Sonam, Sonakshi, Arjun Kapoor - are all examples of 'heavyweight' star-kids who had to dial-it-down for a B-Town debut. Is the industry too prejudiced about all that appears good-looking? Does acting ability really matter; and are these the right parameters to gauge 'star-material'? This week, Bollywood Big Story debates whether Bollywood is too obsessed by fake beauty. Here's what filmmaker Milan Luthria had to say, "Being fat is fatal in Indian cinema. We get too consumed by the definition of beauty imbibed in us."

Producer Mukesh Bhatt offers another perspective, citing an example, "I don't think Katrina is the most talented actress, but she's beautiful and hardworking, that's why she's at the top."

Beauty = wafer thin + sex appeal + link up with costars + wear skimpy clothes and most imp should be a firangi or look like one and a nangi firangi will be cherry on the top

bollywood's obsessed with pseudo charisma and its plumptious beauties are obsessed with wig transplants, rhinoplasties and lip augmentations.

Bollywood is obsessed with beauty😲...or is the Indian audience obsessed with beauty?? 😆😆 I think its us the audience who force Bollywood to go after the beautiful...

For example...look at this forum...how many times has Vidya been called fat...there is a whole thread dedicated to her weight🤣...How many times have people commented on Aishwarya's weight?

And Shahrukh...how many times has he been called a dried raisin? How many times have people made fun of Salman's balding head?

So lets be fair...Bollywood shows us what we want to see...no use blaming them...

Will some one appreciate someone of Meryl Streep's age here...I don't think so...so talent is not needed in Bollywood movies...the day Vidya emerges as the numero uno in BW...beating the barbies like Katrina and Kareena...i will say we r almost there...till then if u want to see talent...watch a Meryl Streep movie...otherwise Housefull 2 toh hai he..😆😆

out of the three pre-reqs . PC only has one.. the body! guess you must need something else to make it. like her good luck charm from the start.. srk. or instant sucess.. salman

Why import the Hollywood ones to this thread? You' wont get any incentive for that. India still has alot of talent. How about Bipasha Basu? She's a lethal creation.

Aruna Irani still continues cuz its talent prevailing over beauty any day, perhaps eternal. One reason for why Sridevi and Madhuri are still awaiting their comebacks.

Beauty is always shortlived, and the day B'town acknowledges the fact we'd all witness an apocalypse.

Of course Aruna Irani is still there...but doing what? ...the maa/behen/bhabhi roles? Will some BW produce have the guts to make a movie using her as the leading lady?...Dilli bahut door hai...issliye HW ko import karna zaroori hota hai...for comparison sakes...talent bahut hai India mein...lekin uss talent ka aachar pad raha hai...actors like OmPuri, naseer, arshad warsi, Shabana azmi have all been side lined...and I say it again...that BW is a sommercial , profit making industry...not a charity...they will show us..what we want to see...
