Hola Peeps. 😃
An episode that took me around 1hr and 2nd round of watching to figure the theme of the track and took me another 2 hours to figure what are the tales taken from the collection. To be very honest I was completely stuck and absolutely was crying for help.
When I came online I saw Tant and Pam logged off but they never discuss with me about the episode anyway, so two options down. Then I saw Purvi (Purvimeh /Casper) online and asked her what is the story of Jackal and Deer??? She said - what??? I asked her again, why Khushi said - "Hiran" or what she said I didn't understand. Purvi then said - "I think it's Lamb". Then we concluded that there was no story of Wolf and Deer but there is one - "Wolf and Lamb". I told her that it's the second time in 3 days Khushi mentioned this story and I forgot all my childhood stories, even Google is not helping me with all. Purvi then said - what you talking??? There were dialogues and where the hell stories coming from into picture??? I messaged her - "Yes, darling there is and my brain is tired now". After sometime I messaged her do you know the story of "The cunning fox"??? She replied - "What??? Wait, where is that coming from again"??? I said the entire message of this track is - "Thakurmar Jhuli" which is "The Grandmother's bag of tales" in Bengali. The "Potli" that Khushi laid on the bed to make the Will. Interesting isn't it??? Purvi then said - "Damn, Fairy tales"??? I said - Yes and I need a Bengali to tell me the stories so I can be cleared of and Purvi is not a Bengali but she helped me to search couple of them when I provided the English names but then again I couldn't find almost many of them online. Even Google didn't help me today at all and I had almost forgotten all the stories as these are all childhood tales. Purvi then said - "you are gonna read them all now??? Chutti le le and open Redux later on". But I had to open as I know that today's episode didn't make any sense to anyone of you, so I told her, I have to open. Purvi was so nice to stay online just for me and help me find the stories and messaged me some of them and helped me to crack the stories. This was the toughest track for me to crack and I am really happy that it clicked me. Before I start I want to thank Purvi for being with me when I really needed her. Thanks darling. 🤗
Yes, I am happy today as really this track was the "Toughest" to crack till date. There were absolutely no hints and this was spread within last 3 episodes and it is designed in a hidden manner. Since Wednesday when the moment the track of Khushi's insane thoughts after cracking the "Da Vinci Code" as Anki profoundly had named to "AR 36 K", there were so many hints on this current track that it was in my subconscious mind but I couldn't link as the hints were completely incomplete. Today they completed some of the hints and I did crack it today, so, I am happy. Pheewww. Now, even if I quit watching IPK I will have no regrets at all.
"Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten" ~ G.K. Chesterton
"Thakurmar Jhuli" or "Grandmother's bag of tales". In every culture and in every generation, the collection of fairy tales or fables were part of every childhood. "Once upon a time there lived a ..." and thus the words frame the beginning of a magical journey full of excitement for young minds. Storytelling has occupied an important place through time in cultures across the globe and, in each, has attained an important conduit of expression of their integrated socio-cultural ethos. All these stories had taught us the morality between the good and the evil. There were some scenes placed in a haphazard manner and they all are weaved in such a way with the scenes from the stories tied with the innuendos. The reason 4 Lions have taken the stories is to not only design the episodes but to teach the moral of the tales.
Hence I have given the title as "Fables". What is a Fable??? A Fable not only narrates the stories but also illustrates the "Moral" of the same which is important here and the creative team has beautifully designed the future micro tracks keeping these fairy tales in mind.
Let me start, shall I??? I will list the stories that fit in the scenes and the innuendos and will describe the analysis story wise. There are a couple of stories where I have doubt as I still cannot recall the English one of it and would be glad if any one of you can help me in that.
Transcribing of folktales has a long tradition both in India and abroad. The Grimm Brothers and their collection of folktales established transcription and typography rules that remained valid for more than a century till the time of Propp's Morphology of the Folktale (1928).
