Jassi's pre-nup dilemma
By: A hitList Correspondent
July 6, 2005

thelist@mid-day.com
The current track in the Sony daily Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin has Angel (Rakhi Tandon) convince her brother Armaan (Apoorva Agnihotri) to sign a pre-nuptial contract before his marriage with Jassi (Mona Singh).

Are pre-nuptials necessary in today's day and age? We ask some telly couples what they feel….

Manav Gohil-Shweta Kawaatra

Manav:
Today, divorce cases are on the high. I think it's a great and safe idea! Both husband and wife benefit from it.

Shweta: My trust cannot be a mere piece of paper. What's important in a marriage is love and trust. That's something no signed agreement can give.
Hiten Tejwani-Gauri Pradhan

Hiten:
There were no pre-nups in the times of our grandfathers and great grandfathers. Weren't they all happily married?

Gauri: There is no loss in a pre-nup, it will benefit women in making our future secure both financially and emotionally.

Hiten: To make the future secure, we need to be together, we don't need a signed document.

Gauri: Hmmm....The modern-day mantra is pre-nuptial agreements.

Hiten: I don't believe in it… it is not for us Indians.
Sai Deodhar-Shakti Anand

Sai:
Pre-nup? What is this? You mean registered marriage? We had a registered marriage.

Shakti: Arre.... this is an agreement which is signed before marriage.

Sai: Agreement?

Shakti: If a divorce occurs, it outlines who gets what.

Sai: Talking of divorce even before marriage? How unpleasant!
Vipul-Shefali Shah

Vipul:
It is a good concept. I feel everyone should try it.

Shefali: An agreement between a husband and wife on paper? What happened to love? Sorry, I am old fashioned.

Vipul: It's very with the times — for modern couples it is a good option.

i agree with Hiten and Shefali. It favours the girls most of the times, But I think The bond between the husband and wife shud be strong so as that shud not be broken only... I believe in love anytime than the papers
