| Sushmita Sen arguably the most stylish diva in Bollywood, talks about her fashion sense, her sari liability, the colour that lifts her mood, her undying love for accessories and more. Fashion to me, more than any trends and latest designs, is a state of mind. What I wear often reflects my state of mind. We talk of cuts, styles and designs, but there's something more basic that catches the eye first and it's the colour. Being a very visual person, I do attach a lot of meaning to colours. I think the colour red is for passion and fury, and I have said before I am passionately furious. While I am bright and chirpy, which is most of the times, you will find me in black, which is my colour. I think no one carries black as well as I do. But there are times when I am not feeling that fabulous, and orange is the colour you will see on me, as it lifts me up somehow. Anyway, I have been known to be a flamboyant dresser, and I don't walk away from it. For a girl who was so awkward in sarees, post Main Hoon Na saris became my liability. Everyone thought I looked mind blowing in saris and wanted me to wear them all the time. Thank God, that phase is over, but yeah, I did get pretty comfortable in them and find them very elegant today. I love accessories, bags, watches, diamonds and boots. Do we make statements with our style and fashion, I don't know, and to what extent. But they say I have always been known as an accessories person. I love boots as I think they suit my personality (Sushmita has a huge collection of shoes, a walk-in closet full of them… and mostly all Manolo Blahniks) As far as my favourite designer is concerned, I think it would be Jean Paul Gautier, going by the number of Gautiers I have in my wardrobe. He is perfect for me. If you ask me about fashion disasters, you should know that Sushmita doesn't do disasters. Mistakes, yeah, who doesn't make them, but I don't like to repeat them and I certainly won't discuss them in print (laughs). And about the most expensive purchase, nothing that I wear and own comes cheap. |
