After giving budding directors like Abhinay Deo (Delhi Belly), Anusha Rizvi (Peepli Live) and Kiran Rao (Dhobi Ghat), a break, Aamir is now supporting another debutant director Deepak Diwedi.
Dwivedi is all set to make a film about friendships across religious and cultural barriers set in Agra called 'Kashmiri Glasshouse'. The film would be shot on location this winter in Agra.
Diwedi who has no prior experience in film making is obviously excited about being backed by none other than Aamir Khan himself. Says a source, "Like Anusha Rizvi whose script Aamir spotted on his email, Deepak Diwedi's story of a friendship between Agra-wallahs, one a sari-shop owner and the a photo-frame shop owner caught Aamir's attention and he liked the idea immensely. Aamir then asked Diwedi to edit the script and gave a nod to produce the film immediately."
The film ""Kashmiri Glasshouse"" was to be shot in teh early part of this year but Aamir got caught up with his television show. The film also see the re-launch of Chandan Roy Sanyal, who played Shahid Kapoor's psychotic friend in ""Kaminey"" and also in ""F.A.L.T.U."" Chandan has been finalized to play one of the leads, the role of the Sikh sari shop owner.
"Aamir is also grooming Chandan and asked him to prepare for his part. Chandan will be growing a proper beard and spending time in Agra. When Aamir saw Chandan's audition he immediately selected him and recalled seeing him in ""Kaminey"". Amir feels the young actor has all the potential to be a successful actor."
When contacted Chandan Roy Sanyal refused to divulge anything about the project lest he annoys his mentor. "I am really not supposed to talk about this. There have been too many slips between the cup and the lip for me," said the actor.
Recently Chandan lost the pivotal role in Sujoy Ghosh's ""Kahaani"" of Vidya Balan's supportive cop-companion (the role that Parambrata Chatterjee played). Apparently Chandan was on location in Kolkata when he was forbidden by producer and virtually forced back to Mumbai for the shooting of ""F.A.L.T.U.""
Says Chandan, "I lost both ""Kahaani"" and Santosh Sivan's ""Urmi"" while shooting for ""F.A.L.T.U ."" It Happens. No regrets. Which is why I don't want to talk about this wonderful opportunity that Aamir Khan Saab is giving me. All I can say is, it's a script and a role of a lifetime. Any actor would give his right hand for it."