Here goes the BRILLIANCE of the creative team:-
1. The Gingerbread boy
2. Snow White and 7 dwarfs
3. The Elves and the Shoemaker
4. The cunning Fox and the Goat / The Wolf and the Lamb
5. The curse of the needle (It's Brahman Brahmoni in Bengali)
6. Ringing Bell (I need to know the Indian version of this story) or Pied Piper of Hamelin
The first hint I had when last to last week Maami saw the mirror during the family tree time and asked the mirror - "I am the most beautiful, isn't it??" I curved my brows and then kept the thoughts aside as there were no such scenes to follow that up. Then came the second hint when I watched Khushi cutting the cucumber and she pricked her finger; I wanted to touch upon that but where was the follow up??? That episode was all about - "AR 36 K". So, left it there along with Khushi's insanity; The came the apple of Arnav which was the link to Sin, 36 and 40. So, it was all about Judgment, hence, left it there. Then came flower and the shrub scene which left me thinking but I didn't have any follow up. Since last 3 episodes I am seeing Khushi running away from Arnav in the fear of "getting eaten", I mean killed but still it looked like comedy to me and there were bigger message hidden so left it aside. Then came the biggest hint and that is the "POTLI" which helped me to decipher the whole current scenes and how the creative team have designed and used the "MORAL" of the stories. They didn't follow the stories per se, but they used them as a "Theme" and incorporated in their own way.
I will used the stories and link them with the scenes so that helps you all to understand.
The Gingerbread Boy:- This story is about the "gingerbread cookie" popularly known as the "The Gingerbread Runner" who keeps on running from everyone for the fear of being eaten. It didn't click me before but then when today she informed Payal about "Poori Kumari" then it clicked the story called - "Poori Jo Kadhai Mein Se Nikal Ke Bhagi", which is a retold version of European fables - "The Gingerbread Man". I was like, Dang it. Here it goes. Many of you can now relate to this story with the way Khushi was running away from Arnav for the fear of getting killed. In the story, the gingerbread boy jumps out of the oven and then keeps on running away from everyone on his way and finally came near the Fox. The fox then offered him to help cross the river and take him to land on the other side but in the middle of the river when the Fox suggested him to come sit on the nose, then the gingerbread boy waited until they reached the shore as he knew that the fox will gobble him up. So, when the fox reached the shore, the gingerbread boy jumped onto the rock and ran away saving himself. Here fox is Arnav as he is clever and also cunning. The same thing will happen on Monday when Arnav will try to save Khushi from jumping off the terrace then she will try to get to know the truth of the wedding and will save herself. Now isn't it amazing how the CVs have used a "Fable" to show the track? The only thing that lacked is in the execution and that Khushi is not a 9 yr old rather she is 23 years old and this was not needed but since Khushi is a girl who believes in fairy tales, the designing can be justified and not the execution. There were many such ways to take them to the terrace and depict the scene but certainly this execution didn't help at all.
Snow White and 7 Dwarfs:- I assume everyone of you know this story by Grimm Brothers. I presume the CVs have started thinking in this line because of the "Mirror Mirror" movie been released recently and they have taken the original version of the same because there the snow white will use the "roots (Jadi Booti)" to throw the piece of the apple and not the "Kiss". How did I arrive to this??? Well as I mentioned I had the doubts when Maami saw the mirror as she said - "I is the most beautiful here". But, Maami is not the evil one here. The evil one is Shyam that was confirmed today. Then the second hint was - "while cutting the cucumber, Khushi pricked her finger and got the blood". The third hint was - "Arnav with the apple". The fourth hint was today , when Khushi said - "Anjali di, yeh chamatkari jadi butiyon wala khaas morobba hum aapke liye chod ke jaa rahe hain, aap aur aapke bacche ke liye faayde mand rahega". Then came the fifth hint when she said "7 saal purana mojri", the number 7. The sixth hint was Arnav's holding the "Faasi ka fanda". Then the seventh and major hint - "Safed (white) shirt and safed Mojri and also the milk" and the last hint when Buaji said - "humara haath upar tak nehin pahunchta (which means Dwarf)". Any more hints you all want for the "theme" of Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs???
Of course not right. So, here the main villain is Shyam who will try to poison the baby later on and then the 7 Dwarfs - Guptas and Aakash and Arnav is the "Knight" will save Anjali and the baby later on. What a future track we will have now. In the original story a pair of heated iron shoes are brought forth with tongs and placed before the Queen. She is then forced to step into the iron shoes and dance until she drops dead but here Arnav was holding the "Ring of the rope" which means "Execution" for Shyam Manohar Jha.
