I've been reading all kinds of reactions for Satyamev Jayate and Aamir Khan online and in papers. This simple show on social issues is being dissected and suspected, closely monitored as if it is some threat!🐷
Everyone from a kid to housewives to journalists to other professionals - with a mind and a mouth to speak has offered their vishesh tippani on this. Some stuff made me wonder what are we doing as people?
- The main point which everyone raises to object at Satyamev Jayate is what right does Aamir Khan have to talk about issues being a film star? He has no knowledge, he is little educated, etc., how dare he say this, how dare he say that. Now someone please tell, you guys keep blogging or ranting away on forums about everything from serials to films to technology, politics etc. - does any of you have complete expertise on field you talk about? We are raising fingers at Aamir Khan now for speaking on X, Y, Z issue. Tell me, have we ever thought how much we know of filmmaking and cinema that we rant on films and actors all the time?
- We can't tolerate Aamir Khan talking about issues or corrupt people. Want apologies for X, Y, Z comment. Have we ever thought how loosely we talk about actors, filmmakers and their careers/personal lives?! We gossip about how someone is having affair or had a plastic surgery - as if we know them personally and we know it for sure that whatever we are saying is right! 🤢
Some doctors even made defamatory remarks and cooked lies about Aamir Khan's family just to protest against him on Facebook. Was this a way to protest? Rather, shouldn't Aamir Khan haul you up for making shitty remarks about his kids even? Amitabh Bachchan once got a crap Twitter account reported to cyber police because that person used to tweet crap to him and write filthiest stuff about his family. 🤬
We want celebrities to take care of our sentiments, have we ever been sensitive while talking about anyone?! Till date, people discuss the deceased Madhubala's ''spicy'' love life! Or relish stories of Amitabh-Rekha ''affair''. We are ready to believe Stardust as gospel truth. Stuff like Zoom or Stardust thrives due to us! But we are angry if Aamir Khan narrates stats about some social issue and even brings experts in panel discussion. Victims, experts in Aamir's show are liars. But yes, gossip about film industry on Zoom is true!
- Online people even allege X actress made it only because she slept with every co-star or Y actor is bisexual, Z actor's happy marriage is a facade - his wife is otherwise very unhappy with him etc. We talk so badly about film industry without even knowing anything. But we expect our professions to be portrayed in ''good light'' or consider all sides before making argument? Or is it that actors deserve NO respect and only other professions should be respected?
- Isn't it funny how earlier people were saying Satyamev Jayate is nothing new, it's like We The People or Crime Patrol etc. But I wonder why no one ever asked Barkha or WTP to apologise for highlighting an issue or examined personal life or knowledge of the anchor of Crime Patrol (he also divorced his wife, so much for Anup Soni preaching about women's rights in Crime Patrol or Balika Vadhu, since divorce is a ''crime'' according to haters and divorce means ''deserting'' wife!)! 😆
To run down Satyamev Jayate and dismiss it, we took examples of many other ''similar'' shows. But to take offense, we look at Satyamev Jayate only. So expose of medical malpractices by Hindustan Times and CNN-IBN did not warrant apologies (even though they never showed positive examples to balance it unlike Satyamev Jayate). But one episode of Satyamev Jayate insulted all doctors and an apology, sustained protest against the show and Aamir Khan are a must! 🤪 What hypocrisy is this?
- We never questioned whether Zindagi Live or We The People raise donations for victims or why doesn't its anchor do it all for free. But we are mocking Aamir Khan and his team for Satyamev Jayate, despite the fact that they are also raising lakhs of rupees in donations (could have been more if people had donated) and so much crucial awareness! We never expected makers of Crime Patrol to show all sides of a case or do charity. But we accuse Satyamev Jayate of generalising things or ask why they didn't show both sides (like Komal's family who supposedly tortured her or doctor who did operation without consent in case of victims in previous episode)! SMJ is already doing charity but still we think it's all money making crap.👎🏼
- We hate SMJ for tears and tear-jerking content. But L-O-V-E watching wailing in saas-bahu TV shows and tear jerker films made by likes of Sooraj Barjatya!
- We say Satyamev Jayate didn't tell us anything we didn't know. Oh really? Do you think this show is only for educated elite on Twitter or blogosphere who ''know everything''? And if they know everything, then why don't they discuss issues in routine, take debate further, look for solutions even without an SMJ? Why spend all time tweeting silly jokes?!
