Episode 18: The Murder Of One
Elena drops by to give Alaric some food but Damon grabs it, without letting her in. Once she's gone, Damon, Stefan and Alaric get back to business-cutting down the wickery bridge board to make stakes of white oak. Alaric is forced to wear the ring again by Damon because they're going "vampire hunting".
Elena tells Caroline Alaric killed her father. But she explains how Alaric didn't ask for this craziness to happen. Matt, joins the girls and Stefan appears with a bag full of white oak stakes.
Klaus finds Finn. He tells him that he knows a witch in Mystic Falls who can undo Esther's spell and if Finn did not come with him, he'd dagger him and put him in a coffin again. Rebekah supports Klaus.
Stefan, Damon, Elena, Caroline are practicing scenarios while Klaus, and Rebekah use Sage to make Finn agree.
Elena, Matt and Caroline spot Finn and Sage together.
Then Elena calls Stefan who figures out that Sage is with Finn. Later, he discovers Rebekah had attacked Damon and Alaric. Damon she takes away and chains, bleeding him of vervain.
Turns out, Klaus's witch is Bonnie. When it seemed like Bonnie wasn't trying hard enough, Klaus uses Jeremy as bait since Kole was there where Jere is.
Caroline gives Alaric something gross to drink that prevents him from killing people. He then apologizes for killing her father. Caroline tells him that she's no better and she believes he can be saved.
Stefan wants to go ahead with the plan but Elena wants to save Damon. She tells him how if it was him in Damon's spot, Damon would rescue him but Stefan still decides to go kill an original without Elena.
Damon has a dream of Elena saving him. Damon cries out in pain when Rebekah stabs him and Bonnie wonders what happened. Then Klaus offers his help to find her mother if she does the spell.
Bonnie is doing the spell while Matt mixes vervain in Finn and Sage's shots. The 2 go after Stefan. While Sage holds Stefan back, Elena and Alaric stake Finn who dies.
Bonnie is about to help Damon but is reminded how he changed her mother. Bonnie then tells Elena she did the spell that unlinked them and she also tells them about Damon who's bleeding excessively. After hanging up, she starts to cry.
Suddenly Sage appears to kill Stefan but somehow they die. Turns out its because of the bloodlines. Finn's bloodline died [Sage, Troy] because he died. So if the originals were to die, all the vampires that existed would go extinct.
Stefan offers the remaining 8 stakes to Klaus and Rebekah for Damon. Klaus then forces Damon to leave which meant forcing himself out of the bars.
Elena and Caroline realize that Klaus can't be killed because then Tyler would die. Klaus after compelling Damon finds out there are 3 Stefan didn't bring. Rebekah releases Damon and tells Stefan to bring the other 3.
Rebekah is upset with klaus and how he doesn't understand what a family is.
Elena visits Stefan. Stefan tells her Klaus isn't worth it and he lost her in the process of it all. Stefan tells her he loves her but all he wants is her to look him in the eye and say that she doesn't feel anything for Damon. She tells him she doesn't know what she feels.
Damon wants a stake but the stake has disappeared. Alaric has no idea where it went...
