I'm thinking that either he called Guru or Guru called him and told him Mrs. Vas wasn't at the party and he called Nanhi to find out or Nanhi called him directly as he instructed her to make sure her mom stayed home and didn't go to work or do any work at home. Then he may have called Karan to find out more info and found out that Prateek went with her.
