Err am I the only one who found the promo truly bizarre and testing my sensibility? The forum is filled rife with speculations from him hiding hurting nursing to torturing himself with grief. This is not how I imagined for even one second how ASR would end up behaving - an emotional coward skulking in some remote room disheveled unkempt and guilt ridden without having the guts or gumption to own his mistakes and errors in judgment nor having the decency to look the person(s) straight in the eye and say sorry.

No matter what his character flaws/ defects he has never been portrayed as someone who is not capable of facing adversity in the face of danger and has always taken immediate action to counter act the situation. That has always been his trade mark- to take the bull by the horns and fight it out come what may. This St Arnav martyrdom track licking his wounds in private seems in total contrast to that and it really takes away from his intrinsic self. It reflects his own personality in a rather shoddy light and that I think this is something even his most ardent critic would find hard to accept.

Again if I have to go the by assumptions and presumptions that this must be his way of repenting after knowing the truth then alas I am afraid he has left his brain once more somewhere for if after knowing the real facts about Shyam and now completely aware of the kind of sinister menace he poses to his entire family, the idea that he has knowingly left his pregnant sister at the mercy of a monster, abandoned his wife leaving her a defenseless prey and in even more danger highly vulnerable to the lustful moves of this obsessed hunter and exposing his entire family including his aunt uncle grandmother cousin sister in law , her side of the family not to mention his business and wealth leaving them all completely unprotected to a clear and present danger against a psychopath just does not sit well with me.

CV's don't play me for a fool I am no maturing adult or loony fanatic ready to be placated for my whimper with a tiny scrap of a highly questionable couple of words and scenes. I far prefer a kidnap drama to this rubbish and saying I Love You just makes it worse. If it is ploy by the PH to send out a message that all is well with cast and crew well then it could have been done with less melodrama and more bite without diluting the essence of the character. I can understand the need to accommodate certain commitments of the cast members but to ingloriously reduce a character in stark contrast to what they earlier were supposed to stand for does them great disservice and injustice not to mention taking the viewers for being imbeciles ready to accept any silly idea being thrown at then. They did it to one actor and are now returning the favor to the other.

.When I signed on to watch this serial 250 episodes back it was for the story and the 2 characters. I really did not know who the actors but only found their chemistry was amazing and added to the element of this 'different' love story. Today at the halfway mark I find myself feeling very let down, not because the cast members have decided to explore fresher pastures but that I may be going to be left shortchanged without a proper answer to all the situations and questions that were opened during the course of the last few months. An actor has every right to seek to capitalize when an opportunity presents itself especially in today's 15 seconds of fame world but what galls me is that I and I am sure thousands like me who watched this show for a story am suddenly left feeling very cheated because of the uncertainty of the future tracks. I am sure none of us ever imagine that the MU would get solved in this inane way or confessions of love in this rather peculiar way

Some of the best American Soap dramas always resorted to a dramatic shootout /massacre/ inferno in the season finales where every actor involved with the series was present and no one's personality no matter how popular was allowed to supersede the story line and every body faced the prospect of an exit and they carried on successfully to the next season. Closer home the Second Hand me down serial has weathered very successfully the exit of both their leads a huge leap in generations and addition of new players and added to the TRP figures.

So CV's do let me know how you are planning on carrying this story forward. Are you planning on changing the script story and plots to suit the actors or will you be sticking to the original thought process with a minor hiccup here and there? I am now faced with the prospect that after having spent quite a number of months hoping the story loops would be closed in a particular way, but thanks to the lack of foresight, planning and wisdom on the part of the PH, will be forced to see a track that maybe completely an anathema to my hopes of happy closures. So your input would be much appreciated and help me reach an informed decision whether to continue, randomly check or plain quit watching.

Finally the question that I would like to ask is

Are shows that are based purely on the principle of the story better at coping with sudden changes, absence and exits of actors as opposed to those based purely upon the personality of the leads which creates a void if there is a sudden departure? Would IPKKND have reached even bigger heights if a strong story track had been adhered to and not been diluted by the cult of personality?

