Every actor wants to essay a variety of roles and Gaurav Gera is no different. After portraying the simpleton Nandu in €˜Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin€™, he€™s now playing the funny Gujarati guy in €˜Ishq ki Ghanti€™ (SAB) to air this week.
€œThe show is a perfect blend of subtle and double-meaning humour. It€™s not over the top, yet it€™s an out and out comedy. It doesn€™t pretend to give you a message,€ Gaurav enthuses.
So what made him take up the role? €œInitially, I was a tad apprehensive about venturing into a full comedy show. But then I took it up as a challenge. I€™m sure the audience will like this avatar as well!€ he replies.
What€™s more, it€™s the first time that the bachelor€™s playing a married man. €œYes, I play Dhoklabhai, a married Gujarati guy. Actor Ada plays my wife. But luckily, I have not been asked to put on a Gujarati accent!€ he notes.
That said, Gaurav doesn€™t want to get slotted into any category. €œI don€™t think I€™ll sign any other comedy. I am game for a saas-bahu soap, provided my role is well-defined,€ he asserts.
Gaurav€™s also doing well on the film front. €œI have made inroads into Bollywood by signing a few films. Firstly, there€™s a cameo in an untitled Sanjay Gupta film that I€™m really excited about; followed by €˜Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar€™ where I play a Paris-based painter. The going is good for me!€ he notes.
