Sorry I wasn't there for two days. Slight problems at my place and couldn't make it to the virtual world...Since its still Sunday and though I hate making late posts, I thought I'd do it for those who may want to have something to do if there are no new spoilers or bashers to keep you busy...And of course, this post is especially for my friends, who wanted to know my thoughts and but I would like to know your thoughts after reading this...
Regarding Thursday's episode:
Everything I wanted to say, Geet mentioned in her post, and she said more too. I simply love how she digs deeper.
Two other things I noticed in the epi:
Kushi was on his bed when he was lying in it, twice. Especially the second time: he was almost lying on it, staring up at her in the morning, and she had her knee on his bed and the rest of her body hovered above the bed, almost making that 'two people' in one bed. Looks like the curse of Shyam's "cursed roses" which he had laid on their bed prior to the Suhag Raat are wearing off... It had stared wearing of the Honeymoon night they had fallen together onto it, of course!
He actually answered her question. After the last time he had fainted and he had nodded to her question of "Aap teek hai?", he was prone to avoid answering her every question. Every time, he was struggling to not answer her:
"Why did you buy these bangles?" Zip!
"Farak padta hain!" "Kyun?" "Kyunki..." Zip!
"Hamesha? Hamesha kya?" Zip!!
"What hurt have I caused you?" ZIP!!
"Why did you marry me?" ZIP!!!!
And many more relevant questions, the answers of which would mean the end of misunderstanding, the realization of love and consequently the ending of our show...
LIQUIDS and LIES
This is Friday episode's analysis. And to me, it seemed that the number three ruled the show again.
DANCING DIALOGUES
TRAFFIC LIGHT IN THE KITCHEN
Three lights on the traffic light, of course and we found them in the Raizada kitchen today. Red, Yellow and Green. Or in other words, Stop, Wait and Go...
Green: Is that the sound of snoring?
Yellow: Nods
Both look behind them.
Red: (AT STOP) sleeping, snoring standing...
Both: Red? Why do you snore?
Red: (wakes up.) *yawn* Because I'm very sleepy.
Both: But why?
Red: I loaned my sleep to my husband...
Yellow: WAIT you didn't sleep for him? How sweet...you should do this every night!!
Green: GO FOR IT! And every morning I will give you tea if you spend every night sleeplessly...Oh and if you can give this to Bubbly.
Red: *yawn* Why can't you give it to her?
Green: She will be flirting with my husband and she does it so much better than me that I get jealous...
Red: You're Green already.
Green: I know...So what say, you GO for it?
Red: *yawn* I think I'll just STOP right here.
Yellow: WAIT! I'll make tea, you go to Bubbly and learn how she does it better than you...
Green: Good idea! I'll watch and learn from the little chit!!
SCRABBLING FLIRTS
Three females flirting with weak-spine Akash...
Introducing: Miss P, Miss M, Miss B, and Miss A...eh, sorry Mr A
Ms B: You're A.D.M.I.R.A.B.L.E, my Hero...*flutters her 9-year old eyelids*
Mr A: blushes
Ms P enters and breaks their romance.
Ms P: Fodder for the cow! (And gives Ms B, her food.)
Mr A: Ms P, play with us.
Ms P: Me? Play? Can I?
Mr A: Yes, you're C.U.T.E
Ms P: blushes
Mr A: blushes
Ms B munches on her fodder, watching
Ms M enters
Ms M: Scribbling on my son, everyone?
Ms B: Scrabble with us, Massi, we're going nuts on him anyway
Ms P begins to arrange a word
Mr A: What is it?
Ms P: It's a four letter word
Mr A: Beginning with L and ending with E?
Ms P: Guess?
Mr A: *head steams up* Eh...Line? Late? Or Lame? Like me?
Ms P: shakes her head
Ms B: munch-munch-crunch!!
Ms M: *scratches her head in thought*
Ms P: Its L.O.V.E. (And looks at Mr A.)
Mr A: blushes.
Ms P: blushes
Ms M: I wanna play too!