- Stories of positive impact of Satyamev Jayate are either ignored totally or people dismiss by saying it is not enough, we need more! 🤢
You want all job to be done by Satyamev Jayate only?! A TV show helped save 2 kids lives from child abuse after people came to know of details and how to seek help, from its episode. Is it not a good achievement? A bill got passed. But yes, people think it's not enough since the bill has not become an act and it's yet to be seen if law will be implemented or not!🐷 Cynics either say story of impact was false or coolly declare - ''Not enough. Need more.'' 🤣 Why don't you take the movement forward? Will we always remain viewers who sit on our butt and only pass remarks? Not do anything?!😡
- Aamir Khan uses glycerine. Okay. Are tears of Zindagi Live anchor real? Is righteous expression of Crime Patrol anchor natural, is it not acting?😡 SMJ is copy of X, Y, Z show. Isn't Crime Patrol a 5th/6th copy of 90s show India's Most Wanted? Suddenly they become fans of CP! CP's originality is never questioned. SMJ's originality is in question!🤡
- Is it a joke or what? One politician is after Satyamev Jayate and Aamir Khan for ''defaming'' their state. Other politician wants to award him Bharat Ratna!🤪 So it means people are only quick to judge the show and looking for excuses to jump on it?!
Recommend awards to Aamir if he showed something you liked. Or defame him in national media for being enemy of your state! Forget and sidestep the issues completely, use Aamir Khan for your shitty political agenda! 😡
- Even in last week, issue of medical malpractices and provision of affordable healthcare to poor people has been neglected. All brouhaha is about Aamir Khan lying, telling truth, doing show for good cause or doing it for money - same argument about Satyamev Jayate being some fraud or some genuine effort!🤢 The reactions of people and stoning/extolling Aamir Khan since he's a soft target cum commodity (on whose popularity opportunists can ride on) and IGNORING issues shows our petty mentality as people. Cleverly doctors and pharma companies have made issue of Aamir defaming their ''entire'' community (though he never did so) and diverted attention from the issue or its solution.
Shame on IMA for not demanding action on corrupt doctors or even decrying those malpractices but childishly ''threatening to boycott Aamir's films''!🤣 🤪
So it's not about issues? It's about Aamir or threatening to file case against him or boycott his films? LOL!!👏
- We as people have become so cynical that some of us are calling even victims on the show as paid actors, mouthing scripted lines and even calling all NGOs supported by Satyamev Jayate as fraud!!😲 Some of those NGOs have won prestigious national and international honours for their good work. But now, those NGOs are ''fraud''?! 🤬 Arrey sharam kar lo! Hatred for Aamir Khan or cynicism about celebrities in general shouldn't mean you flush your brain down the toilet?!🤪
- People are so damn concerned about Aamir's fees or STAR's earnings. Why not concern for issues and victims? Why not gather and donate to NGOs and help them make even more crores than what SMJ makers get?
- Has anyone wondered how much mileage, awards and extra promotions/salary Barkha got from coverage on Kargil but how widows and families of that war's martyrs are still rotting in obscurity?!! No one raises questions at her. But go ahead and shoot Aamir Khan! Journalists like P. Sainath are doing real work and struggling, focusing on villages and real India, traveling sometimes even by foot to highlight truths about remote villages. Whereas all Barkhas, Rajdeeps etc. operate from posh air-conditioned offices. We never raised questions at them. But suddenly start gossiping against Aamir Khan specifically!
It's all our hypocrisy that we spend hours, brains and all time on cynicism and bullshitting but never take constructive action ourselves! We people are NO DIFFERENT from government - which is always making accusations at Team Anna and its supporters - ignoring issue of corruption but trying to spread negativity about intentions of Anna Hazare and his team!
We people mocked Aamir Khan for trying to be holier than thou, but ourselves try to be holier than thou if bad apples in our professions are exposed! We can't take criticism for ourselves, but bullshit about others all day. Only indulge in mudslinging matches. Keep trying to show mirror to each other, but never see mirror ourselves!🤢
Finally, it is US who are making all arguments and judgements on Satyamev Jayate with sole focus on Aamir Khan. We make it all about him first, and then we only say he did it all for publicity, the issues got ignored and all stories became about him only!
Can we pause, do some self introspection and focus on real deal - the issues, than other cynical, hater/fan/supporter/detractor nonsense?!
