I personally did not know the connection between Aamir and Maulana Azad and I did not mind that old Imam say that. It came from a very real place and sounded genuine- not orchestrated- I think we need to be more appreciative than be so critical here. The searches on google clearl tells us that the content of this show is more popular than Aamir. That should clearly indicate to us that it is not the personality "Amir" but the actual idea of the show itself that has appealed to all.
Coming to the next idea of dowry episode being poorly done- I thought it to be wonderfully balanced- we started out with the usual scenarios of dowry "deaths", abuse etc. and then hilarious accounts of how people did not pay a dowry. That very idea supported the importance of individuals living in society who need to come up with their own solutions that work to stem the rot of such insupportable practices.
