Chapter 2
Rakesh drove Siddhi back hom to kapil's house.
Siddhi: Rakesh, I had a wonderful time tonight. Your mum's food was great. Just like old times. Remember, how we used to rush home to your house after school to eat your mum's snacks and even sneak food out...
Rakesh: Oh yes, how could I forget. You were my partner in crime. Hey, Siddhi, I am really glad to have met you today after such a long time. I missed you a lot
Siddhi: Yes, me too my friend. How time flies?. One minute we are children, now we are both working professionals. I am very proud of you Rakesh. i didn't expect you to be a surgeon but i am happy for you and your success.
Rakesh: And me too. Who would have thought, that you the quiet girl would turn out to be lawyer.? One of these days, I must come to the court and see you in session.
Siddhi said with a laugh : My husband is the better one . You should see him in action. Everyone fears him.
Rakesh who was smiling all this while , stopped, suddenly realized that Siddhi is married and longer available. For some reason this really bothered him. He did not like Kunal Chopra! He was sure the feelings was mutual.
Rakesh: Ah yes, I am sure he is fierce a force to reckon with... you must be happy to see him.
Siddhi : Yes, yes. hey its getting late. Thanks for the evening. I'll see before I leave.
Rakesh: What are your plans tomorrow?
Siddhi : What? oh, I am seeing some of our old friends in the country club. You know Priya, Rani, Jenny. Some catching up to do before I leave.
Rakesh : oh really...
Siddhi: Goodnight Rakesh!
Siddhi waved off Rakesh and went into the now darkened and silent house. She almost screamed in alarm when the lighst suddently went on.
An unsmiling Kunal was standing at the entrance of the living hall with him arms folded across his chest .
Kunal : Had a good evening with Rakesh ?
Siddhi shrugged her shoulders: Yes, wonderful evening. Why?
Kunal : Must have been too good for you to forget the time. You were out there with him for hours.
Siddhi: I was not out there with him. I was with his family. I was only away for like five hours. Its just midnight now.
Kunal said with a snarl: You must have been very happy to bump into him this morning and now having dinner with his family. How cozy.
Siddhi sighed and said ; Kunal its late. I am tired and am not in the mood to argue with you now.
With that she walked upstairs to her bedroom.She was in the midst of undressing, when Kunal opened the door and strode in and closed the door.
Siddhi: What are you doing in my room?
Kunal focused his eyes on her rigid features : Where do you expect me to be? In your brother's bedroom sleeping with your brother?
Siddhi blushed to her roots: No, but, you can't come in here. There's no room for you here. You have to find somewhere else to sleep.
Kunal : Sorry, you don't have any half berth here nor any mattress for me to sleep on the floor.:
Siddhi: Kunal be serious !
Kunal : Who's playing?. The bed is big enough. We both can sleep without disturbing each...
Siddhi gasped at him in stunning disbelief. : I am not sharing the bed with you. !!!
Kunal said with sarcasm: I will not outrage your modesty. On the contrary, I am more concerned for my safety:
Siddhi blinked : Huh, what did you say? Please Mr Kunal Chopra, dont think so highly of yourself. You are resistable. You dont have to worry about your modesty from me
Kunal fielded sombrely: That's good! Its settled then. Now both of us can sleep in the same bed with our modesty intact. !
He went to the bedside table and looked at Siddhi and brough her medcine to her with a glass of water.
Kunal : take your medicine and go to sleep.
Siddhi took the medication and went into the bathroom to change.When she came to the room, she could see, Kunal sleeping form in the bed. She walked to her side and climbed into the bed, trying her best not to make any sound. Gosh, this wa difficult than she thought. One part of her was shouting in happiness but a voice keep mocking her, that he does not seem to share her feelings. How nice it would have been if they are a real couple now. So much to demons to deal with, to put the past behind and move on...
With the unhappy thoughts, she went to sleep uneasily.
She woke with a start to someone whistling happily. She opend her eyes drowsily and took a peek. Shock immobilised her.
Kunal was standing in front of the mirror combing his hair. He had nothing on, except a towel hitched low on his hips. His back glistened with water with the shower he had just had..
Kunal caught her staring him from the mirror and smiled
Kunal: Hey sleepyhead, you woke up finally?
Siddhi: er. kunal What are you doing?
Kunal: Combing my hair. ( as if explaining to a small child)
Siddhi: I KNOW THAT! but what are you doing half . you know, I mean, ( she pointedly looked at his towel)
Kunal: The floor was wet. i could not possibly change there and after last night I dont see any reason why I should not change here. Anyway, its not the first time you have seen me like this you know...
Siddhi was sure her face was red as chilii powder: What do you mean after last night?
Kunal : You cannot remember what you did?
Siddhi looked totally confused now ...and suddenly she felt very chilly...was it her or the room...
