Star Plus daily Kavyanjali is nearing the finishing line. Says creative director Nivedita Basu, "We're downing the curtains in another month's time."
Highs and lows
Last January, this Balaji show went on air amidst big fanfare. However, last December, the show ran into controversy when leading lady Anita Hassanandani wanted to opt out. It was also reported that the channel was upset over the poor TRPs. Says Basu, "We have seen the highs and the lows, but I'm glad that the show has swung back into action. We plan to wind up on a high note."
Adds producer Ekta Kapoor, "Initially, we had plans to close the show in December last year with Kavya's (Eijaz) death. It got extended from December to March because we had planned to start a new show, Kasturi, in that slot. But it wasn't ready. Anita wanted to leave the show as she had film offers down South. Eventually, she couldn't take up those films as we required her to shoot for 30 days."
Yaadein
Says leading lady Anita Hassanandani, "I'm going to miss Kavyanjali, but at the same time, the monotony was killing me. After the show wraps up, I'll surely take a break. There are two Kannada films in the pipeline, too."
For Eijaz Khan, he got his first taste of stunts on Kavyanjali. "The show ensured plenty of thrills for me. I did my first-ever fire sequence and even had to hang from a five-storey building." While Amrita Singh feels, "The show reinstated my faith in myself that I'm capable of getting good work." Among the new entries, Iqbal Khan got noticed as the humble and comical Shourya. He says, "Kavyanjali gave me a new set of friends. Be it the cast or the technicians, I had a great time."
Kasturi is set to replace Kavyanjali from September. Kapoor informs, "Kasturi will come in place of Kavyanjali. The new show should start by next month."
