I have this feeling that Arpita had hard time in the family which Yash was aware of it but never took any action. Especially after when Yash made it very clear that Ansh is going home with Aarti. The way he was staring at his mother, with a little anger in his eyes.
I aslo think that Gayatri may not be as bad, its her weak ears that makes her bad. the way Buaji minipulates her, makes her bad. Still not able to judge Sasurji...
