Prologue: A silent panic rose in the pit of his stomach when he saw his house submerged in darkness. He had gotten late at school given how it was the last day of the school year. He tried consoling himself that they weren't home because of some sort of emergency but knowing his mom, she would have at least left the front porch lights on. The happy family of four were facing the toughest time of their lives when his father's company went bankrupt. His father, the owner, felt immensely responsible for running few hundred family's income and thus had resorted to drinking which had in turn led to depression.
The once happy family was now walking on eggshells around one another and avoided eye contact; as if looking in the eye would make the nightmare real.
He knocked on the front door out of habit even though he didn't anticipate a response. Surprise shot through him when he found the door open. He switched on lights in trepidation the silent panic now returning tenfold. He walked inside the house praying that his paranoia was just that - paranoia and his parents had just forgotten to lock the front door when they went out.
He called out for his mother, his father and then his sister. The house echoed those names back to him. He opened his parents' bedroom and walked in blindly as if he was in a hurry to find the burglar who probably had broken in. His stride was broken when he bumped into someone making him scream loudly and fall back. He could feel his legs trembling as he scampered to switch on the lights.
He screamed again, louder this time, at the sight of his father hanging himself from the ceiling.
He found his mother and sister on the bed, seemingly asleep but he knew that wasn't so.
His screams were endless and it pierced through the darkest night of his life.

He stayed with his neighbors for few days before taking off from their home in middle of night. The seventeen year old boy was a brilliant young man who had a promise of bright future. He had used his affluent family background to his advantage in various aspects of life - be it in academia or in learning classical music. His father had taught him basics of finance and economics by taking him to the field at a very young age.
Before running away, he had paid one last visit to his childhood home. He needed things from his home which would help him to plan the rest of his life. Things - photos, documents, few books, his violin and his sister's antique music box. Most of the items were confiscated by the bank to pay off their debt. But the most important thing he wanted to collect from the house was his father's diary - the book which would help him to take revenge on those who had wronged his family.
He would make them pay. He promised himself when he turned around to take a final look at his childhood home. It would be the last time he would see for many years to come.
