Calculated Risk

Concept: - Nupur and Samrat are childhood buddies. Both works in Sharma Foundation Laboratories, Chandigarh, Nupur is two years junior to Samrat. She joins as intern whereas Samrat is a junior scientist.

Samrat blows Sharma labs with his experiments which costs his job. Now Samrat requests Nupur to go and meet the CEO of Sharma labs Mr. Mayank Sharma to save his job.

What happens when two people of same characteristics meet at one place?

Chapter-1

"Stupid saree, stupid saree arrggeee, by god I just want to kill the person who invented Saree" Nupur standing infront of mirror adjusts her saree, cursing it for nth time. Today is the anniversary day of Sharma Foundation Laboratories. Everyone has to dress up in saree what Nupur really hates to core. Grown-up with three brothers and one male friend she took up all the manners of boy instead of girls. She hates to dress-up or do make-up like girls. She always prefers wearing jeans and shapeless T-shirts which hide her beautiful figure. She doesn't to attend this party but due to Samrat she is go to the party. Samrat is her best friend from childhood. After her graduation she joined Sharma Labs as an intern under Samrat. Today she also completed her one year in Sharma Labs as intern. To attend the party she wears a white embroidery saree with pearl ear rings and simple chain with small locket. Only one girly thing in Nupur is she likes bangles a lot. Though she wears them very rarely but has a lot of different collection of bangles. She got ready with little kajal and lipstick. She is irritatingly stands infront of the mirror cursing the saree because her bangles are getting stuck with the saree laces. Suddenly Nupur hears someone taking a deep breath and turns towards her bedroom door. Samrat is standing at the room with an open mouth adjusting his specs. Nupur gives him a look like asking 'what'. Samrat "Nupur you are looking like a girl" and starts laughing. This irritates Nupur more. She takes the comb beside her and throws on Samrat which he catches still laughing comes and sits on her bed. Nupur notices Samrat with a serious look "where is the tie?" Samrat "I hate ties." Nupur "Even I hate saree but I wear it right." She puts her hand infront of Samrat "Now give me your tie." Samrat takes the tie from his pocket and gives to Nupur looking at her with a sad irritating face. Nupur ties the tie "Listen today Mayank Sharma is coming to the party. You have to make a good impression on him. So you need to look smart" She looks into his eyes and asks "why are you still wearing that stupid glasses where is your lens" Samrat makes baby face "one more thing I hate." Nupur takes an irritating breath keeps her hands on her hips says sarcastically "by god, it looks like I am getting ready to make impression on Mayank Sharma not you" she points her finger to Samrat "look as I said you need to look smart infront of Mayank Sharma. With your big big glasses you are looking like dumb boy. You have already got a second warning that to directly from Mayank Sharma. So you need to be very careful in the party. And make as much good impression as you can. Understand." Samrat nods his head obediently and take the lens from his pocket to wear them. Samrat is a scientist in Sharma labs. He is very intelligent but once he immense himself into the notes he forgets about the outside world and due to this he does small mistakes in calculating the risk, which lead to explosions in the lab. The first explosion was very small one so Mayank Sharma left without warning but Samrat got warnings from his superiors. But the recent and second explosion has shaked Mayank Sharma who is sitting in Delhi. This explosion cost a lot of millions for Sharma Labs. Though it is covered by the insurance but Samrat got a strict warning directly from Mayank Sharma if one more mistake Samrat will be out of Sharma Labs. So today for the annual day party Mayank Sharma is coming. Nupur has never seen Mayank Sharma, just heard about him as a ruthless, arrogant and don't care natured person but devilishly handsome. Mayank Sharma is a self-made man. He is in his collage when he lost his both parents in a plane crash. His parents left him enough money to complete his post-graduation and start a Lab in Chandigarh. He himself is a good scientist and also a good business man. Once his Labs got good name, he started different branches in North India. Slowly he established a Sharma Foundation and stepped into different business like builder, finance, import and export of lab equipment etc. Today she is going to see him for the first time. She wants Samrat to make an impression on Mayank so that Mayank knows the value of Samrat, how hard working and dedicated he is. Nupur hopes Samrat won't make a fool of himself today in the party, as he is her best friend and she cannot see him getting hurt or in pain. After Samrat wears his lens, Nupur "Listen today we will have a small ball dance or couple dance whatever it is. So I have learned few steps from my friend and I will teach you just remember and do only those steps that to only with me. I donot want you to dance with any other girl and make another disaster. Understand." Samrat nods his head. In the annual party there will be ball dance which Mayank Sharma will start with the oldest employee of the Lab. Then the others follow. He never dances with any young girl; thought girls die to dance with him. It became like a custom in the annul party. Every year girls wait for a chance to dance with him thinks atleast for one year he will break his custom and will dance with them. But till now there is no such luck for the girls who are working in Sharma Labs. Nupur goes near to Samrat and keeps his hand on her waist and teaches him few steps. Samrat steps on Nupur leg. Nupur shouts "ouch" and gives a tight slap on his shoulder. Samrat "what can I do. I donot know dancing" rubbing his shoulder. Nupur takes a deep breath "by god, iss ladka ka main kya koru" she looks at ceiling like talking with god. "ok listen remember like this 1-2-3 and 1-2-3 that's all only one step is enough for the evening. We will dance for 5 minutes for the formality sake and we will sit at the corner. Ok" Samrat "Ok, as you say." Nupur "now smile baba." She puts her hand on Samrat either side of lips and stretches it into a curve shape "It ok nothing will go wrong." Samrat gives her an innocent smile "Nupur, Mayank sir will listen to me naa." Nupur "of course he will listen to you. You are one of his best employees. If we searching with a lamp in his hand then also he cannot get an employee like you." Samrat gives her a million dollar smile. Kutumb enter the room says seeing Nupur "haye rabba, kya lag rahe hain mare beta saree ma. Kisi ki nazar na laga. If you get ready like this I am sure some rajkumar will come take you away" keeps a kajal a tikka behind Nupur's ear. Nupur rolls her eyes "mom, please donot start now. And tell me how Samrat is looking." Kutumb gives a confusion look "kyu ishka swayamwar hain kya." Samrat laughs at kutumb. Nupur "by god, mom marriage ka alava you wonot think anything. Give me a break." Suddenly everyone hears some loud sounds. Kutumb "haye rabba, mera kitchen.." She runs towards the kitchen along with Nupur and Samrat. Ishaan is lying on the floor with lot of flour on his head and body. Kutumb sees the scene infront of her and puts her hand on her head "Ishaan, how many times I have told you to keep away from my kitchen. Why don't you listen to me?" Ishaan Nupur's third brother and Samrat's friend. Ishaan want to start his own fast food restaurant, so he does experiments on food in their kitchen making it a mess. Once he enters the kitchen he changes the naksha of kitchen before completing his experiment. Later it is like hell for kutumb to clear the mess. Whatever it may be he has magic in his hands. He cooks very well thought it is an experimental food. He took this art from Kutumb who is herself a good cook. Samrat and Ishaan studied together in school. Later both got separated and went to different collages, Samrat took science as specialization and Ishaan also took science as main subject but just a correction it is home science to learn cooking. Nupur was with them till they left the school and later she followed Samrat in studies. Though Nupur is intelligent enough to carry on her studies with post-graduation like Samrat. But she donot want to be a burden on her father who won't say no to her wishes. Educating three sons and making them settle in their lives is not an easy task for her middle class parents. She stopped her studies with graduation and took the job in Sharma labs to support her family. Though Inder Bhushan never takes money from Nupur, but save her money for her future.