Siddhi: Sorry I am not following you. What happened.?
Kunal : You would not let me sleep. You woke up in the middle of the night and started pawing me and then one thing led to another and another and you know things happened. and the rest is history now...
He continued and went on combing his hair after the bombshell he just dropped, and walked over to the cupboard to take a shirt and jeans.
Siddhi was fully awake now: Whaat? Me pawing you? I DID NOT DO THAT!!! You are making this up and besides I am fully clothed now. Kunal seriously, I think you are losing your sanity. Uff. really...
Kunal looked at siddhi raising his brows : Do you think I am joking? If I can get you out of clothes, I know how to put your clothes back on you. I am well trained. I dressed you up so that I didnt want you to know that you more or less outraged my modesty..
Siddhi looked at him with aghast and quicly climbed out of the bed and walked towards him .
Siddhi: Listen Kunal, I really cannot remember anything. I would not have done anything of that sort with you. Surely , I would have remembered.
Kunal's back was turned and Siddhi could not read his face. She wished she could see his face and read and figure what was going on here.
Kunal said carelessly. Suit yourself. Anyway, it wasn't that bad. i didnt know you could be so wild. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I am not complaining wifey.
Siddhi raked back at him in a furious hiss of condemnation that she could not restran: I know you are LYING. You making this up to make me feel bad.!
Kunal turned and looked at Siddhi with a deadly look: He walked slowly towards her with a panter like grace going in for his prey.
Siddhi was scared, pale as milk now and trembling. Kunal keep coming towards her and halted just inches away from her. He cupped her jaws with one hand, and with the hand , closed it around ther waist pulling her closer to him and brought his cheek closesto hers .
Siddhi was thinking. Oh my god,he's going to kiss me now and I am going to lose my sanity...I would not be able to stop myself or him.
Kunal tilted down his head and ran the side of his jaw back and forth over the smooth soft line of Siddhi's cheek, like a lion nuzzling for attention. The familiar aftershave lotion made her nostrils flare while the faint rasps of his rought skin made her nerve endings into life. He murmured softly into her ears.
Kunal : Go and make my breakfast. Eggs and cheese with ginger tea and I will tell you what happend yesterday night in detail if you want to know...
Siddhi prised herself from him and ran away from the room. She heard his laughter...
Siddhi was almost done with the preparation of the breakfast when Kunal walked into the Kitchen,. He was dressed in a long sleeve white mandarin collar kurta shirt and jeans. The sleeves were folded at his elbows. He sniffed the air appreciatively as he sat down and said out aloud
Kunal: Hmmm, smells good. Hope it taste good as well Mrs Chopra.
Siddhil looked at him fuming: Hello mister, I not a bad cook. I can cook very well unlike you who can only cook pasta for ex girl friend.
Kunal smiled and helped himself to the sandwich and drank his tea.
Siddhi: Kunal , I am waiting...
Kuna looked at her in surprse : You dont have to wait on me.
Siddhi: No I meant, you told just now, you'll tell me what happened yesterday night... you know abt me pawing you..and us..totally unbelievable. Anyway, tell me...
Kunal l Oh that! Such eager enthusiasm ! I like it. . Ok, brace yourself. You are not going to like it.
Siddhi: Already I am not liking it...
Kunal looked crestfallen and hurt : Are you tellling me that i am a bad lover?
Siddhi: How can I tell when i dont even recall what I did and anyway I dont have much experience on these matters. I only had one experience and that was some time ago...you know that.
She stopped and looked horrified at Kunal of what she had just blured out . She was so embarrased now. What he would be thinking about her outburst? That she was desperate and oh why couldn't she have just shut up and remained silent.Let bygones be bygones. Now she has given more reasons to him to taunt ..mock her...mercilessly.
Kuna looked at her in surprised and looked at her with desire in his eyes: So it was long time ago was it?. I could always refresh your memory. How about we go upstaris now and I show you...
Siddhi was mortified. : Kunal , stop it! Just tell me what happened last night.
Kunal just heaved a deep sigh : Siddhi, relax, nothing happened. I was just teasing you...
Siddhi; You are so incorrigible! How could you lie on such things? You were making fun of me and laughing at my discomfort! You are just too much.! There's a limit you know...
She turned away from him angrily and walked past him. Kunal caught her hand and pulled her to him.
Kunal cooed : I am sorry, Siddhi. I wasnt making fun of you. Belive me.
Siddhi took a risk and looked at Kunal. A smiling Kunal . She pretended to be affected and turned her head towards the window, at the distant meadow. Actually nothing registered except this man holding her hand. tenderly
She heard Kunal taking a deep breath and he arms went around her hugging her to him.The breadth of his muscular chest crushed her.Her head swam, her legs trembled violently and her hands clutched his waist to steady herself.
