It all started with 300 Rupees (Part 2)

NEXT "last question Ms. Khushi, we have heard a lot about you and Mr. Karan, are you guys just business partners or there is more to that? Arnav stared at Khushi, shocked and jealous, Khushi replied, "Karan is the one person who has always believed in me more than I have believed in myself, he has always supported me, he has been there when nobody was, he has the best heart and I would actually like to request him to come on the stage and share this award with me. Karan, please come up." Khushi looked up…….

She saw Karan walking towards the stage, he was wearing black Armani suit (she knew this because he was always very into designers clothing, be it for himself or Khushi), he walked towards her, smiling, came close to her and winked at her with mischief. He came close to her and cupped her cheeks, asked "are you ok?" She nodded "yes", he held her hands and took her towards the podium again. She gave him the award and they were both holding the award at the same time with one hand each. He came to the microphone and said "thanks Khushi for this, looked at her and smiled". The reporter asked Karan "Mr. Karan Singhania, unlike Ms. Khushi, you come from generations of business family, how did your company decide to work with someone like Ms. Khushi?" Karan looked at Khushi and then at the reporter "it's called good business sense, Khushi is a very bright person with lots of innovative ideas, it's hard to overlook them" NEXT "Mr. Singhania, how did you guys meet?", karan replied, "that's a funny story, I met jalebi at my office, I mean Khushi, he smiled, I call her jalebi but that's whole another story, I was supposed to attend some meeting on my dad's behalf because he was sick, I was in the office and Khushi had an appointment to meet my dad with some business proposal. I saw her when I entered the office, she was sitting in the waiting area, looking totally different from everyone else, wearing her bright salwar kameez, braided hair and had mithai box, I was watching her from my cabin, she ate a whole box of jalebi within 10 minutes, that's where she gets her name from, anyway, I was shocked to see someone so petite eat so much. She came to my office to discuss her business proposal, I never had a meeting with someone like her, from her clothes to her attitude, she was one in a million. She gave her unique presentation without using any technology, she used origami, don't ask me how she did it but she did. After listening to her non-stop chatter for an hour and her unique presentation, there was no reason for me to say no to her.

NEXT "Is it true that you guys are dating?" Karan looked at Khushi, smiled and said "as soon as Ms. Khushi agrees, I don't see why not" and winked at her again. Khushi was embarrassed and mad at him for saying that, she looked at ASR who was now staring at Karan. NEXT, "Any last words about your merger?" Karan replied, "no, as long as Khushi is taking care of it, I am sure it will be successful." The host announced, "thank you everyone for attending this award show, please join for dinner and dance to follow, good night".

Khushi started walking, leaving the stage to go to her table, Karan followed her, she kept walking, she reached ASR who was sitting in the front row, she kept walking, karan yelled "jalebi, wait" and rushed towards her, held her hand and said "are you mad at me for saying that? You know I was just joking, it's not like I have said it for the first time, don't get upset today, you got your big award today, you should enjoy, c'mon, let's go to our table and eat something." He took her hands, right in front of ASR and pulled her towards the table. He pulled the chair out for her and she sat down as ASR was still watching them. He sat right next to her and started talking while she was lost in her own thoughts. She saw ASR walk towards her table, she was nervous, more like uncomfortable, he kept coming closer, he pulled the chair next to her and sat. Mr. Oberoi came to their table to greet ASR and congratulate Khushi. He informed Khushi that Mr. Raizada will be joining their table. Mr. Oberoi introduced Karan to ASR, they shook hands, then Mr. Oberoi introduced Khushi to ASR, "of course you guys met on the stage but I would still like to officially introduce you", ASR took his arms out to shake hands, Khushi just said "Namaste" and sat back down. Karan looked at Khushi, surprised, then back at ASR and said "don't mind her, she is little too traditional for people like us" and laughed.

Khushi was very uncomfortable sitting there. She started to get up and told karan "I will be back, I will get something to eat", karan pulled her back down on her chair, "you wait here I will get your food, what do you want to eat? And please don't say Jalebi, I don't think I can find it here, you have your Jalebi face on…" Khushi stared at him and said "no, I am fine, I don't want jalebi, I will eat whatever you eat, I am just hungry". She tried not looking at either one of them. Karan looked at ASR and said "so Mr. Raizada, are you in Mumbai for a while or leaving soon?", ASR looked at Khushi and said, " I was planning on leaving tonight but it looks like I might have to stay little longer to sort some things out". Karan told Khushi he will be right back with her food and left. Now it was just Khushi and ASR at the table. Khushi tried to look around to avoid talking to ASR, she started playing with her phone, she pretended to look for something in her clutch. ASR was watching her do all this, he knew she had no intention to talk to him, she kept digging in her tiny clutch trying to find something, that's when she heard "Khushi!". She froze, she couldn't move, she couldn't even continue to pretend anymore, she still didn't look up though, she stayed like that, her head down and her hands inside the clutch, like a statue, she heard him say her name again "Khushi!, how are you?"

That felt forever, like a lifetime, she finally looked up, looked at him, he was sitting so close to her. She saw him with anger, even she was surprised at how angry she was, she blurted out – "how do you think I am, can't you see? I am sitting right next to YOU on the same table as YOU at the same function as YOU, what does that tell you? How bad do you think I must have been? What does it look like? You thought I was going to die without you? You thought I won't survive without your so-called last name? Did you think that a middle class girl like me will rot somewhere for loving someone like youuu….?" She stopped, she had said too much, more than she wanted him to know. More than what she wanted herself to know