Seeing the scene unfold infront of their eyes, Nupur and Samrat tries to hides their laugh seeing Ishaan bathing in cornflour. Kutumb catches Ishaan's ear "besharam kahika if you come once again to kitchen I will kill you. Donot know what mistake I made I got a girl in form of Ishaan and boy in the form of Nupur.pata nahin khon shaadi karena isse" looking at Nupur. Ishaan and Samrat say slowly at once "bechara." Nupur hears that and glares at Ishaan and Samrat turns to kutumb "mom, stop taking about my shaadi. From last one hour you are taking only about my marriage. If you talk one more time about marriage I am warning you I wonot wear saree on Vidith bhaya's marriage. Remember." Kutumb shakes her head "dekho ek saree pahenvana kalye mera jaan nekal rahe hain yaa. Aur vaha eska papa saree ki shop chala raha hain." Vidith Nupur's second brother is getting engaged and soon to get married to his childhood sweetheart Seema. Kutumb is roaming around Nupur to request her to wear a saree or lehanga and look like a girl in the functions so that some guy will like her and will marry her. Kutumb always sees the dream of Nupur's marriage, she want to see Nupur marrying some rajkumar and leads a happy life like rajkumari. She never wants Nupur to work outside; she always taken care of Nupur's every small need. It is Inder who allowed Nupur to take a job not to support the family but to make her independent. Nupur gives a last glare to Kutumb and turns to Samrat "come let's go we are getting late. Have you bought your car" Samrat "yes, want to drive" Nupur stops walking and glares her Samrat. He gives her an innocent and confused look then understands "ok ok saree. Fine I will drive". Nupur nods and goes towards car praying her stars that Samrat should make an impression on Mayank Sharma. But she doesn't know that she going to meet her rajkumar as her mother desires.
