Vikram-Sugni parallels: May 18th

Finally we got more Vikram scenes at the end of the week and that entire panchayat sequence was quite interesting for Vikram's powerful screen presence and the clash b/w the Thakurs.

In particular, I loved the portion of dialogues exchanged about living like animals or using reason...the back and forth b/w Jwala Thakur and Vikram there was very nicely done and enacted by the actors👏

Vikram showed up to support Sugni...support her whole-heartedly infact...but the irony was that SHE was quiet this time.

I couldn't help but think back to the scene from the previous week when Adi was throwing Sugni out of the house and the way Sugni looked at Vikram with the expectation that HE will speak up...but he didn't...she kept waiting...but he didn't.

This epi was the reverse...Vikram kept looking at Sugni...waiting, WILLING her to speak up...but she didn't...stayed uncharacteristically quiet...and this time VIKRAM was the one who felt let down...I think the parallels were very interesting that way.

This time Vikram's the one disappointed in her...he expected so much better from her given her usual defiant stance...but she let him down...that disappointment showed clearly on his face in the end.

I'm intrigued to see what their next face to face meeting will be like...I foresee a convo about this scene somewhere in the future as well...

Unfortunately the pace of the show DRAGS...and that is a big minus point in my opinion...they take forever to move the story in some ways...they could deffo do with a crisper pace.

AreYaar,
Well described last scene and the contrast of Vik-Sug at home and at the panchayat.

That last scene was the only interesting part in the show in the last *few* episodes. I wish they develop all the scenes with as much interest as they did that last one. Some of the scenes are done with such lack of interest that it seems like they except the audience to either "understand it by themselves" or "ignore the mistakes" to get the larger picture, which I am finding a bit annoying, given the fact that it is still a new show.

As of now, i find only Vikram Thakur worth watching, not even Sugni. Okay, she promised her mother, she wouldn't utter a word at the panchayat, but after Vik's arrival, Gul gets newfound strength and is kind of pleading her daughter to speak-up and still Sugni is mum? Where did Sugni's original strength and all the positive points in her characterization go?

And I also wonder if Vik would've been the same at the panchayat had there been Adi in that scene?! Not that Adi would've wanted to be there, but still something to ponder over given the development of Vik in that scene.

Thanks, bee5...I agree with you...they are not really developing the story at a pace where it can make an IMPACT...I honestly feel if they want us to feel more sympathy for the characters and the situations like that of Sugni and her family, they need to develop it better and show it with more conviction...

I guess Sugni believes in keeping her promises even if her mother was quite CLEARLY encouraging her to speak up in the Panchayat.

The pace is a big issue for me...it's like running in circles right now and there is no CLARITY as to how the issue will be tackled and how the relationships will move forward...it's for us to make random guesses about for now.

I feel that the Thakurain's plan can't be just to get Sugni and her family banned from Rai...she will deffo try to get Sugni's sar-dhakaai done to further humiliate her in some way and extract revenge...

Re: Vikram...If Adi had been there, it would just be a raita failaane waali baat cuz Adi just shouts around incoherently without making any sense...I think Vikram would have still stood up for her in some sense...or maybe this is a long term thing and we will see this back and forth from Vikram for a while.

Wao ..it is parallel situation as u said . Want to see now what vikram has to say for sugini being quite .
Well pace of story is very slow ..at time feel like catching in end of week ...promo they show is almost take 5 days ..which is lot
To have viewers hooked to PSH they really need to work on there story & there should be some interaction between sugini & vikram ...( we need something to get hooked to apart from story 😆)
Sugini character is interesting ...hope CV retain her being bold & fighting spirit .
Wish to get more story twisted among vikram , sugini & adi ..Right now i am just enjoying vikram more than anyone in this show .

I told you the last part of this scene is great...Vikram knows how to cut a man down to size. I love how he speaks...how he made his point by speaking so calmly, so rationally and with maturity without beating around the bush...faltu lecture nahin tha...he was saying something that would MATTER...such preciosity of language and dialogues from this character like always. But unfortunately, he's the only character who has left a mark in my opinion...who has some what of an impact on the viewer with his dialogues. Not that Gulabiya and Sugni, the two other important characters, are any less interesting or these two doesn't get hard hitting dialogues...they do and they are brilliant performers to execute them perfectly but in their case...the problem is that most of the tme their scenes are so dragged out they fail to make that impact to garner the right amount of empathy from the viewer. We just keep on hoping for a VT scene in the whole epi because he's the only one whose scenes and dialogues are written with precision...baki toh poori epi drag hi karte hain.

About the parallels you pointed out...yes interesting how their respective silence has caused each one of them disappointment with respect to the other. I do think they'll bring this up the next time they meet...as far as disappointments and misunderstandings go, they don't prolong them and clear them very quickly between these two.

I can't predict what's going to happen next...and I'm a bit weary about its fate...

True, the promos don't really excite me in general and you're right that it seems to take them a whole week to show a proper Vikram or VS scene which is honestly the USP of the show...the drama in Sugni's family is just going around in circles and nothing CONCRETE is coming out of it

Exactly...the drag is an issue...and I've told you this before also their presentation of the whole "trauma" of the Bedia community over this Rai issue is not really coming out that POWERFULLY as it needs to...honestly yaar main Gulaal ke ek epi bhi yahaan post kar doon toh it's easy enough to see the difference b/w what is ACTUALLY powerfully playing out drama and what's not...PACE ke baare mein hi kuch seekh lein Gulaal se.

They need to get moving and do something about the story...however it's supposed to intertwine the lives of the characters...ek momentum hota hai jispe cash in karna chahiye or it gets squandered.

Weary is the word...I just start to lose patience...

Nur...totally agree with u...the last scene is the best in the whole week...that total disappointment of Vikram seeing Sugni all silent when he is talking in favor of her...I would like to see a scene in the near future where Sugni makes it clear to him about her promise to her Mother and their bond is back to the one they always have...
Coming to the dragging...ahhh it is actually so draggging...they are taking so much time to show the scene in precap...as if they are showing the precap for the next week and not for the next episode...I wish they show more VS scenes which are a treat to watch rather than the family drama,...

Ahhh Anu...I had been trying to come back with my comments but it has been such a busy busy Weekend .😡
But yes WORD to everything you said. There is a very strong parallel between the scenes and VS actually exchange a silent and inscrutable conversation in midst of the panchayat rulings.
I loved the effortless acting of Varun..This guy and his character is growing day by day .The essence of his character lies in his stark strong remark with hidden undertones and his vocal speech about injustice actually did not sound preachy at all.KUDOS TO THE WRITERS FOR TRYING TO CREATE A CHARACTER ..who knows how to differenciate between right and wrong ,without coming across as a yelling preachy speech master.

But the greatest drawback of the story is that its pace is HORRIBLY DARGGING
Great concept but they certainly need to be more paced 😳
Thanks Anu for the lubbly post🤗
