Colors TV's longest running show that broke the 'same story different package' jinx, started its journey in 2008 and established an instant connect with the audience across all age groups. Our correspondent Prerna Arora, who was present at the show's 1000th episode celebration, talks to the cast of the show. 14th May, 8 pm was a moment of achievement for Colors TV as the on-screen and off-screen family of Balika Vadhu sat together to witness it touch the 1000th episode milestone at Mumbai's plush Westin Hotel. Everyone from the cast and crew to the CEO and Fiction head of Colors were present and expressed their excitement but somewhere between the emotional bonding, scrumptious food and great music, absence of the head of the family, Dadisa aka Surekha Sikri was felt greatly. Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors TV, thanked everyone involved from the programming team and production house and Purnendu Shekhar, writer Balika Vadhu, presented each with a memento as a token of thanks. The younger cast of the show looked excited and upbeat at the event. Shashank Vyas, popularly known as Jagya, said "it has been a learning experience for me. I feel great to have worked with such an experienced star cast. For me, everyday on the set was a new lesson." Nodding in agreement to him, Anjum Farooki, his on screen wife Gauri said, "I feel honored to be a part of such a great show. Even though my character is negative, I feel overwhelmed the way audience has accepted me. I am grateful to them." The show's protagonist Anandi, a.k.a. Pratyusha Banerjee, might have given up on her estranged husband Jagya, but she need not worry as love is to knock on her door again. Balika Vadhu and Colors revealed the new boy in Anandi's life, Shiv, who will be seen as Anandi's love interest in the coming episodes. Also present on this occasion was, as it has been termed, "the real life Anandi," a young girl from Jaipur, Laxmi, who has been a victim of child marriage. Her case is the first in the history of Indian law as hers was the first marriage to be annulled as soon as she turned 18. Laxmi, who came down specially to be a part of this celebration, thanked the entire Balika Vadhu team for inspiring her to take this step and start a new life.
