Vikram said to Sugni that he's giving her the money as a friend,

Don't you think in such a bad situation she should have accepted the money??She was well aware that no one in the village will help her.

Her mother should not have to go and sleep with the thakur only to feed them??

sometimes thinking of doing well a person creates more problems!!

Your idea about Sugni thought here!!

I had made exactly the same comments in another forum post that refusing Vikram Thakur who was offering money as friend was really questionable for Sugni. Her family hasn't eaten at all for past few days. I understand that she doesnt want to follow bedni traditions but to refuse help in such a situation was really such a bad pride decision. And now it has cost her much more in terms of pride and her mom's respect. Her mom had to finally sleep with that person ( who she hates).

Its so hard to find people who will help in adversity and not take advantage of your situation!!!

I feel she is lucky that Vikram singh offered her money with no ties and I feel she could have taken it as loan to save her pride but to outright refuse did not make sense. Or she could have asked for work.

I also did not understand when the shopkeeper tried helping Sugni and asked for money, I did not think he wasnt doing anything wrong. But she started yelling and cursing him, she could have asked nicely if they can pay him later or can he do udhari, instead she started teaching him meaning of friendship. In todays world even men and women who work they still have to listen their bosses, even they though they might hate them. I thought at least she would think about her family and make the situation work for her and not worsen it.

I really admire gulabiya's character more now...she has so much more courage, maturity and sensible.

I do agree with every your words why she knows well the situation is turning from bad to worst what pride is she showing and she left the money in the car seat and continued her way as if she was going to work why???

You are right why did she begin to yell to the man because she wanted him to give her the rice in free...here she can accept that's why she began to yell.

I must say not accepting the money she forced her mother indirectly to go to Jwala,she was the one who put them in this bad sityuation.

You are right Gulabiyaa character is more mature she knows how to live life and all her judgement is due to the situation she finds herself in.
