Shyamala, you disarmed me completely with my favorite line, "let's agree to disagree'😊 yes, let us enjoy each other's opposing views for after all "A man (or woman) convinced against his will is of the same opinion still"😉
I would not like Purvi madly dashing off to the airport, too cliche, but let us see what the writers have in store for us. Have not watched today's episode yet so no comments :)
bee, loved your posts.
salvatore-nina, lol, you have hit the nail on the head. Purvi is psychic, she is Ceasar's wife! 😆

As for the suggestion that Arjun should have gone to Manav and Archana instead of confessing his love to Purvi, you have not quite thought this through.

@bold: Why this assumption about me? Yes, I have thought through and hence reason why I wrote a para on it, otherwise I had no reason to write.

Hi Shyamala,

My statements about giving more time to Purvi was for Arjun and not for anyone else. May be I could request you to re-read my post, with that as the basis. 😊

Purvi's normal behavior with Manav, whether Manav deserves it or not and whether Purvi is correct in her such behavior is altogether a differebt topic and we may digress from the main issue here, which is about Purvi's behavior of yday. Same goes for the other points you mentioned about Purvi supporting Arjun on her shoulder at the hospital or allowing him to hug when she was crying. Simply put the intentions behind such acts were not bad or that laced with love that some folks think. I don't want to go in-depth here in that direction since the topic isn't about that.

So, given the chwal background and Arjun's insistence, @soapwatcher has explained that in much great detail and I agree to her points. I would use all her points in this argument, but since she has already written, I will not repeat them. But what I would like to add in addition is - What they showed Arjun doing looks all-so-romantic at the surface, but I think after having put his arguments, justifications, confession, Arjun should have left the place and not camped outside her house overnight. She comes from a chwal and tongues do wag and she and her family is the one on whom people would wag their tonuges against, not him. As far her behavior she has always shown to snap out when pushed to a corner. Just recollect the number of times she has had arguments with Arjun, her Boss. Not just you, even her mother Archana and her Grandmother, Sulochana, were ashamed of her behavior. Remember when Arjun comes to her house to get her back to work after the 1st resignation? She doesn't even let him come inside the house, she drinks-up the water that Sulo brings to offer to Arjun. In addition to she being simple, selfless girl and all that, she also has this thinking that falling in love is taboo, she is a headstrong girl who can give tit-for-a-tat, and she does cares about the chwal and the mohalla's wagging tongues.

In the morning, She does ask him to leave the place ASAP giving the reasons, but he disregards all that. In her own words "he wasn't even listening to what she was saying", that is when she snaps and is defending herself more. She feels attacked and hence her behavior. I am not justifying her behvaior, but what I am saying is given the way her character has been developed in the past, what she does is just expected of her because of the reasons she is citing. If they showed her running to him and hugging and saying "oh yeah I love you too" would be also good, but CVs showing her that way does look acceptable to me since it is consistent with her characterization so far.

As an aside, What Arjun should have done is instead of confessing to Purvi, he should have gone directly to Manav and Archana, then there would not have been any issue with Purvi's yday's behavior, but that wouldn't be all that romantic :-p But that is the only way to deal with people of chwal, mohalla, purvi and the likes, which is what Vinay did. He directly got the parents involved, there would be no wagging tongues in such scenarios, not the way Purvi is using as a reason now. It was the only right thing Vinay did, but he was another useless chap and it was good she didn't go ahead with that relation.

Dear bee5,

Oh dear, I seem to have upset you. I did not mean to do so, and I am really sorry!

This said, how do you think it would have worked out for Arjun if he had gone to Manav to ask for help?

Archana might have been a reasonable choice - you might perhaps remember that I had earlier posted that this might be the most sensible way for Arjun to go when he had the post-MMS falling out with Purvi, since Archana would be the one with the most influence with Purvi , Moreover, as she was the unaware of his commitment of sorts to Ovi, she would have had a soft corner for Aashna's son and would have helped him, at least initially. But then she would have found out about Ovi the minute she mentioned this to Manav, and the whole equation would have changed.

It is indeed a pleasure to interact with someone who can cap one's quotations so effectively!

No, I would not like the airport dash scene either, plus there would be some technical problems of location that would interest you.

Since visitors are not allowed into airports any more even for domestic flights, not to speak of international ones, if she is to meet him, Purvi would have to land up just as Arjun is unloading his luggage at the departure level.

Next, arrivals and departures are always at different levels in all major airports, because of the tunnel system of access to the aircraft. The access tunnel has to slope down, not up. So the departures level is always above that of the arrivals, which is normally at ground level. It is thus difficult to see how all the three can be within eyesight of each other.

Unless of course Ovi has arrived a good bit earlier, and has come out with her luggage at the ground level just when Arjun is getting out of his car, and Purvi is well placed to watch both of them from a taxi (or an auto).

Lastly, logically, Ovi should still be airborne the next morning when Arjun plans to leave - it takes a full day to get to India from Canada - but one never knows with the writers. They might just land her in Mumbai well before that, like Harry Potter apparating instantaneously from one place to another.

As for yesterday's episode, I was rather disappointed with the "seeing Arjun everywhere" plot device. It was an obvious shortcut to avoid having to devise several scenes as a slow build up. His words coming back to her mind is one thing: seeing him everywhere seems contrived, seeing how they have been interacting for the past few days. Before this, they never showed Purvi daydreaming about her interactions with Arjun the way he does about her all the time, so this sudden and very drastic change is
not very convincing. Asha's acting was somehow, to my mind, not quite up to par in the sequence - she was SO much better in the confession episode - and she has been photographed rather unflatteringly. I remember how lovely she looked in soft focus just before the fiasco of the engagement ceremony, and it was her face, not her get-up. They should make sure she always looks like that.

As for the character, Purvi seems to be changing her mind with bewildering rapidity, though, true to type, she still insists, for no discernible reason, that there is no question of any relationship between her and Arjun.

Well, well, let us wait and watch.

Thanks, Shyamala for the kind words :) You endeared yourself even more with the reference to Harry Potter, Pottermania rides at manic level at our home 😃
I was not too impressed with Arjun everywhere either except I thought he looked cute in the one scene where he stared at Purvi from across the street from the sidewalk.
The arrivals and departures at the airport might pose a problem for Ekta but she is probably counting on her viewers' willing suspension of disbelief when it comes to lapping up ARVI scenes. 😉
Cannot wait to see what the morning has in store for us!

Relax, this is positively the last message I am sending you on this thread, otherwise you will get exhausted responding so promptly and so nicely too!

Arjun was quite flat yesterday, but then he was moslty a prop in this sequence for Purvi to play off. I liked him only in the part where he guides her to the temple - he looked, for the first time in days, relaxed and at ease. Yes, I too liked the other scene when he is staring at her from across the street with his hands in his pockets. He looked like a young Steve McQueen, or a less handsome version of Brad Pitt. You know, one could easily mistake him for an American actor, he is very fair, and his features are more Western, of the rugged variety, than Indian.

I just needed to comment once again, and this time I shall just say this. I l truly love how you analyse the scenes and the characters. This sort os gives me a different angle from which I should think of why and what is happening.
Looking forward to seeing more of your analytical perception of the show and its characters.
Good Job. And loving the arguments presented by the others as well
