather huge lecture, and the immensely monotonous company of his brother for the rest of the night, as his brother would sit beside him and baby-sit him till he was asleep. And he, Virat, was twenty two, definitely not a baby right?
Virat was the head of the cultural committee of his college, Jain Institute of Science and Technology, JIST to be short. He was tall with a medium built, not too thin, not too puffed up. His hair that once used to lie flat on his cute head, now lay shabbily unsettled. He had a habit of wearing formal clothes, as that he assumed was what suited him best and his frameless spectacles on the near edge of his nose.
He dint have a high power on his spectacles, but he still liked wearing them. He thought it gave him something of a charm.
It was almost morning when Virat closed his laptop and lay his shabby head on the fluffy pillow. Bliss. That was what he felt. Undeniable Bliss. It was a sudden relief from the backache he had been having all night because of lying on his chest as he sat facebook-ing on his laptop.
He closed his eyes, and sleep immediately took over his senses.
It seemed hardly a few minutes before his mum, Vanshika, came into the room, all dressed and ready. She put down Virats favourite coffee mug that had a picture of pizza on it and began to try and wake him up. And as was his mothers habit, she kept trying to wake him up, till he finally dint open his rather red eyes to face her. And after committing the hugest felony, his mum just left, busy with kitchen work she said as Virat subjected his face to an annoyed expression.
His house was just ten minutes from the college. He got ready and rushed downstairs towards the auto rickshaw stand.
He reached exactly on time, on target with no sign of tiredness on his fresh energetic face. He was the perfect guy.

A few hours ago,
Tring Tring Tring tring.
Manvi Chaudhary threw her alarm clock into the desk drawer and sank right back into a soothing dream, until, her sister, Jeevika screamed at the top of her voice.
"Mannu! Uth gayee?"
"Haan di. Bas uth gayee. Ek second." Manvi whispered through her sleepy eyes.
"Mannu? Mannu? MANNU?" Her sister's voice kept getting amplified until the point when Manvi's bedroom door banged open and even though her sister did not say a word, Manvi could feel the tension ring a warning bell through the room.
Manvi instantly got up, got out of her blankets and turned to face her sister. Manvi was a short and a rather cute eighteen year old girl with a feather cut with flicks ranging from her left side, her messy hair covering her small eyes that looked red and extremely tired even as she tried her optimal best to look fresh and alert.
Jeevika frowned at her sister as she threw an extra pillow onto Manvi's bed.
"Mannu. Train hai aadhe ghante mein. And tu abhi bhi so rahi hai?" Manvi stared around at everything but her sister as her sister pushed her into the bathroom droning on the background. "phir exact 8 baje ready hoti hai. Train miss ho gayee to college kaise jayegi?"
Manvi stared at her sister with her sleepy eyes.
"Uth gayee na baba. Ab jao. Mujhe ready hone do" Manvi groaned as she pushed her laughing sister out of the room.
"Mannu phirse so mat jaana!" Her sister's voice sounded from the other side of the door, Manvi giggled and locked the door.

First day back had to be the best ever, thought Manvi as she sat on the second last bench in the corner row of her large air conditioned classroom with her two close friends, Pallavi and Palak. Palak was a sindhi just like Manvi, and hence had loads in common with Manvi. Pallavi on the other hand, although not as close to Palak and Manvi as they were to each other, was extremely close the duo. Among them they said Manvi was the one who was outspoken, easy to talk to, great dressing sense, sarcastic and unimaginably funny. Palak on the other hand was pretty, sweet, enigmatic, and a bit quiet. Palak did not befriend many, but those who she befriended were just simply special. She had a kiddishly adorable, sweet and wacky sense of humour. And Pallavi on the other hand, was simply different. She was a kind of a girl next door. No attitude, no sarcasm as such, adorable, cute and sometimes not very caring about how she looked unlike Manvi and Palak, who spent their days in the washroom, droning on about how they looked or how they should do their hair today, or maybe how annoyingly oily their hair looked.
Their teacher had not yet come, as was the case usually with the teachers of JSIT on the first day back. None of them realized that the college was open again, and in the end when the kids have to be studying for their finals, the teachers decide it's the perfect time to cover up for their missed lectures and decide on taking extra lectures.
Manvi sat on the table wearing a blue colored top and a jeans, with her hair left open. Her eyes were glued on to her phone in a horrific trance. She read the message and gulped. It was from a member of the Cultural Committee, Gautam Matharu, a stern and paranoid member who was responsible for the event management.
Hey Member, We have a meeting today at 4 30, after college. Be there.
-Gautam
Manvi turned her around to face Palak and Pallavi as her face turned blue.
Manvi was in her first year and her college had the trimester system, that meant that their academic year was divided into three trims consisting of three months each. She was currently studying in the second trim, first year. And since that uneventful date in her first trimester when she had been selected in the cultural committee, she had never bothered seeing anyone from the cultural committee. Meetings were a far off dream.
"Dude you have to go!" Palak replied after reading the text.
"But I'm so scared Palness. They'll all be seniors, the whole lot of them."
"So what Manvi? You cant keep avoiding the meetings like this. You shouldn't have joined if you weren't planning on going for the meetings at all."
"Excellent idea! I'll quit!"
Manvi's face immediately brightened with the thought. Palak frowned.

4:27, 37 seconds
Manvi sat in the washroom, combing her hair and getting ready to give a good first impression. Her face was red from the tension, she'd been biting her nails all afternoon about the evening's meeting. She wasn't sure whether she would be able to handle it. What if they were all rude snobbish seniors? She remembered her interview.
There had been 3 people in the room. One guy and two girls. The guy looked smart with a weird boyish charm. The girl sitting beside him was way prettier than Manvi any day. She was about Manvi's height with the perfect face and the perfect hair. She had an extremely arrogant air about her. And behind them sat another girl who's face Manvi could not see.
The statement of purpose (S-O-P) that she had submitted for the interview now seemed so stupid as she sat infront of this cute looking guy.Manvi prayed to god that he wasn't about to pick her SOP up and read it out loud. To her relief, he dint.
But as stupid as she was, Manvi simply blurted it out.
"I dint know how to write an SOP."
The cute guy looked at her through his spectacles.
"What post are you applying for?" he had a strange smile on his face.
"Creative. For poster making." Manvi replied, trying to keep her cool.
"Okay. Heres a question for a poster I want you to make. On the basis of this poster we'll let you know whether you're in or out. I want this poster on my email id by tonight nine sharp." The guy said handing her a piece of paper.
And then he looked back down at his book, busy making notes.
Manvi took it as a cue and left.
Manvi was standing right outside the room where the meeting was supposed to take place, and boy, she was scared as hell. What was she going to do? She was already late. She could see through the door that the meeting had already started. She nudged the door open, causing a strangling noise. Manvi closed her eyes to keep the noise out and walked in. Her eyes first catching a familiar brown eyes that were smiling at her with a weird curiousity. She looked away and took a seat on the corner row second bench. Her heart brimming with a stupid excitement, the cute guy had smiled at her.
