COINCIDENCE can change life...
HI GUYS,
THIS IS MY FIRST SS .I have got idea of this ss from one of my friends so i decided to elaborate it in my own words
you will came to know about characters and character trait while reading it.
so here it goes ,ENJOY:
PART 1
I glanced down at my watch. 5:00 pm. Crap. I needed to get this paper done so I could make it to RIA's party on time. But first, I needed to stretch. I'd been sitting in the dingy little coffee shop for almost three hours, to get away from my noisy dorm room. I loved my roommate, but she could get a little irritating sometimes, especially when she insisted the only way she could possible study was to play the loudest and most obnoxious music available from her extensive music collection.
I stood up, stretched my arms and yawned. I'd been getting no sleep for the past few nights for some reason. I think I'm an undiagnosed insomniac, to be honest... or maybe I drink too much coffee. Either way, I was exhausted. I was thinking about getting another cup of coffee when suddenly, someone crashed into me. I didn't even have a minute to process what was happening and the next thing I knew, I had coffee running down my entire front side. Expecting an apology, I looked up into a set of deep brown eyes scrunched up in, surprisingly, frustration.
"What were you doing standing in the middle of the aisle?" The brown eyes belonged to a guy who looked like a college hunk, around my age. He was holding a tray that was holding two, now empty, coffee cups.
"Hello? I'm talking to you! What on earth were you doing standing in my way? You made my drop all of my coffee." The boy looked aggravated, at ME. Like this was my fault!
"Are you seriously going to blame this on me? Maybe you should have watched where you were going! My jeans are now drenched in coffee, thanks to your carelessness" I was actually pretty annoyed at the him. Now I'd be even later to ria's, because I'd have to drive all the way back to my dorm to change. Ugh.
"sweet heart Don't girls have a thousand pairs of jeans anyways? He said flirtingly with a smirk on his face. It's not the end of the world. I can't get any coffee now, because I don't have time. Thanks a lot." The boy was looking at me expectantly, like he was waiting for an apology.
I get irritated with his smirk and said "Actually, not all of us do. For the record, this isn't my fault. All you had to do was look up, and you would have seen me. But you're welcome for the coffee spill. Anytime!" No way was I saying sorry to him. I grabbed my laptop and backpack and stalked out of the coffee shop without looking back. Some people are so rude.
I decided this essay could wait, since it wasn't due for another two days anyways. I'd been hoping to get it done today so I wouldn't have to do it while studying for the huge final, but ria would shoot me if I didn't make it to her party. Ever since she got together with Arjun, she'd had her heart set on getting me a boyfriend so we could all hang out together and i don't feel left out. I'd been declining her invites to hang out lately, because I felt awkward being the third wheel. Don't get me wrong, I loved Arjun, but I could only take so much mushy romance. Anyways, she'd found the "perfect guy" for me, and she really wanted me to meet him at her party because she thought we'd get along well. I smiled, remembering the conversation she'd had with me.
"Look, Maanyata. I know you don't think dating is a valuable way to spend time, but you have to put yourself out there. I worry for you."
I laughed. "Ria, why would you worry for me? A woman doesn't need a man to-"
"To be happy and successful, etc,etc,etc, yes I know. But Maanyata, one date or two wouldn't hurt. Come on. You're stunning. Anyone would kill to date you."
I rolled my eyes. "Right. That's why I haven't been asked out in I don't know, forever? Ria, I'm not looking for a relationship right now. I need to focus on finishing college with decent grades. I don't have time to date. Who would date me, anyways?"
Ria looked indignant. "Maanyata, I swear to god, don't say that again. You know that there would be lines of boys waiting to date you if you'd just give them a chance. You hide behind your thick novels, baggy sweaters, and mugs of coffee and just assume no one would like you, but you don't see it. I know you. You're my best friend, and you're the best person I know. You're gorgeous without wearing a lick of makeup, your hair is naturally flawless, and you're ridiculously intelligent and funnily sarcastic.
I was smiling. "Aw, Ria, that's so sweet of you. But it's not true, all right? Sure, I'm sarcastic, but I feel like I'm more of a bitch than funny. I can't help it, it's a part of me, and I don't think anyone else could handle it. As for the other stuff, not true. If you saw what I looked like in the morning..."
Ria waved off my objections. "Just say yes to this one date, Manna. It's not even a legitimate date- he's one of Arjun's close friends from home and he's coming to my party. Just hang out with him, get to know him. It'll be fun."
I sighed. "Okay, fine, I'll do it." Anything for RIA
Ria squealed and grabbed my hands. "This is going to be so much fun!"
I came back to the present as the car behind me honked loudly. "god, it's been two seconds since the light turned green. Hold your horses," I muttered to myself and I started to move forward. I loved driving, except at rush hour. It was a huge pain. As I merged onto the highway, I started to mentally flip through my collection of clothing. I needed to wear something halfway decent to the party, or else Ria would kill me. That phrase comes out of my mouth way too often. I decided I'd wear my dark blue sleeveless dress with the lace. It was pretty nice, I think. It would have to do.
As I pulled up in front of my dorm, I figured I should text Ria that I would be a little later than I'd anticipated and not to wait for me. After that, I rushed inside and quickly put the dress on, brushed through my hair, put a tiny pit of mascara on, and grabbed an gray clutch that hopefully wouldn't clash with my dress. Not that I knew about any of that, but I'd been reprimanded by Ria enough times that checking for this kind of stuff had become a regular routine for me. I jumped into my car and starting driving extremely fast so I'd only be about a half hour late.
When I finally pulled into Ria's driveway, I grabbed her present off my backseat and ran inside. I burst through the front door and found Ria in the balcony. "I'm here!" I yelled acoss the entire room. Ria looked up and gasped.
"Maanyata!" Ria grabbed me and squeezed me until I could barely breathe. Not seeing you best friend of three years for almost a month does that. I handed her present, which I made her promise to open later in private. Suddenly, Arjun appeared by her side.
"Hey Maanyata!" Arjun flashed his award winning smile at me and I smiled back. He put his arm around Ria. "I'm glad you could make it. What happened?"
"I'm so sorry, guys. Some idiot spilled two entire cups of coffee down my tunic and jeans and then started yelling at me for 'being in the way'" Arjun looked at me sympathetically.
"Seriously? What a jerk. People nowadays." Ria shook her head. "But hey, I know what'll cheer you up. Guess who's here?"
I smiled, playing along. "Who?"
"Uday! Arjun's best friend from oxford. He's in the living room, I think. Here, I'll introduce you. Come with me."
Arjun looked at me and grinned. "Uday is a great guy. We ran track and played soccer together all of colledge and were pretty close. You'll love him, his sense of humor is exactly like yours."
I hoped so. I didn't know about the whole dating concept, but it would be nice to become friends with someone who finally got all of my wisecracks.
"Come on!" Ria tugged at my hand and led me to the living room. She walked up to a tall man in a denim jacket, turned around, talking to two girls. "Uday! Hey, this is my best friend who I was telling you about."
UDAY turned around and looked at me with his deep brown eyes. Wait... I'd seen those eyes before. The glimmer of recognition flashed in his eyes as soon as I realized who he was.
"YOU?"
