All I can say is that it is unfortunate that grown men have to send their women folks to prostitute themselves in order to provide alchol and chicken for the men. It is just distusting even if it is their custom.

and its not to say these uncles are evil , its just not how things are done over there. yes they are selfish to send their sister to dance when shes so sick and to get predictions for babys gender instead of medicine, but they are selfish.

remember vikran offering sugnis friend a job as a driver? how he was shocked? and then vikram told him off by saying you want others (as in woman) to bring home the money, you dont have the will to earn for your own?

vikram is apart of the culture and not apart of it at the same time. he actually has the village pegged out. he doesnt judge nor does he indulge. he knows certain people have been a certain way for centuries and one person or one city dweller cannot change that. he also knows that there are women who want a better life for themselves than what thier mothers had. and he respects that, unlike others who dont understand or look down upon it.
