You know, I have been thinking...Don't you think the child character we have for Nanhi, looks a lot older? Somehow the cuteness quotient is being compromised, is my take...

Thoughts?

Hi all! If she is too young then she may not be able to contribute to the story much in terms of interaction with him. The girl in the picture is cute though. I think a good age needs to be established you know too young would be too easy too old may be not be so appealing.
@Ratna: wrist is a lot better. I have been resting my wrist a lot by limiting my pc time. Did you see NYT was picked for the FF awards as was Hasini for so many categories? Hasini, so proud for you!
H: did not know there was a Na bole tum forum. I am loving the serial story at this time too. The mega episode was so cute, haiii.

Avi ...glad u are feeling a little better atleast...i agree with your view on Nanhi...the girl Hasini gave us maybe older in real life but she looks really cute and young in the pics we saw...i could imagine all her scenes with Dhruv so clearly because of her 😊

I am so proud Hasini has been nominated...she so deserves it 👏

Part 8: Caught in the act

What caught her eyes first was the long ass history logs that browsers kept. A mere 5 minute search on him had turned up URLs and timestamps that ran a page and half long, with more text than all that she'd read about him put together. Her fingers shook, as she scanned the second page he'd given her. It wasn't a telltale of her little snooping activity at the internet center, but the mother of all exposes he could ever lay his eyes on; at least as far as it concerned her, the second sheet was.

The writing was that of Nanhi, her scraggly alphabets curving and stretching at all the wrong places, drafted over a pink sheet that was nearing its last days, its ends having tasted every kind of beverage at cafes and traveled with her acquiring 97000 air miles in the last one year alone. There wasn't much to read for another pair of eyes from the three lines that had been dictating her days and nights, her battles and her smiles, so far as to even define her allowed foibles, ever since she first lay her eyes on it.

The letter had brought an end to a different kind of life, put her at the entrance to another bulbulaiya, a chasm that she was still finding her way through. She'd had the letter in her bag forever and now she could picture how he must have gotten his hands on them too. For the lack of a better word, she must have been a jhalli and rushed through picking up the money she'd already counted and set aside in the same inside pocket of her handbag. The printout was another matter that had to be dealt with.

She looked up from the sheet, gazed at the far end of the street and muttered a prayer that her face hadn't given away much to him. It couldn't have appeared any different than a provoking cuss, which he was perhaps used to from women all the time.

"So...are you stalking me?" She asked, if she may be so bold.

"Sorry?" He had a disbelieving smile, a shake of the head that told her he thought she was nothing less than a six year old in playing the blame game.

"You are kidding right? Now let me get this very straight. In your hand is Your browsing history where its shows a search done by You for My history...and a good amount of time spent snooping in my blog. It was just my luck that Ashar gave me the same system you had browsed. But that didn't even come into the picture until I opened up my blog stats and...what do you know?...that someone from this very town had been visiting my blog..." He scratched his forehead now, a wicked smile lacing his lips "and forgetfully liked my blog entry. It wasn't quantum physics after that. All I had to do was ask Ashar who had visited the internet center before my coming in..."

The words floated around in her head and she bit back a smile, distinctly remembering the article's title and the shortest post she'd ever come across.

"Nirvana Annihilation...

Oh! Please...Sex is just a three letter word. Let it be..."

Well, the post had many undertones and she'd spent a good few minutes thinking what had made him write something of the sorts. But now, the man who had put her into that particular musing was standing in front of her, stolid in his presence, certain in his knowledge of the exact post she'd liked. Yikes!

Drawing in a deep breath, she turned to him, separating his printout from hers and she carelessly, if truth be told her gesture even carried the weight of her disposition for him while she thrust the paper back at him.

"Thanks for finding this...it means a lot to me" And she was ready to walk away.

"Arrey!" He unfolded his arms the same instant and caught her hand even before she could fully lurch forward.

She could see he was still working on a reaction and couldn't manage anything more than his usual two syllable shout-out. His grip was firm, a snare and her eyes closed momentarily, more so without her willing and she felt in the pressure from his fingers, his resolve, his impatience and the preamble of a long discussion they will have to have about his mindless wrist holding in the middle of their street in Lucknow.

"Chodo...What's gotten into you" All she could handle was a flick, a tight twist at her wrist, to have him let go of her hand, unceremoniously pouring all of her atrophied determination into that movement which didn't quite reach up to her mighty reserves of strength.

"Dhruv..." She called out to him in a hissing whisper and he drew his hand back without a fight, his eyes splayed with an angry persuasion.

He looked to his sides, much for a repose, his hands crumbling the printout just as they perched over his waist. She heard him take in a sharp breath before he addressed her again.

"Care to tell me what you were doing looking me up?"

She adjusted her handbag, noted that her left sandal's strap was ready to give up on her and that a few strands of wispy hair from the side of her face needed tucking. By then she'd also realized he'd addressed her with a falling tempo, his eyes beginning to appear even in its composure.

"Or what that letter means?...Why do you carry a letter that is addressed to D, when you claim that you are Chavanni's mom?"