The Elves and the Shoemaker:- I assume here also everyone knows this story. The first hint came when Khushi said - "Yeh Mojri Naaniji ke liye" and then I thought why she mentioned 7 years here. Definitely there is a link and then the "Piggy Bank" to Buaji. There should be the connection. Well what else than "Elves and the Shoemaker"??? Above all Buaji already had confirmed that she is the "Elf" with her innuendo - "haath upar tak nehin pohunchta". This is a story where "Humanity" is the main message and I and Tant have always said that it will be Buaji who will be helping Arnav and Khushi in defeating Shyam. In the main story the elves helped the shoemaker and the shoemaker and his wife helped the elves with clothes and shoes just before the celebration. Another hint of celebration when Khushi said she named one girl as - "Fuljhadi" and we use them in Diwali. So, the track for Shyam getting caught will end in Diwali mostly. Here cometh the hints of Buaji helping with the Rat medicine and many such innuendos where it's proved that she will help to bring out the real Shyam even with the file too. When she and the Guptas will help Arnav and Khushi, then she will also be helped to be financially independent as indicated when Khushi gave the "Piggy Bank" to her like the way the shoemaker and his wife helped the elves with what they needed. Here goes peeps the "Theme" of the story.
The cunning Fox and the Goat:- This story came to my mind when I heard Khushi saying "bhediye aur hiran ki kahani". But in general I am not aware of any such story of the wolf and the deer but I know the "wolf and the lamb". Then again, here I must take "the cunning fox and the goat" story because of the innuendo - "Maut ki meethai" and "Meethe muh ki maut". As per the story of the cunning fox and the goat, the fox felt very thirsty and he found some water in the well but he couldn't come out of the deep well but then he saw a goat and the goat being the gullible one fell in the trap and he jumped in the well to taste the "Sweet water", maut ki meethai. The foolish goat believed the words of the fox and jumped into the well. The clever fox climbed over goat's back and came out of the well easily. The foolish goat was left in the well.
The Innuendo of Khushi - "Safed shirt pe jalebi ki daag ki tarah jiddi hai" means Arnav will punish Shyam by hook or crook as he is stubborn. In this context, the same thing is going to happen as Arnav with the help of Buaji will put Shyam in his own trap and that's why it's said - "maut ki meethai" and "Chaashni mein lipti rehshyamayi maut ke saath kya raaz chupa hua hain". Chaashni means - "Sugar syrup". Arnav and Khushi and Buaji will allure Shyam to fall in the trap and then he will be caught. "Meethe muh ki mauth" means death of a sweet talker which is Shyam.
In this context either the cunning fox or the wolf and the lamb story will work where the lamb will sweet talk the wolf and then the wolf will be beaten to death.
The curse of the needle (It's Brahman Brahmoni and Kankanmala Kanchanmala in Bengali) :- I exactly don't remember this story because all my Bengali books are in India but this much I remember that goddess Sashti bestows the gift of bearing a child to the wife of a Brahmin by instructing her to eat a certain cucumber (Brahmon Brahmoni), this came to my mind when I saw Khushi eating cucmber and her finger pricked which is related to "Snow White". Then there will be a "Promise" broken between two friends which Khushi informed to Payal and then the word Kanta and Injection. There is a story if anyone can shed lights upon from any culture will be helpful. I seriously don't remember but there is a story definitely.
Ringing Bell:- This is related to the "Bell" that Khushi intended to tie around Laxmi's neck. I searched a lot but I couldn't find the Indian version of this story. I have read this Fable here in the States but I don't remember reading it in Bengali or Hindi. So, anyone knows this version let us know please. The story talks about a Mother who ties a bell around the neck of the baby lamb so that she can always find him. But then one day the wolf comes and the moment goes to eat the baby lamb his mother saves him by offering herself as the food. Then the lamb joins the wolf and one day takes revenge. Mom Sheep dies to save the kid lamb and then the Kid Lamb takes revenge when he sees the same situation which Khushi will be bringing here. I still am in ambiguity in regarding this story and the connection but it definitely is linked with the "Suicide" point that Arnav's Mom committed and which Khushi is also taking. So, I need help here or I need some more time to find a suitable story here. There is definitely a link here.
See the IRONY here. "ASR's Will" projected Shyam's Judgment keeping him tied with Anjali whereas "Khushi's Will" projected Shyam's Execution; Didn't they prove that Arnav is from North (wisdom/thoughts) and Khushi is from West (Conclusion/fullness) ???
This was the entire present and future track that the creative team has visualized and kudos to all the members of the team who have thought of this. I will still say the thought process was fantastic but the execution is what they really need to work upon. The "Snow White" they could have thought because of the "Mirror Mirror" movie of Julia Roberts just released a couple of months back.
Happy weekend to you all. Enjoy reading Fables. I leave you with the quote by Albert Einstein ~