Ms B: *Flirting or Scrabbling?*
Ms M: It's a Hindi Word.
Ms B: What does it mean? *munch*
Ms M: Blood on her Leg.
Ms B: Whose? *munch*munch*
Ms M: The Green one that bought the cow fodder!
Ms B: nods, munching
Ms M: And you know what? She's trying to win your heart by feeding your stomach...
Ms P: I can explain. She wanted to flirt with my husband so I thought I can feed her while she's flirting so that she can save time...
Ms M: You see, Ms B? She's feeding you till you fill like a hot air balloon...
Ms B: *munch* I like balloons...
Mr A: You will look good like a balloon
Ms M: Come, my balloon...Mr A is useless, he's got eyes for only Miss P. Maybe Mr A.S.R might fall for our flirts, he's not too interested in his wife these days...
DIGGING DEEPER
LIQUIDS
Three liquids played a prominent role in the episode. Oil, Tea and Water. Let's decipher each in the context of the major characters we had:
WATER
I've already stated why Kushi is the water in an earlier post. I am not going to repeat it here but if you want to re-read it, try the link to it.
Adding to those points also, according to Volney Gay (a professor of psychiatry), "Water symbolizes transformation... Drinking water can symbolize internalizing these transformational moments."
In this scene we see Kushi handing over the medicine to Arnav and he takes it along with water...To cure himself (medicine) he definitely needs her love (water)...
OIL
Coming to Oil. Putting oil on one's head is usually referred to as anointing.
The origin of anointing was from a practice of shepherds. Lice and other insects would often get into the wool of sheep, and when they got near the sheep's head, they could burrow into the sheep's ears and kill the sheep. So, ancient shepherds poured oil on the sheep's head. This made the wool slippery, making it impossible for insects to get near the sheep's ears because they would just slide off. From this, anointing became symbolic of blessing, protection, and empowerment.
A person was anointed for a special purpose...to be a king, to be a prophet, to be an builder, etc. The oil itself does not have any power. It is only God that can anoint a person for a specific purpose. If we use oil, it is only a symbol of what God is doing.
Another meaning for the word anointed is "chosen one."
Now, we also know that oil and water, generally do not mix together. They just cannot be friends. While water often mixes with other liquids to form solutions, oil and water does not. Water molecules are strongly attracted to each other, this is the same for oil, because they are more attracted to their own molecules they just don't mix together. They separate and the oil floats above the water because it has a lower density.
However, there is a way to mix them. Detergent or dishwashing liquid can be added. Detergent is attracted to both oil and water because one end is hydrophilic (or 'water-loving') and sticks to water and the other end is hydrophobic and sticks to oil. When we add detergent to oil and water and shake the mixture, the liquids are held to each other by the detergent molecules and form an emulsion. An emulsion is a stable mixture of two or more liquids that would not normally mix.
Now, let's get to deciphering. Arnav is the Oil. Not because he had oil put on his head alone but because he rightly shares the properties of oil. When Kushi anointed him, she is unknowingly protecting him from the evils that are entering his ear through Shyam. Also, by the very fact that 'she' is anointing, she is choosing him to be the one who will act as the "king" or "builder". Now since Arnav is afraid of love and loving, he is lower in its density (but actually he is deeper in it). Kushi is too focused on her molecules and Arnav on his own molecules that they just do not give in to the other. So he always messes up with Kushi to end up being on the top and her below (not gutter position, mind; its just that 'he always wins and she loses' theory).
Now, detergent is attracted to both oil and water. Who is the detergent? Could be anyone...I don't know if Bubbly will be because for now, she is not attracted to either Arnav or Kushi. So who is attracted to them both? Almost everyone is attracted to Kushi. But who is attracted more strongly to Arnav ? Nani and Anjali; in which Anjali is more strongly attracted. So she might be the detergent that forms an emulsion.
There's a song on Oil and Water which I've quoted below. Maybe you will understand this more once you read it.
TEA
First a look into the key properties of Tea.
