I agree with what you say. In some ways BBP's caving in to Brija only after a near death experience for Puja (perversely) makes sense - his being married and that to a political mafioso type family meant that pulling her in would only make things extremely messy for both of them. In reality, even if the marraige was dysfunctional, he really never should have led her on in the first place. And when he did, he should have explained why he did an about face when he came to Bhopal. Things might have been nipped (or not) but nevertheless he would at least have cheated on one person less.

I agree with societal morals, values and upbringing shaping one's thought. But there is one's own individuality and the freedom f choice. My problem with Shakuntala is also its reliance on motherhood during the "recognition". Dushyanth, when he going through his memory lapse, is shown yearning for an heir. And in Kalidasa's version of the events, he first spots his heir even before he runs into Shakuntala. I wish it had been in the reverse order. True, the way that they have displayed BBP indicates that Puja represents a path out of his bleak situation. And maybe having an heir would actually give him the guts to walk out of it. But nevertheless, wishful thinking...that women have polytomic identities, being a mother is only one of them. Also the way Puja's character is written, she herself might want only motherhood and acknowledgement as a wife, not the imposition of someone else's version of a career or economic independence. Let us see...

the biggest difference btw bbp and pooja is pooja is not ambitious and on the otherhand bbp is passionate abt his ambition ie CM.POJA want to achieve, become a popular singer only to give happiness to her love ones make her parents proud fulfill their wishes and thats all on the contrary bbp want to become powerful CM so as to take revenge from those who exploit him .he face a lot of humiliation in his life look the way rangoli treated him .he never experience a women love a love with out condition ,pooja never compete with him unlike rangoli who is jealous of bbp achievement she cant take it how can he become so powerful with out her help she want to control him like slave.for pooja bbp is like a hero .its just thier atitude towards life is so different.
