TERI MERI KAHAANI
The age of thirteen. It's the beginning of teenage. New developments take place. One tends to come out of their childhood. The sweet age of thirteen is the age when gets to know about new feelings, emotions and one becomes an adolescent. The beautiful feeling of first crush and love. When our heart says to us "kya karu? Kuch kuch hota hai" The small groups of girls discussing the hottest guy in the class and the gang of boys fantasizing their hot shot teachers. Its so much fun'. But some people do get their life partners at the age of thirteen.
It was 7th of April. A girl of thirteen was standing outside the lancers convent school Prashant Vihar New Delhi. Dressed in light blue cotton shirt and a dark blue skirt, hair tied in a neat and clean pony and two tic tac pins. She was nervous and clutching her elder sister's hand.
"don't worry khushi. You'll enjoy yourselves. Its your first day. Don't be scared. And remember I am here with you. I am sure you'll make loads of friends."
She smiled lightly. "but di I am a weak late and probably I'll be lagging in the class and how could I study when I have missed the beginning classes?"
"don't worry. Just make sure you copy the work and I'll teach you that later at home. And now lets get going or we'll be late."
Khushi walked behind her di. Payal Gupta was khushi's elder sister and was in class 11. She was one of the toppers of the previous batch. She had opted for non medical stream and was adored by her teachers. Payal made sure khushi entered her class. Khushi was new to delhi. She had completed her studies till 6th standard in lucknow and because of some problems she had come to delhi. She was hesitant to join new school so she skipped the first week of the class. She was exactly on time as soon as she entered the class room the bell for the first period rang. Still hanging her blue bag she scanned the classroom for an empty seat. She located one. the window side row second bench. One black bag was lying on the table and the other side was empty. Quickly khushi placed her bag and went to sit there. Soon the class teacher entered and all the students stood up to wish the teacher.
"good morning teacher."
"good morning students. Please sit." Scanning the classroom. "so students we have a newcomer here. I want all of you to meet her." Khushi was slightly embarrassed. The teacher called her near the board and told her to introduce herself.
"hie I am .." and she was interrupted by two loud "may I come in's?"
The teacher looked at the door and motioned them to enter. "anurag and arnav you both are late. Why are you boys breathing heavily.?"
"who ma'am ' arnav and I had the race from the school '.. ground to the class room'.thats why."
The teacher smiled and told them to sit on their seats. "khushi you can continue."
"hie I am khushi gupta. " saying so she went to sit on her bench which was now occupied.
"ok students get ready for your attendance. Roll no1.?"
"hie I am arnav." Khushi looked at his side and smiled. "so which was your last school?"
"st.peters convent in lucknow."
"roll number 11"
"present ma'am"
"oh great."
Anurag who was listening to the conversation turned 360 degrees and extended his hand. " hie I am Anurag. Anurag Singhal. Arnav's best friend and your new friend number 2."
"hie Anurag."
Just then the girl sitting with Anurag turned back.
"shut up Anurag. Arnav and me are best friends. Don't poke your nose between our friendship. Hie Khushi. I am Nidhi and nice to meet you."
"hie Nidhi."
And when the attendance finished. Miss Mini stood and looked in the direction where the four were chatting.
"Nidhi and Anurag you guys should show Khushi our school in break."
"sure miss." Both spoke out in unison and began laughing.
"enough of you two."
"Now class open up your science textbooks. Khushi we are on chapter 1 last page. You are free to come in any of your free periods and ask for doubts. Otherwise Nidhi will help you."
"yes ma'am"
The class started studying. Khushi who was not following anything started watching outside.
"don't look outside or ma'am will throw you outside" hissed Arnav.
"I am not following anything" whispered Khushi.
"don't worry I'll give you my notes and its just 15 minutes more. Then the period will be over."
Khushi smiled at him. The first day was definitely great. She made three new friends. And they seemed helpful. Thankfully the period got over. And the second period was of English. English was her favorite subject. She liked languages. And the English teacher, Miss Charu seemed nice. She instantly liked her teacher. The topic was tenses and Khushi was answering quickly and the teacher was impressed even her new friends.
Next period was sports. The sports teacher Mr. Vikas Saxena was a young teacher. He was attractive and extremely fit. Nidhi told Khushi that they had to choose a particular sport that they have to play throughout the year and would get evaluated. And if played well from next year onwards would get to play for school team.
"Khushi I have opted for badminton. And Anurag and Arnav play basket ball."
"and Nidhi those girls who are sitting near canteen?"
"Khushi they don't play. They are the gossip girls of our class. Vikas sir doesn't like girls sitting idle. And you know our sir can play any game and know the rules. He is very sharp and quick. Hey I forgot to ask which game will you chose?"
"hmm I like basketball. But there is no girl. Then I think I'll take badminton."
"oh ho you are stupid. Why don't you want to take your favorite sport for such a lame excuse? Come lets go to Vikas sir. He'll help you out."
She took Khushi's hand and began running to the Vikas sir's room.
"may I come in sir?"
"ya sure Nidhi. Hey you are the new comer Khushi Gupta right?"
"yes sir" spoke Khushi and then Nidhi started her babbling.
"sir she wants to take basketball but is not taking because there is no girl'.. and she continued.
Vikas sir had to literally put his hand on her mouth to shut her up. Seeing this Khushi laughed.
"of oh Nidhi you speak too much."
"sorry sir" said Nidhi sheepishly.
"oh Khushi you have to opt for a sport of your choice. If you like basketball you choose that and I will make sure you are comfortable with the boys there and if you face any problem I am here only."
"thank you sir. I guess I will opt for basketball."
"that's good. By the way you are payal's sister right?"
"yes sir."
"And you live in agroha kunj apartments?"
"How do you know sir?"
"Actually I am your neighbor."
"Oh" was all she could say.
Nidhi took Khushi to the basketball court. The game had already begun. Anurag and Arnav were in same team.
"Nidhi aren't they inseparable types?"
"Yes they are. Hey you never told me you lived in rohini? I mean I live in apartment next to yours. And Anurag lives in your apartment."
"Oh really? Actually I am new to Delhi just a week old. I still miss my Lucknow friends. "Tears began to form in her eyes.
Nidhi tightly hugged Khushi. "Hey I am there for you. We'll rock it girl."
"Oh ho bharat milap in female version going on?" Anurag commented seeing them hugging. Hearing such a comment Arnav busted into laughter and then the others joined too.
"Arnav she will also play basketball with you and Singhal."
"Anurag she will be the first girl to join isn't it?"
"yes. Hey Khushi I think you must have loads of pending work. If you need any help we'll help you. "
"ya sure Anurag. I think I'll take your notebooks from your home itself. Nidhi just told me we live in same apartment."
"oh that is great."
The four of them chatted till the sports period got over. It was her first day and it had been great. And she had made wonderful friends and friendships that would last forever.