"I had to look you up...what other options do I have?...Tug you in front of everyone in the road and ask you to give me proof that your background checks out" She shrugged, the last of her shivers contained in an awkward act to pull her dupatta around her shoulders.

His forehead creased and she didn't like that he was paying the kind of attention that made her feel her every word was under a grand scrutiny.

"Nanhi is always running away to Guru's terrace to play with him and now you are staying there...With all the air of mystery behind your returning to Lucknow, I had to make sure Nanhi was around...you know..." She looked over her shoulder then, wanting to gaze at anything but him, "safe people...How do I know you are not a Bhai, or a murderer or a lafanga or badmash or even worse a conman...who kidnaps little girls for money"

Whatever that was crushing against her throat, made her want to look up at him and she did, only to find him mildly amused, his one hand folded and his other elbow resting on it, while he rubbed his jaw and his single brow arched into a "really?"

She couldn't contain that small smile, that expression of small victory which she wasn't entirely sure of.

He didn't argue that personal logic mothers were entitled to have and so she cleared her throat, while his eyes stayed fixed on her, his keenness, hot and whistling right under her skin.

"The letter is what Nanhi wrote to her best friend when she was asked to stay back for a sleepover..." She paused again just as another blast of the day Nanhi had handed her the letter, hit her chest like that of a turbo jet of air.

"Nanhi doesn't like to sleep alone...she needs someone to pat her back...lull her into sleep" She said, sounding more wistful than she liked.

Right then a shovel of pixie wind blew through the open street and she cowered to have her dupatta in place. It took her a few seconds of fixing her hair before she raised her head back to him. He was implacable, the look on his face distant and yet studying now that he was loosely slouching onto the seat of his bike.

Without much contemplation, she smiled at him and began to move towards her home, when she heard him speak, his voice now tinged with a sliver of mockery.

"I take it, that is how I came across...a Bhai, a murderer, a lafanga, a badmash and a con-man?"

Her smile widened and she nodded slowly even as she stood with her back to him. She was walking ahead, but came to full halt when a fleeing retort came into her head a second later.

Turning about, she said, "Not all of them at the same time...but yes, sometimes I cannot deny that I was going for more than one"

"Ah! I see..." He nodded, his lips in a twitching half-smile and she liked to believe that was a sign he was more than half way convinced with her indisputable reasoning.

She gave herself a pat mentally and started towards her room like it was still a half mile hike up the mountain. The few minutes of sudden rendezvous, inclusive of the wrist-tugging and the brain freeze he gave her with his prodding was more than what she could handle after a full day with high school kids. Once home, she was going to get out of the rice sack, that was her clothes. If anything she could certainly use a shower and a cup of chai even. And if god had mercy on her, a few hours of reading after Nanhi slept, a much needed escape from the world she lived in.

But then she also knew it wouldn't matter to her if none of that materialized.

By the time she'd arrived at that cheerful indifference, she was working the latch of her gate. She stood there for a moment taking a full breath of air, making up her mind as she covertly titled her neck to see if he'd come along from where she'd left him. He was still there and though the distance obscured most of what he was looking at, she could tell, he was continuing to go through the print out.

Good! she thought. She'd cleared her history just before she'd started browsing the few of his articles that she'd saved for last. She smiled unto herself now, just as she thought about the number of pages he would have needed to print had he had access to her hour long meddling she'd done with his blog.

Prabhat Leher...she reminded herself as she closed the gate. If he thought she was snooping, then he didn't have to know that she had friends who snooped professionally, or should he?

Me first. 😃...will comment after reading,...
Part 8...finally they talked...i was expecting fireworks when all that anger and defensiveness meet...but was not disappointed because the sparks that flew were bright and fierce...our Mirchi madam is one step ahead of AB man in intelligence...she did not loose her cool even when she was caught...first she tries to accuse him before he does ...but after she explained the reasons for snooping on him my reaction was just like Dhruv 😛...

only to find him mildly amused, his one hand folded and his other elbow resting on it, while he rubbed his jaw and his single brow arched into a "really?"

So it was because of the computer and her clumsiness the two papers were with him...she unknowingly liked his article 😲...and that too what a topic...yikes indeed 😳

"Nirvana Annihilation...

Oh! Please...Sex is just a three letter word. Let it be..."

Hasini how do u get these ideas...just two lines but so much meaning 👍🏼

Coming to Nanhi's letter...there was something so sweet and sad that touched my heart 😭...does D mean Di/sister...and what was Leher doing that she travelled so many air miles...again she gave a lame excuse to escape his probing questions about the letter...he held her hand in the middle of the street and she called him Dhruv 😍...why was he so concerned what she thought of him...and all those smiles on both sides...hmmm...interesting 😉

The last few lines raised more questions...Prabhat Leher and Leher...are they any way connected or is it just coincidence...and Nany Drew has friends who snoop professionally...is this cue for Maan /PI to enter the scene ?...thank u my dear for the awesome update...tc 😊

But the guy in my head for Will-O'-the-Wisp is really this one (for the initial parts atleast. Moreover see all the books behind him? 😆 And this was a pic from the Hindu...So its only appropriate I pick this one for the reporter...LOL)

Don't ask me why I posted it? I thought I didn't need a reason to have a post with his pictures...😆
