He took the first sip of his hot coffee.The seat opposite him was empty.Yash patiently waited for Maan to show up.Dadi was adamant in not changing the will which made matters worse for him.He had never imagined that Dadi would ever think of Dev when Maan was so efficient.There Dev was earning some brownie points from her & here Maan & Geet's marriage was still in the pipeline.He had told Maan to introduce Geet to the media to pressurize her so that even if she comes to know of the will she wouldn't refuse to the marriage at any cost but that didn't work out,he sighed.
Maan made his way inside the coffee shop & quickly had taken his seat.
"Why are you so late?You have not been late before like this?" he asked sternly
"Dad,i m...i m sorry I--"
But Yash interrupted him in between,"Leave it!You wanted to tell me something imp?"
"Dad,Geet knows every small detail of the burnt shoe-factory...infact she even suspects that there is something amiss...and she is sure about that..."
Yash's face did not change.He was not used to display emotions quickly."Not expected...not expected at all...Geet at any cost musn't meet Dev..."
"But how will she meet him?He is in Canada,I suppose"
"Wrong!! He is in India as of now"
"What!!" he was shocked."Where?I hope he is not in Delhi" he slided back in his chair.
"I don't know where he is but remember one thing Maan, Dev should not meet Geet,otherwise there will be a huge problem,understand?"
"Yes ofcourse Dad!Leave it to me!"
"Good!Anyways,i have noticed that the extra spark which you had seems to be missing.I hope you are not completely into Geet only" he noticed him keenly
Maan couldn't look at him in the eye."Dad,all the best for your Gujarat trip.."
"Okay Maan,I take your leave.but remember one thing,your mind should control you not your heart."
Maan nodded hesitantly.He watched Yash retreat from there.
"I am sorry Dad,my mind is not involved when it comes to Geet..." he paused, "But my mind definitely works when it comes to other things."
He dialled a number & instructed the person at the other end
"Maan bol raha hoon.Trace Dev Singh Khurana where ever he is in India as fast as possible!"
He rang off with a smirk on his face...
Geet was a little sad when she reached college.Maan had been very late for work because of her.He had told her to attend college regularly as the exams were near & she reluctantly agreed.The gone two days were the best days of her life.She began to view their relation from a whole new angle.She noticed that whenever she met him these days,she had to think a lot about what she would talk to him but at the same time she saw to it she she did not reveal her new found feelings
So yes,this special feeling of perhaps 'love' was not new to her but this time her joy was triple than before. She even began to take interest in studies without bunking classes because it seemed to be enjoyable,which she never thought would happen to her.Earlier the world was a happy place to live in for her but now it was a heavenly place for her.During lectures in college,her mind would drift to Maan sometimes.If anyone was to enter the class,she would stupidly think it was Maan.
Three days passed by. Geet had made her own little world with Maan as it's center.As her parents were not there she could do all mad things.She would listen to songs always imagining her & Maan in it.While reading novels,she always saw Maan at the hero's place & would blush profusely when she read intimate scenes.She was so much into him that she endlessly used to check her phone for his messages & calls and when she did not find any she would say "What yaar!He is Maan Singh Khurana,no ordinary man,he doesn't have lots of free time.!" What made her joy more intense was the fact that she had seen glimpses of somewhat the same feelings in Maan's eyes also.
And Geet was right,Maan had already admitted that Geet's thoughts interfered with his functioning. He had become more strict than before in fear of anyone recognising the change in him.He saw Geet almost everywhere during meetings,visiting sites & what not.When he seen his staff talking about their loved ones,unlike before he heard their talks quietly.He was surprised that he also could hold feelings for a girl. He later gave all the credit to dadima's will.When he pondered further,he realized that he admired Geet from the day he had come there,but for his ego he couldn't realize it.Then popped the question of love in his mind Is this love?Does he love Geet?Really?Was that the same feeling which Dad had told him to be aware?How will his dad react when he comes to know about this,he is already suspicious... With the will problem being solved,there was yet another obstacle for Maan ,in the form of Dev Khurana,to become the sole owner of KC...
There were only two days left for Geet's parents to return home.It was early Sunday morning when Geet was feeling miserable.
"Enough is Enough!!!!" she said to himself .She got up & took a red sketchpen , then applied a cross mark on Maan's photo
"Geet!Concentrate on your studies!You have to pass your exams properly to set a good impression on Maan!Waise even if their has to be a love story between us,i wonder how it would be" she gave a small chuckle,"Difficult to even imagine Maan as a lover.Anyways,stop thinking about Maan!Aur waise bhi,he is in office today also"
Maan was studying a blueprint when Adi,his assistant walked in
"Sir,the Mehra's are having a party today evening,they have given a special invitation to you."