Looking forward to your replies and please do not misconstrue this as some whatever post but more an anguished reflection of a cheated viewer.😊

I completely agree with you over here FLS (sorry dont know your name 😊) ... I am yet to grasp the meaning of the promo & the thoughts that go behind it despite hundreds of posts made regarding it . If it is indeed Arnav's repentance track which has started out of the blue and shows him gone into hiding, then it makes absolutely no sense to me 😕 . If he is indeed repenting, then why is he tormenting the person whom he has wronged even further. Surely he will know through the voice mails & everything that she is frantic for him... & pray what about his family may I ask ? Does he run off knowing that probably his family is running around trying to find him & are worried sick about him. I am all for the kidnapping track, at least that track does not defy all common sense & logic.

Regarding your other point, I have felt that since the surging popularity of the male lead, a successful stint at the recent SPA awards & the lack of a tight grasp on the upcoming storyline -- has all led to the PH becoming both complacent in the success of this show & also letting go of the USP that they earlier had which was a different storyline & a crackling chemistry between the leads (which for th past few months did not have the earlier magic).

I love this show & am sincerely hoping that the PH brings the story back on track & keeps its characters intact while doing so.

Hi Paru and my name is Swathi😊

Thank you for your reply and really glad my thoughts resonated with you as well. I never thought that I would actually prefer the kidnapping track to this latest curve ball. I was I initially kind of put off over the kidnapping scheme as that is not how I envisaged the rather farcical MU to end but right now I am willing to settle for something as silly as that over this. I am truly disappointed over the shoddy way the CV's have decided to handle an actors absence and while I was quite happy that the story 'seemed' to be moving forward over the whole of last week now it is suddenly floundering under the weight of this latest bright idea of theirs.

As long as this show had a story to tell of a strong spunky female character and an enigmatic male character it did extremely well as I am sure many will vouch for it. I know that I got hooked on to it last year primarily because of the story and the tale was being told remarkably well till something happened and the next thing we know it is all about one personality and honestly it detracted from what the show was all about. No one can afford to get complacent looking at the cut throat competition among various channels competing for a slice of the viewers' pie and spending power. I am just left feeling melancholic for what could have been if only they had handled it better.

Once again thank you for your lovely reply.

Hi! FLS, great to see you back.
And a BIG, BIG thanks for the fantastic post.
I really don't know what the cvs are upt to but I'm getting fed up of the absence of a proper story.
So they have a promo of an ASR in agony uttering I love you and today a picture of ASR lighting a candle prompting a huge surge in the hormonal levels in the whole forums where everyone is gasping for the romance!! I'm sorry, I can never imagine ASR ever doing somethiing as cliched in a million years. This is not the ASR we know.
The promo I have decided is a cynical move on the part of the cvs to keep the teeny boppers and the ammajis reeled in

I am sorry, I did not and do not want to watch meaningless romance, I set out to watch a story of two people who fall in love and grow as people. Things between ASR and KKG have not reached a stage for meaninglesss I love yous and candlelight romance which have no connect with the reality of their situation, cirucmstances, and the history of their relationship.

I want them to have a proper conversation and come to an understanding of the each other, I want to know how they find a solution to the problem of Shyam. I want to know how Anjali deals with the situation. I want to know ASR and KKG and Anjali's stories, how Shyam became the man he is,
We've had to put up with a lot of butchering of the characters of ASR and KKG. Now, as you say, seems like we're about to see yet another round of hacking of the persona of ASR and all because BS has decided to take up another challenge. They should not have had any problems if they had a proper story in the first place.

I'll lay the blame squarely on the CVs for this fiasco we are about to see. They knew full well that he was going to be away for 4 weeks, they should have built up the story. AS BS rightly said he is not the show, the story is the show and he is right.

They could have spent these last month giving us the background story of Shyam, KKG, maami, when BS was around, which they did not. Instead they chose to indulge in meaningless comedy. And now that he is away they are are trying to keep us in with promises of meaningless romance. I was hoping the kidnapping would be his way of going off on his own to find out the truth about Shyam, looks like it is nothing of the sort.

