I think a lotta women do that, but not always. Many women won't even take such things to the courts, even if such an incident has taken place for real, let alone playing the victim.

Some women play the "victim" card, true. But their number is still very less compared to the number of actual victims who are still afraid to speak up in the face of actual sexual harassment. And many still get viewed suspiciously on reporting. By the Protectors of the Law, no less. A very recent and model example is the Kolkata Park-street rape case. Google it up.

Care to clarify "always" anyway?

Quite agree with that

I think we must not always get rape, molestation , eve teasing to depict women as always being the victim.

Life is not all about rape and so this topic shouldn't be restricted to rape.

Lets take a very minute example of Delhi Metro : There is a seperate bogy for women and 4 seats reserved in every compartment...

still i and even my father have been asked to vacate their "general" seats to young girls, old ladies with no discomfort, just because its good manners and if u don't wanna get humiliated.

I have known women in offices to have asked for favours to get a promotion or to get close to the "boss"...

Many ladies scream the roof off when in trains even on a slight push, due to rush at office hours...

so we must not generalize any gender as not every guy who accidentally touches you is a rapist.

For Aitraaz, in real life 99% of the time the victims do not have courage to report. out of the 1% who report, 99% do not get justice, are treated with contept, aspersions on their character are cast and so on, so this assumption is made. I don't know which court was shown in the movie, but in real life Indian courts will first believe the victim was of loose moral character.
For dowry killings, it exists. The no of innocent girls killed, or abetted to commit suicide is far far more than the conniving ones that use them to their own advantage.

There are good and bad side of each laws and good and bad people. But general trend is women are usually victimized, more than often by other women. A rape victim is raped by a man,but often they are lured in by female accomplice, their character is put into question by other women only.
Also there are women who takes advantages of this law. It is not so easy to screen and police which complaints are genuine and which are not.
So judging by statistic, law takes the probable course .

On topic, why do women play gender card. If you do not like it, do not play it. be the change you want to see in others.

true taani ...its funny but i feel most of the time its man who play gendar card they easily play women cherectar card n turn all the situation against women ...after this women apney cherectar ki save karti rah jaati hai n men apney fault pe se attation divert karney mai succecfull ho jaatey hain

Nothing sarcastic. I was genuinely impressed at the nitpicking.

Nothing valid. The post was meant to create distraction. They know what the OP is trying to say. Attacking the semantics of OP to dilute the point.. was that necessary?

In case people think that what OP was saying was wrong, then there is always a way to find it out. Google is your friend. Search "false sexual harassment claims" or "female harassing male" or "false rape claims" ... you get the point - there, I provided 3 examples.

The point of discussion, I believe from the OP was to in a bigger picture sense, debate if women are getting unfair advantage due to their gender since laws are more women friendly when it comes to rape. I applaud OP for even providing an example from a movie. So what if it was a work of fiction? I believe if you remove the whole example from the OP, the point will still remain the same. I do not think example is needed to open up a debate.

@ bold.. i don't quite agree!
taking into account what happens in the real world, how many times have women gotten away with things and gotten advantage using the gender card? perhaps the laws are more 'women friendly' as you put it, however fact remains that most women who are raped do not always get justice.. there are some cases where some men are targetted as well, but those cases are far and few in between. so the OP's point of women "always" using the gender card and getting undue advantage is not only untrue. it holds very little water in real world! all you have to do is look at the statistics..
as for the examples, the false claims, and the harassment by the females - again, small fish in the ocean.. there are women who manipulate the system.. it's unfortunate.. because such women falsely spread the misconception that women are getting advantage due to their gender, when the reality is that most women are at a disadvantage precisely because of their gender!
things might be changing but our society still remains quite male dominated (not just the east, but in many western countries as well although the gap is not as great).. look at any organization (in any field), how many women do you see in top positions? men always get the advantage when the promotion time comes along.

can we get some real examples of the basic theme that 99% of time women are sufferers?

Not stories of serials or stats from government databases...

Also what women sympathizers have to say about models/actors/item girls who are happy to promote "bare minimum clothing " ? eg: rakhi sawants/poonam pandey's...magazine shoots ?

have you been in a crowded bus or metro and being groped? Oh sorry you are a man, you wont be.
99% of us have been. You do not need to go far, all the women in this forum have been once in her life touched inappropriately in a crowded bus. and 99% of us were either too young, immature or too scared to make a hue and cry. So there you go, real life example.

Second one, ask any woman who travels in ladies compartment in local trains. I do whenever i am travelling alone in India. Why? coz when i take the general one, even when i am with my middle aged mother, we are stared at. In seats marked for 3 people, during rush hours, 4 or 5 women sit in ladies together, but when i travel in general, the number becomes double and it seems all of a sudden the men have to throng and stand right in front of me. So there you go, another real life example.

Another example: two names baby afreen and baby falak. Did you read about baby amar or baby aamir?
In the ground level, the level where we all come from, discrimination exists blatanly. Thats because consciously or uncosciously we are conditioned to think and believe men are superior. That probably you yourself think like that.
Else why point to woman sympathizers about bare minimal clothe promoting models. Shouldn't that be a personal option? Why is it you feel the need to point it out? Why is clothing such a big deal? why is it women need to cover themselves up "properly" and modestly? Why are voices not heard when bare bodied males pose with naked torso? Why do we see people walking around in see through tee shirts and shorts when they do not have the bodies for that? Don't you think we women might find it indecent?

As i said before, there will always be people who take advantage of the rule. But the rules are made keeping the general trend in mind. This thing will surely change, but the change must come from within. Both men and women alike.
