Hi Munni, and the rest of the forum,
I can honestly see your viewpoint here, for top Executives at Star Plus, Rashmi Sharma Telefilms production to see things our way we need to find their weakness and push those buttons.
The reason the strike action against the government in India is not working is; firstly the public have not worked together with unity and realise it's going to take time to change things, that they can't return to normalcy after one effort. Lastly, they did not explore the weaknesses of the government and push those buttons, Strong will of the protesters and unity and the ballot box, remove the government, organise yourselves an opposition government that has your agenda to change things. Opposition says all the right things gets in government and does the same as previous governments. Impeachment proceedings are there for a reason, have a parliament of Integrity to see it through. An example of this was with the miners strike in the UK, they brought down the Heath government of the day to it's knees, it took months, it was not done in one day. What did we learn from the miners in the UK, they stayed united.
Back to the problem at hand here. A protest which results in adults and children going to their offices for a day and the following day back to watching Star Plus programs, paying subscriptions obviously will not work. As the revenue Star Plus is getting from their programming is their weakness.
Many people that march on protest are happy to go along for the ride as it's exciting a small thrill for the day but the next day they want to get back to normality as a result they loose sight of their objectives or find excuses to do so. This is what I learnt from our own India-Forums strike against the ranking system.
People were all ready to protest initially but I had people with different agenda's, some working for India Forums they angle was gaining revenue from the channels to create tellybuzz and manufacture rankings on that, some working for Star plus that they agenda was to get rid of pay structure , IPKKND fans who didn't want to loose they position as number 1 on India forums, some for the production house who wanted us to increase number genuinely or with fake id's to push IF, some thrill kalakarians and thrill seekers were up to being jokers and wanted to have a laugh, all with India Forums Id's either pestering me or sabotaging the strike effort.
So with petitions and complaints it's up to the individual to choose what they want to do, and when questioned to give a simple answer I'm doing this because I believe it's right. So everyone should do as they please, no-one must be forced or do this under any duress.
In the UK when someone is upset, we say can I speak to the manager to lodge your complaint and walk out of the store, or you write a letter, paper copy that you can refer to later on. Enough people can pushed around and we all lodge complaints someone with financing goes and opens a new store and we all go there and abandon the place we hated. Then you get the original ones trying to entice you back with better offers, lowering the cost.
So protests do work, but you've got to explore weaknesses and hit them where it hurts.