I can't help but blame the cvs, who really seem to have no plan beyond today, as does the PH whose left hand does not know what the right is doing, and of course, the biggest villain in all this, the channel whose only concern is TRPs and the money they bring.
Then the a whole section fo the viewers and
their endless baying for mindless romance involving endless bouts of dupatta falling and coma inducing eylocks and suhag raats (what DO they want to see in a SR?1??).

Finally I blame it on dear Ms. Gul Khan who has created the fantasy equivalent of a frankenstien in ASR without enough of a story to support his fabulous personality. But of course, she struck gold in finding BS to give life to her fantasy.

@ Red -- Swathi ... I had figured that the kidnapping track is not the end of the MU actually ... i took it as the start of the end of MU 😉 ... & I found the idea good wherein it incorporated the lead's absence, made Khushi realize her feelings and also would show Arnav when he is back that something does not click together in the whole scenario what with her desperately worried about her (that is if his brain starts working 😛) and then he would actually witness something that would bring out the truth. So if this is where the CV's are headed then it seems good especially if the direction & dialogues meet our expectations. The whole ILU thing however threw the entire track into another dimension though 😕

Applause for the post, FLS.

It might be better to wait and see how they take us to the scene shown in the promo. This PH has a habit of delivering misleading promos and might even surprise us with a logical explanation for the shot. But, I am not holding my breath, if it happens, it happens.

Hero worship is our national pass time. So we have eulogized a guy to such greatness in our minds that we can't even imagine a show without his presence. Truth be told, nothing and no one is irreplaceable. If the leads exit, and the PH is smart, they will bring other equally competent leads to fill the void. Yes, the unique chemistry shared by the leads will be lost forever and I certainly hope such an eventuality never happens.

All biggies such as Amitabh Bachan, Rajnikant, and other heros of yesteryears were considered irreplaceable. Yet, the world has moved on and the younger generation of movie goers doesnt miss them.

well said.
much as i like, some might say absolutely nuttily love, the lead actors of ipkknd, it is indeed the story that got me hooked.
attraction at its most intense, between two beautifully conceived and crafted, extremely plausible characters. culminating in a romance that had the potential to touch the heights of the classics.
the action included an interesting cast and settings and situations one could relate to. this was a soap that was determinedly different, with a sense of cool rarely seen on television.
of course, barun and sanaya had me transfixed, even addlebrained. for they were telling me a story i wanted for me and they were telling it so fabulously.
somewhere along the way, we started to imagine they were what it was all about, the narrative didn't count.
big mistake.
would like to see the return of intelligent, compelling story telling please. if barun sobti can make time and return, i will be delighted and over the moon.
if not, and who says an actor shouldn't try new things and proceed to make a great career whereever he or she chooses, at the rate we are raving and ranting and meddling in his life and choices, wouldn't be surprised if he gets turned off and just goes on to do something else. so as i was saying, if not, please 4lions, return to the real hero.
the story.
i am sure someone will come along to tell it well.

enough rumours, noise, interviews, leaks, spoilers, trp raising promos, stuff.
all i want is 25 minutes of an intelligent deadly romance every week night. ipkknd unlike all other soaps, determined, brave, funny, written by cynics who are closet romantics.
ah, delightful.

Tell me this guy does not need a PR manager. He is confusing the heck out of me.

Are you in or are you not? Just say - Yes, I will be in after a bit of adjustment in my dates.
That would end the controversy.
Man!!! Barun!!!! you need to stop confusing fans.
Yes, you did say you will return and you should have stopped at that point, instead of adding that anyone can do the role of ASR.
NO! that is not what you tell your fans who fell in love with your ASR.

Gosh this guy needs to learn a lot when it comes to public speaking. YOu are doing a special video for your fans who are IPK fans and you dont have a proper speech. Why not clearly say I am doing a movie and I am doing IPK as well. He never seems to mention the show.
Only his IPK fans will follow him to the movie ..there is no one and I say no one knows him outside of the world of his show. Why so many statements in the past several weeks but no clear communication. Yes I will be BACK !!! That line sounds much better from the other Arnie.
