The Sandhya –Suraj Saga in Diya Aur Baati Hum is working its charms on the viewers for the second time in a row and have garnered the no 1 place again with the AVG TRP of 5.50.The show which has made it to the second position is Saath Nibhana Saathiyawith an AVG TRP of 4.76.

The show which inspite of having a hard hitting story line couldn't impress the audience is Maryada : Lekin Kab Tak with the AVG TRP Of 1.4. '

this kind of comparison is I think like comparing apples to oranges

not sure about the diya show but i have seen SNS

one cannot compare the storyline the actors the twists etc in SNS to Maryada

in SNS the couples act liek they are participating in illegal child marriage in Maryada the average adult can relate to the plots and the stories of the main characters very realisitcally

I am sure the target audiences are different in such an instance how can the same survey base be used to check TRPs for both shows

cant compare maryada with any other serial...maryada is the best show ever ...

These shows have completely different target audiences like Hope said. The genres of the shows are worlds apart, absolutely no basis for comparison.

Also, these writers should look at the time slots for the respective shows before drawing a comparison. For something that airs at 11 PM, has a very intense storyline, this show seems to be doing perfectly fine, honestly.

What sort of criteria are TRP's based on. Sorry for asking this but I really do not know. Is it based only on forum votes, or they have some general criteria? Eg. based on storyline, credibility, character roles, messages depicted in storyline, etc.

As far as I know, SNS is just based on saas bahu drama and what the overall household (including in-laws of daughters) is going through.

Diya aur bati is a nice show but focussed on a certain community type

Maryada is an all-rounder, local, national and international theme focussing on reality and how we perceive social intricacies in everyday life.

Are TRP's based on morale of story or just how many people watch it or comment on it or how many active discussion topics the show has. Do they categorise discussion topics or just go by numbers despite seeing whether comments are productive or constructive or analytical.

I am not aware of how TRP works, so if someone could explain, then it would be much appreciated.

TRP is based on how many people watch the show.

Both the shows mentioned are saas bahu oriented so i dont need to say much about the audience.
Maryada has a late time slot and on top of that there are no promos whereas the promos of other shows are seen during almost every break.

Raqesh himself once said in an interview, it doesnt matter what the story is, as long as the timing is right the TRPs will be high. If Maryada was shown at 9pm then its TRPs would be high too.

In Maryada we dont see repetitive storylines which all the other shows have in common.

TRP basically stands for Television Rating Points measured using something called the People's Meter. TRP basically measures the number of people watching a particular show at a particular instance of time. It is measured randomly. Say, around 10 households out of a sample size of 15households have tuned into Maryada at around 11:16PM on a Monday, it needn't have to remain at 10/15 at say 11:25 on the same day or for that matter, any other day of the week. It is a random check on the viewership of a particular serial/program at a particular instance of time. Considering such things and some other factors, the TRP of a particular serial is calculated. The TRP of a show has no comparison to the actual number of people watching the serial.
