Whoever had said stuff like nothing is impossible, impossible is I M possible etc. etc. had certainly not seen Arnav Singh Raizada being tried to convince to undergo the haldi ceremony...

"no di/nani/paayal/aakash" had been his standard replying template since morning...even looking at him by this time was sufficient to receive a "NO!"

there was no way he was agreeing to sit in the hall like a clown while people applied wet yellow stuff on his face and filled laddoos in his mouth. He had wondered on Aakash's resilience when he had seen him undergo the procedure and no way he was going through it, in fact he thought it quite low of Aakash to stoop to such a level but since courtesy demanded otherwise , when Aakash gave him a- "bhai maine bhi toh kiya tha! Phir?"

he just gave a "just forget it Aakash"

Khushi meanwhile was all grins at home ,the sight of a yellow faced Arnav Singh Raizada surrounded by a dozen giggling women floating in her mind...her own mehendi was due in the evening, but she couldn't wait anymore! She just had to know if he was done with it..

"hello jiji?"

"Are khushi!! haan bolo..kaisi ho tum?"

"hum thik hain jiji...woh hum puch rahe they.."

"haan?"

"laad governer ne haldi lagva li?"

"kahan khushi..unhone toh saaf mana kar diya..anjaliji ne bhi koshish ki par.."

"unhone haldi nahi llagvayi?!!" her dreams came crashing to the floor..." kya jiji ! Aap sab itne log hain vahan! Uss laad governer se itni si baat nahi manva paaye? Hum bhi dekhte hain kaise nahi hoti hai haldi!!"

"khu-"

call disconnected.

Paayal smiled..now she was quite sure there was to be a haldi ceremony in this house..

Arnav never knew that calling someone, calling your own fiance could be so damn difficult..he had spent considerable time caressing his mobile but couldn't bring himself to do it... calling without a reason?? that would seem so desperate! And Arnav Singh Raizada was never desperate..even if he was, no way he would show it!find a reason dammit!

As he scrolled through his mobile directory, he couldn't find khushi's number..he checked the 'k' list thrice but it had vanished! And instantly he went mad...who.the.hell had deleted HER number from HIS mobile...of all the nerve! HER number from HIS mobile!!

yes Mr. Raizada we understand... HER number from YOUR mobile...now do something about it!

He knew if he asked Anjali for her number she would tease him to death..and he wasn't really in the mood right now(not that he ever was!)..who to ask??paayal..the amul cow of the Raizada family..

Ten minutes later Arnav was feeding khushi's mobile number in his mobile..

'number already exists.replace?' , the message flashed at him

"exists? What the..!" he was sure he had checked thrice for 'khushi'...this time he checked the entire directory( a long one at that!) before it finally hit him

contact detail- 'sundari'

number- 94923#####

this had.to.be.khushi...

"sundari? I see.."

Khushi's phone buzzed beside her on the bed..

'raakshas calling..'

this was 10 minutes ago supposedly 'rajkumar' which after the conversation with Paayal had been changed to 'raakshas'... she had planned to fulfill that long lived dream of hers to be 'sundari' and have a 'Rajkumar' and therefore duly made changes at either mobile ends after the engagement without any knowledge or prior permission of the supposed 'rajkumar'..the current 'rakshas'

"kya hai?"

how dare she..

"tumne kisse puchkar mere mobile pe apna number change kiya?"

"mobile aapka hai, par number toh hamara hai na..humari marzi!"

"tum a-"

"aapko koi kaam tha?" the angry hint did not go unnoticed by him..

"khushi, tum thik ho?"

"hame kya ho sakta hai?"

let's try changing the topic...when finally there was a 'bahana' to have called, better use it...

"toh aaj tumhari mehendi hai.."

"nahi toh..aapse kissne kaha?"

what the... di had told him thrice it was today!

"toh kab hai?"

"kabhi nahi"

"khushi what nonsense!"

"nahi nonsense! Koi mehendi nahi hai!"

"kyun?"

"rasmen ladki ladke dono ko nibhani hotin hain.. jab aapko koi dilchaspi nahi phir hum kyun karen ye sab.."

okay..so this was it! He should have known...who told her by the way? Whatever.. he knew she was dying to have her mehendi and no way it was getting cancelled. Also no way his haldi was not!

"khushi mai haldi nahi lagvaunga!"

"humne kaha aapse?"

"tum apni mehendi cancel nahi karogi!"

"humne pucha aapse?"

"nahi. Par maine keh diya! That's it!"

"humne sun liya"

"so that's it then!mehendi aaj hai . Toh main di se-"

"kisne kaha"

"khushi what nonsense! Abhi tumne-"

"humne kaha humne sun liya! Yeh nahi kaha hum raazi ho gaye!"

"zyada se zyada kya hoga?" she said in a sad( a little too obviously sad) tone... "ho jayegi hamari shaadi mehendi ke bina...nahi lagvayenge hum mehendi, bas..aur kya"

emotional blackmailing personified..

mission successful. Target blackmailed. Target confused. Target goes all- shit! Is she going to cry??

'Raakshas has disconnected your call'

and Raakshas has also gone down to give second opinions on the haldi ceremony..

Khushi waited for half an hour before calling Paayal again..

"hello jiji?"

"are pata hai khushi? Arnavji raazi ho gaye! Soch khushi! Hame toh yakeen nahi aa raha.."

and ten minutes later-

'are you sure you wish to edit contact detail 'raakshas' to 'raajkumar'? yes/no'

'yes'

'contact name changed to 'raajkumar' '

and khushi all smiles kept the mobile back on the bed as she hurried away to get dressed for her mehendi...