Japanese believe that tea is a "most wonderful medicine" and "the secret of long life." Spiritually, according to them, it helps to purify the soul, boost endurance and build a string spirit. The great 20th century tea master Hounsai Soshitsu Sen, "In tea, we purify things we can see and seek catharsis in the process. This way, the sense that one is being healed returns..."
Come to the show now. Anjali is the Tea. She connected with Arnav and Kushi with her Tea dialogues. It was she who first told generally that Chotey is better now and he needs some tea. After a few TRAFFIC SIGNAL dialogues, we see Kushi remarking to her that she needs to get Arnav some tea. As soon as this dialogue is uttered, we find Anjali catching Arnav's attention and telling him that Kushi is coming with tea, thereby preparing the husband for his wife's entry to the poolside. The part where we saw Tea purifies vision: we know how Anajli cleared Arnav's thoughts towards Kushi and earlier Kushi's actions towards Arnav (which ended up in the Swami epoch). There may be much more to come but as always Anjali is vital to the love realization of the two.
LIES
Three lies of the show:
Arnav's Lie
Okay actually what I felt his lie to be is his way of trying to let neither of them sink into love. "You have selected the best person to be your wife," that dialogue of Anjali is what he remembers when he hears Kushi appear behind him with tea. He does not want her to take the wife-role so seriously because he doesn't want too much love shown. Neither does he want to see her softened because it is making 'him' weak. So, I believe his lie was intended to bring out the fiery, angry Kushi and throw away the 'wife idea'.
But that was what he was thinking initially. However when Anjali makes him realize his feeling for Kushi, he stops to stare at the "real" him in the mirror and wonder if what he is shown is right. Maybe I was unconsciously trying to defend her from guilt and not from loving me. Maybe the wall of immunity I was building was to not let her hurt herself. Do I really care so much for her? I think I do...Do I? Anjali (Tea) purifies his vision that was muddled with his own thoughts of being a shaatir Arnav Singh Raizada.
Anjali's Lie
Keeping silent about the truth is also a kind of lie. Anjali's breaking of the photo frame hence is a kind of lie. But it was so touching that the CVs showed us that the glass is broken only on Arnav's side, a huge slash on his image. Everything in life related to Arnav has been broken and Anjali has preserved it so. Why couldn't she change the frame? Put a new glass on? Because she isn't the healer? Then who is? Kushi? Will she cure his wounds? Will she replace the glass?
Shyam, The Lie
Ah, no doubts here. Lie personified. That's our Shyamwa. Missed him a lot through the week. That is why we could say that the week was "filler" though we can't call all scenes filler. But Shyam's entry marks the happenings in the plot. Him coming means, things are gonna happen!! So happy to see you, Shyam! And whatever you're up to, go ahead with it. We're watching. Oh and by the way, if he was trying to hide from Anjali, how come he hides in full proximity of her vision. Or did Anjali see someone else? Monday epi will give us the answers...
Like I told you there is a song called Oil and Water preformed by Incubus. Replace the Oil and Water with Arnav and Kushi and see if the theory works...
You and I are like oil and water
And we've been trying, trying, trying
Ohhh... to mix it up.
We've been dancing on a volcano
And we've been crying, crying, crying
Over blackened soles
Babe, this wouldn't be the first time
It will not be the last time
There is no parasol that could shelter this weather
I've been smiling with anchors on my shoulders
And I've been dying, dying, dying
Ohhh... to let them go!
Babe, this wouldn't be the first time
It will not be the last time
There is no parasol that could shelter this weather
Babe, this wouldn't be the first time
It will not be the last time
We've been trying to believe everything would get better!
We've been lying to each other
Hey! Babe! Let's just call it, call it, call it
Ohhh... what it is!
Oil and water...
Oil and water...
P. S. I may not be regular on the Forum always because of slight matters at home. But I would love it if you could update me on your thoughts of each epi so that I can relish them when time permits me to visit the Forum...I always love listening to others' thoughts...
