Being girl i m opening this thread but its fact that women always play gender card to get sympathy. Main question: Is it ok for woman to always play victim/gender card all the time..? It is not necessary that men are wrong all the time but in every case women are getting lots of importance. Example is movie aitraz where priyanka chopra was forcing herself on akshay kumar and then filed rape case. Court easily believed that. Why?

For Aitraaz, in real life 99% of the time the victims do not have courage to report. out of the 1% who report, 99% do not get justice, are treated with contept, aspersions on their character are cast and so on, so this assumption is made. I don't know which court was shown in the movie, but in real life Indian courts will first believe the victim was of loose moral character.
For dowry killings, it exists. The no of innocent girls killed, or abetted to commit suicide is far far more than the conniving ones that use them to their own advantage.

There are good and bad side of each laws and good and bad people. But general trend is women are usually victimized, more than often by other women. A rape victim is raped by a man,but often they are lured in by female accomplice, their character is put into question by other women only.
Also there are women who takes advantages of this law. It is not so easy to screen and police which complaints are genuine and which are not.
So judging by statistic, law takes the probable course .

On topic, why do women play gender card. If you do not like it, do not play it. be the change you want to see in others.

I don't think it is that surprising considering I don't see following
1) Three women lured innocent man and raped him
2) Paro was rejected by devdas and she threw acid on him to disfigure his face
3) A tribe buried 3 men alive and told government stay out of it as this is our tradition
4) After death of wife, a man self immolated himself (white dress the other option)
5) A boy was killed by his mother for seeing a girl - she claimed it was family honor
6) In a marriage ceremony, a girl came with barat to boy's house and took him to her home.
7) An 80 year old woman married a 20 year old boy
8) Men in shuttlecock burqas
9) Men sitting in back seat, women driving. And before anyone points me out, men not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia lol
10) Asif Zardari changed name to Asif Bhutto
11) Men performing item numbers a) munna badnam hua b) mein hon kaka, kaka ki jawani
12) A woman took hostage and killed 15 people
13) A group of women hijacked planes and slammed them into buildings
14) President Dolly ordered attack on a country
15) Men were not allowed to vote and were asked to stay home during election
16) A boy's school was blown up by women
17) An innocent boy was going to college when a group of girls outside checked him out
18) A family threw a party when girl was born, next year there were constipated faces on birth of a baby boy.
19) In news, baby boys are being aborted and ratio of girl/boy is increasing
20) A group of women discriminated against men by liking each other's post
I know a typical response can come from men or even women. Men will try to act hero while women will think oh poor men are not that bad. It is a typical emotional reaction that you get. Let me explain lol.
I think there is a history and because of that history we see the issue of gender card which I agree is there. It is a man dominated society and almost all the time there is one way discrimination. That is why we see such a card. They have reasons lol.
Personally I am against favoring anyone regardless of the history. The reason is you cannot punish young for the bad deeds of the old. However for that wee need to be first fair in present. Here the situation is that society maybe is still not fair in many parts of the world.
P.S I present my point in light hearted manner so please focus on overall point lol.

I don't get it either...why do women need to glorify themselves and play victim all the time...on one hand we have a modern woman who wants to be treated equal to her male counterpart ...whether its at home, school or work...but at the slightest instigation the same woman will play the gender card...
We see msg floating around on FB about how great a woman is , how great a mother is...agreed mothers are great...but so are fathers...why do we have to undermine the role of a dad in a child's life...
How many of us hear the stories of whole families being put in jail or committing suicides because their DIL didn't like them and charged them with a false dowry case...how many times do we hear the stories of men being abused by women...How many times do we hear the stories of men being raped...
Its true that men are physically stronger than women but when it comes to being evil...women take the cake...i wish that people would stop playing any type of card...whether its the gender card or race card...its disgusting...because when one woman uses a gender card...she is putting the credibility of several genuine women at stake..

Women play safe, is probably the answer to your question. I am not saying that half the male lot is not vile and insensitive, all I am saying is women have a thing at manipulating their own sex and using it as some sort of safeguard, sometimes they use it to get their work done as well. Women are victims a lot, but not all of em. Likewise, most men are worth all the loathe in the world but others aren't. Everybody, regardless of their sex is perfectly capable of being both jerks and respectable people. So, I guess it's like some women think it intelligent to say both 'I am no less than any man' and 'You won't hit a woman, will you?'.

In the context of the OP, if we are talking strictly about rape, it is easily palatable that a male raped a female when female is complaining. This is because of data available related to genders for inherent strength, historical abuse of one gender over the other and sexual aggression. This is the reason why onus is usually (practically, anyway) on male to prove that he is innocent in cases of rape.

As for the other discrimination, well, there will be some that will exist forever. Women will be less preferred to do physically draining jobs such as building skyscrapers to working on a dockyard. Same way, men will be less preferred as a receptionist or a teacher or a nurse or a beautician. Does not mean that there are no exceptions.

I generally believe that we need to move past the history since now there is nothing that can stop women from becoming a CEO of Pepsi.

Wow! I completely missed that! Your attention to details is unbelievable!

Now, do you have anything to add to the substance of the OP? Or were you just here to point out what you pointed out?

Sperm-hunting women prowl Zimbabwe highways

Published on Mar 23, 2012

MASHAVA, Zimbabwe (AFP) - Ms Susan Dhliwayo was stunned when she pulled her car over recently to pick up a group of male hitchhikers and they refused to get in. The reason? They feared being raped.

Sensational reports of gangs of beautiful women picking up male travellers to have sex and harvest their sperm in condoms have gripped Zimbabwe in a dizzying mix of taboos, rituals and the downright bizarre.

'Now, men fear women. They said: 'we can't go with you because we don't trust you',' 19-year-old Ms Dhliwayo recounted.

Local media have reported victims of the highway prowlers being drugged, subdued at gun or knife point - even with a live snake in one case - given a sexual stimulant and forced into repeated sex before being dumped on the roadside.

Was this necessary? What she said is valid, one can't take a movie example and apply it to real life. The story shown in the movie may be happening in real life but being a work of fiction is not valid as an example in a debate.

I have told you earlier also, your behaviour is unnecessarily hostile at times and it makes members wary of posting. If you have an objection to what the member said put your reasons in plain language instead of being sarcastic and hostile.