He said above her head with his chin resting on her head : I just wanted to see you expression. I am sorry.
Siddhi was in heaven... a broad chest , a safe place where she wanted to be always. God know how long they stood there hugging each other. Suddenly they heard someone coughting so loudly that could wake the dead. Both of them turned gulitily and looked at the intruders who broke their little interlude...
Shipa, seema, Raj and Gaurav looking at them with stunned expression and their mouths open...
Both moved away hurriedly and walked out of the kitchen.
Siddhi changed into a pair of tight fitting stright cut jeans. Wore a silky long low neck blue sleeveless silky chemise and covered it with a three quarter sleeve beige trendy beige coloured jacket over it. She chose high heels strappy heels .
Kunal was reading the morining papers and turned just in time when Siddhi walked down the stairs. Again, he was shocked to see the transformation of Siddhi in modern clothings. She looke so different. Elegant and beautiful. He liked the way she did her hari. The french pleated hair and the ligh subtle make up she had on. He was totally captiaved by her looks. He stood up and walked towards her when suddenly there was
The sound emitting from a powerful motor bike. Only expensive motor bikes had such poweful sexy sound. He wondered who it was. Did not have to wonder too long for the object of his thoughts that was disturbing him walked into the room and put him a jealousy mode .
Rakesh dressed in a white shirt and jeans looking totally relaxed and casual.
Rakesh greeted : Good morning Kunal. How are you?
Kunal : Good. A bit too early for a morning call arent you doctor?
Rakesh: Actually I am here to pick Siddhi up and meet our friends at the country club. Didn't she tell you?
Siddhi has now reached downstaris and was standing beside Kunal and looked at Rakesh in surprise and said that
Siddhi: Oh you did not have to do that. I could go there by myself.
Rakesh: No, dont' worry about it. Anyway, I was thinking about it yesterday night. They are my friends as well. I wanted to see them too. That's why I wanted to suprise you this morning..
Kunal knew what his guy was doing. What game he was playing.Yesterday he let him take his wife. But he's noone's fool now. He's not going to let him manipulate Siddhi into taking her with him. And how dare he? Did he expect him to sit back silently and watch him and his wife riding on his motorbike into the sunset, waving goodbye. He wanted to act like a caveman and lock her away to keep her safe in the house, away from other guys. But that would be utter madness and fortunately his brain knew it , so that while his hands clenched into poweful fists of restaint, seething with frustrations that threatened to choke him, he called for self control, he dont know from where.
Rakesh, was now leading Siddhi outside and showing off his Harley Davidson Bike and Siddhi was admiring but looking very apprehensive.
Rakesh: Siddhi, you dont have to worry, This is safe. Kunal , I will return your wife back to you safe and sound.
Kunal said with a deadpan look : Hey thanks Rakesh, I really appreciate your concern and the trouble you took to offer my wife a lift.
Rakesh said with almost a relief : I knew you will understand...
Kunal interuppted Rakesh : I have not finished yet. I mean, thanks for the offer but I will take it from here. I will take Siddhi to the country club to meet her friends. Besides, its too dangerous for her to ride in the motorbike as you know she has been shot recently. I do not want to take any unnecessary risk by her riding on motorbike in this rough country side roads.
Rakesh mumbled something, now started to look a bit angry but he restained himself, like a perfect gentleman, before anwering to Kunal:
Rakesh: Of course, Siddhi's health is more important. So yes, by all means send her there. I will meet your guys there.
Kunal said cunningly : But we cant have you riding alone in this spactular bike . You'v have come this far and it wouldn't be nice to let you go alone. Why dont you take Shipa with you?
Rakesh looked in horror and gulped in air which nearly choked him. But by then Kunal did not give him a chance to answer. He had walked into the house calling Shilpa. Shipa was thrilled to bits and went on to change into a more suitable attire.
Kunal winked at Shilpa when she joined them . He whispered to Shilpa : Shipa, here's your last chance to ride with Rakish dashing Rakesh before your marriage. Hop on and enjoy.
Kunal was laughing silently at Rakesh who now climbed onto his bike and an excited Shilpa clutching him tightly around his waist. Kunal smiled at both of them an waved goodbye.
Kunal turned his darkly handsome head back to Siddhi, eyes as black as pitch in the sunlight and glinting with some emotions she could not fathom
Kunal : Ready? we can leave now. Lead me the way Madame Chopra,
With that he grabbed her hand possesively and almost marched her towards his car as if she would escape..
Siddhi realized now she married a manipulative man who had intelligence that kept him several steps ahead of his rivals in his profession. Her husband was certainly a clever, shrewd guy and he was pushing her buttons and making her feel things, she did not want to feel again...
Siddhi had no choice but to follow him helplessly... and she thought, this man of hers was sometimes to hard to understand...she started to fall in love with him all over again.
