- Geet's interpretation of the first scene is brilliant. Could I offer my interpretation too? Its a different angle to look into it. Taking the key to be Arnav's Love for Kushi. This scene of today is parallel to a set of scenes that took place after Lavanya had left and Arnav had learnt of Kushi's broken engagement (i.e, everything that includes the Sangeet, Mehandi, Haldi, etc.) Shyam was especially disgruntled that Arnav and Kushi were falling for each other (when Arnav tells Kushi on the fatal morning that he wants to tell her something, remember Shyamwa's expression?). Shyam was trying very hard to get Kushi for himself and was thoroughly irritated that Arnav was possibly harboring feelings for his target. It was in this phase that we saw him trying all the scientific and mechanical accidents to kill Anjali off. This can be presented in the way he was impatient to have Anjali disappear from in front of Arnav's room today (What are you doing here? Why don't you go? Give me the juice, just GO!!). His entry into the room and searching is his struggles to get a hold of Arnav's heart. But Arnav was oblivious of this, he was lavishing in the thoughts (in the shower) of his and Kushi's love...Then Shyam finds the wallet. (This is the writing on the mirror.) He uses this chance and Kushi is upon the scene. However, Kushi does not know his real intent. His words disgust her further and she wants him to leave but he is adamant to stay there. They struggle and the juice spills on Arnav's wallet. This is the terrace hug which Arnav sees. You see by saying that the juice was spilt on the key I'm saying that Arnav's love for Kushi was messed with. If you'll see the scene, you will notice that Shyam deliberately threw the juice onto the wallet. The wallet was far way and the throw was intended to fall on the wallet because the clever snake knew Kushi will take out the contents to dry them. Shyam uses her and Arnav's absence to collect the imprint of Arnav's key (here meaning the secret of their marriage) which was told to him by a unaware Kushi (Kushi left the wallet outside unaware of Shyam's goal).
- Another thing that caught my notice was the 'key' itself. Of course, it's the key to Arnav's material wealth. But didn't he often say that money was his life? So, we can club the two equations and say that the key was that of his life. Now this brings us to the parallelism of the 'manat ki chabi' which we saw in the first few episodes of the show. Kushi was its "safeguarder" and she is the one destined to unlock the child in his heart. To set free the 'child under bondage' within him. It was on the day of their "badagement" that Arnav was returned the key and he had thought of throwing it away but didn't. Now they are married and once again a key has come to play an important role in their life...What will become of this key?
- When Kushi lay on the floor and said, over my dead body...I was reminded of the pool scene where she is on the other side, holding the fake divorce papers and telling Arnav if you have to come to get them, you'll have to swim to me. Both these places, Arnav has a better option to take: I can go around too!! For everything Kushi puts forward, he decides to ignore and take his own stance. He decides to go around it. Every question she asks, he ignores and goes around it. Every emotion she instigates in him, he ignores, and goes around it. How long will you keep going around, Arnav, until you stop to focus on the neglected one before you?
- The kerchief and the kiss. Now, what symbolism can one draw here? What I saw was that the white handkerchief stood for Kushi's innocent pure heart. She sealed it with a kiss and gave it to Arnav. But he was not bothered and tucked it into his pocket. Meaning, he didn't mind if she trusted him with all her heart and hurt her badly even by ending up marrying her against her wishes (in his pocket). Now, it's the employees in his office who noticed the kiss on the hanky first. Meaning? Anjali and Nani and all the others associated are the ones who see Kushi's love for Arnav and point it out to him for him to notice. On Friday, Anjali said Kushiji takes so good care of you...And today, Nani said, Kushi bitiya is concerned about you too, so she wants you to accompany her to the sasural...it is when others point out, that he pointedly notices.
- Okay, I'll stop with this last point. Since today was a foundation for the "Sasural Track" and we saw a glimpse of Garima, I was reminded of the marriage night when Garima's slap on Kushi was what permitted Arnav to realize that the Gupta's were gravely hurt by the secret marriage. So, will their stay at the Gupta's house, show him a way in which their marriage is wholeheartedly accepted by Garmia, as a representative of the others too?
Sorry, I'm short of time to make a good post. Sorry Lovely, no pointers again... Just a short one today...