Maan did not feel like attending a party without Geet.But she would be busy with her studies,it was not wise to let go of her mind elsewhere
"Adi,I won't be able to come,tum chale jao"
"Sir,I will go,that's not an issue...but sir...Mehra's are planning a deal with us...so it is necessary for you to go...if you know what I mean... "
Maan sighed. "Yeah!you're right!Fine,i will be there"
"Okay Sir" Adi walked out. Maan rested back on his chair "Need to go!but there will be so many other parties in future,Geet can come with me to those!"
Come evening,Geet was restless.Maan had not yet returned from office.She decided to go to KC & surprise him. She reached there but was surprised to see the office gates closed.Just then she saw Adi sitting in a car.She called out to him.
"Adi Sir,where are you going and where is Maan?"
"Oh Geet!Nice to see you!Maan Sir had gone to attend one of our client's party even I am going there!"
Geet was shocked,"Party??Why didn't Maan tell me?"she was hurt
"T-Thik h-hai...T-thanks"
"Waise,if you want to meet him,you can come with me"
"N-No...you can go". Adi waved her a byee.
Quickly Geet sat in her car & followed Adi
"Maan could have atleast told me..."the thoughts ran across her mind
On the other hand,Maan was not at all feeling well.He loved parties because he got to see beautiful & sexy girls around him.And today was no different.Girls were wanting him to just have one glimpse on them,but he did not bother.His mind was on to Geet.None can match her beauty!.He shouldn't have come over here.He even ignored the reporters
Then there was the couple dance but he sat at a distance all by himself.He really had wished Geet was there.Just then his eyes fell on Geet in a beautiful white sari having her eyes fixed on him walking on the sides of the dance floor. He stared at her dreamily.But when he blinked his eyes,she disappeared.Yeah!He was dreaming!. But there was another girl in the white dress who had come upto him.Maan did not notice her. She requested him for a dance.At first he thought to refuse but later on he agreed,smirking "After all it's only a dance,not very harmful"
Geet anyhow entered the party venue seeing that the guards don't notice her.Her eyes were searching for Maan.& then she saw him on the dance floor with that girl,his hands on her waist,holding her in his arms & hers on his shoulder.She could see his partial face .Maan,on the other hand,felt something queer...like Geet was there somewhere.He left the dance floor & as looking here & there. Geet left from there quietly.Maan asked Adi about Geet. Adi was surprised seeing his behaviour.He told him Geet had come to office asking for him but she had refused to come to the party.
For the first time ever,Maan was feeling guilty of himself.He left the party & headed straight home...
There Geet reached her house & locked the main door.She went upto her room & sat on the floor supporting her hands on her knees.Tears rolled down her eyes.She reflected her feelings & emotions leaving aside the incident.
"Okay,this is not the first time it's happening.Hamesha aisa hi hota hai.the men on whom I develop a liking either turn out to already having a girlfriend or liking someone else.I feel hurt,cry but then I get over it within a few weeks par aaj aisa lag raha hai ki...I can't explain!"
She wiped her tears.The glasses of her dreamworld came shattering down.She felt so alone that no one could reach out to her.She sensed that even now if Maan appeared in front of her,she would hug him very tightly & not let him go. When she saw him with Supriya,her anger led her to put him in a fix but know she felt helpless enough to even ask him anything.The thing was ,there was always an infatuation for him.When she had come to know of his casanova nature,the feelings did not get wiped out but it was there...hidden from her own self but it had slowly & steadily entered her heart again and this time made her fall so crazy & madly in love with him with no chances of recovery.
She closed her eyes.She saw Maan with the usual smirk on his face.It was true!She had lost the challenge & everything was happening the same way as he had told her the day after he had come here.
"tum shaadi se mana kar hi nahi paogi Geet,you can never you will fall hard for me!..." he had said. She had lost her heart for a womaniser...not knowing he would love her back or not,uncertainty befriended her.
She threw herself on the bed, here eyes red with tears. She didn't know when she fell asleep...
Maan saw that the front door of Geet's house was locked.He was restless.Geet knew about the party but he didn't know whether she was actually there or not...but he strongly felt that she was there.He wanted to see her once,very badly.His mind had a lot of doubts. Just then he saw a ladder kept a feet away. He looked at it closely ,then looked at Geet's window which was open...then he again looked at the ladder.
The idea seemed to mock him. He had never in his wildest dream imagined that such a thing would knock his brain,multi-millionaire Maan Singh Khurana climbing the ladder to reach a girl's room...absurd! .But he couldn't control himself from seeing her.He took a deep breath & started climbing the ladder not once looking behind. Anyhow, he placed his hand firmly on the window pane & then he got inside her room uttering a 'Phew!'.He was careful about not knocking the ladder down.
She was fast asleep.He was at relief but soon he noticed that her eyes were moist & her pillow was wet.His heartbeat nearly stopped 'She was crying' dawned on him.He felt more and more guilty because he held himself responsible.He was convinced that she had seen him with the girl or...did she know about the will....So will she question him again like that day...
He held her hand softly into his & muttered "Sorry Geet...but I promise I will fix everything".He was about to kiss her hand but refrained.
Giving a last glance to her white face,he climbed down the ladder dejected.
