Of late Indira is made very weak and dependent😲...many of us think this is to showcase
Sumer Singh strong and intelligent...This brings forth a very interesting question as to...

Is it really necessary to make one character weak to portray the other strong...???

If we take the case of Rishi and Indira...Indira often comes across as the strong no nonsense
girl whereas Rishi seems to be the weak and meek follower to any casual onlooker though, i
greatly disagree...

I think Inshi's relationship is like a Minister and his King/Queen's😊...Minister is the one who
gives the right perspective and helps the King/Queen in the decision making...
He does the ground work and damage control if needed and keeps the King/Queen's name and
fame intact...
Whereas the King/Queen is the final decision maker and the the one who implements them
with an iron fist...For all the people King/Queen is the one who holds the power whereas in reality
the Minister holds the power on the King/Queen...both interdependent and one nothing without the other...😃
Hence, I feel both Rishi and Indira are strong but,in their own different ways and supplement each other
quiet well...

The creatives showed depth and maturity in the visualization of these multilayered personalities...
So, I wonder if this Sumer track was their way of mocking the dominant,in your face typical hero...
telling us how the story would turn out to be ...how the Heroine would be reduced to a crying😭,weak
bichaari waiting for someone to bail her out...
I am sometimes amazed at how I try to find logic in these illogicality's shown everyday😳...Anyhow
the question remains the same...

If a character is to be maintained a Hitler ..What could be the scope of the character cast opposite
Hitler , her companion...????

Hope I made sense and awaiting to hear different opinions and have a healthy discussion...All your
thoughts are welcome😃

I never understood the need of Sumer in the story...I guess they wanted someone to take care of the ship like an interim captain..when actual captain(indira) and his mate(rishi) were down...Rishi being away was probably to give Sumit a break...Indira...I guess they wanted to show a softer side to her...her weakness and how Sharmas uses and used her previously...or the simplest reason is...They wanted to wait for IPL to get over to show some bigger twist

What a nice post! :-)

I'll try to put my thoughts out here. Maybe together, we can figure some answer to your question in the process.

Ideally, from what we've been taught through academics, one character should be a 'foil' to the other. Elizabeth Bennet was the perfect foil to Darcy. While 'foil' might seem to suggest contrast, it actually means 'enhancer'. So the qualities in each character enhances or highlights the qualities of the other.

To that extent, Rishi and Indira are perfect foils to each other. They each highlight the others good and not-so-good qualities. They do not shy away for acknowledging, accepting, and pointing out the flaws in each other. Rishi never shied away from telling her a few truths about herself with respect to her family, and Indira did caution Rishi about being glib.

Sumer (and earlier Sameer), do not really serve as foils to Indira because they are too much like her (at least in the manner they were conceptualized. I am not even getting into the murder of Sameer). They do not enhance Indira's qualities in any way.

I have been thinking of Sumer and what little they have managed to portray of him is:
1. Women lust after him
2. He's a corrupt cop who accepts bribes for street kids (this is a neglected aspect)
3. He is as rude as the original Hitler was capable of being
4. He is intelligent and knows his job
5. Alpha male

These qualities resonate strongly with the image of the old Indira (except for points 1 and 2).

I would agree that the butchering of Indira's character is to serve the purpose of the current track, which involves giving Sumer's character importance. While its understandable that this new character deserves screen space and that some part of the story needs to be aligned to him, I cannot fathom why Indira had to be murdered. She could have, in her original avatar, contributed to the solving of the case. She is neither a dimwit nor a bimbette who now needs to get accustomed to the affronts and abuses hurled at her by good-for-nothing siblings and family.

Its comforting to see her pine for Rishi. But she has laid her brains aside. Something which goes against the grain of the character.

This sure raises points of discussion. Hope my two tuppence has contributed to taking it forward. Thanks for reading.

I like your analogy of the interim captain...hope this Sumer track is just a filler for the IPL and
they have an interesting track up ahead...
I would like to say to the cv's, playing on audience insecurities, even for the sake of filler is not wise
and could prove detrimental..

first a vry good post👍🏼...I totally agree with u that relationship of indira and rishi has been that of a queen and her minister and both mutually working towards same goal and at same time complementing each other...in my pov a relationship is defined as mutual respect and understanding for each other despite of ones flaws and quietly and lovingly try to overcome those flaws and mistakes without hurting he selfrespect of ur partner hence bringing up the best in ur partner and all this is justified in indira rishi relationship...an ideal couple of telivision.

as far as this track is concerned for me this track although with flaws has somewhat shown the growth of inshi relationship...indira loosing her hitlergiri not because she is weak but somewhere she has lost her hope, her strength. every time indira was in trouble she knew that no one will understand her but she ubconciously or conciously knew that rishi is there to be by her side...now with him gone away she has lost something within which she is trying to find out. All humans have immense emotions and all of them hide them in a mask just as indira has of hitler but this mask is with us till we are secure and strong but when adversities strike especially with people whom u love the most u are shaken from within and the mask u wear is peeled off and ur vulnerable side is exposed and that is what has happened with indira right now.

As far as sumer is concerned he is totally a different persona who has been brought up with a purpose to find rishi and that is it.

@ asterixandme

Agree with you...Rishi and Indira are the perfect foils to each other...

Sumer Singh's character is developed superficially without much ground work...
CV's are forcibly trying to fit him in the well established story and the result is for
all of us to see...
I wish CV's maintained conviction in their story and not messed up with Indira's character...

Hitler can make a good decision or a bad decision , can be a success or failure , can be
ruthless but,can never be weak...Well defined characters bring out the essence of the story..
Hope cv's realise this and get back to the original story that intrigued us all...
