The cast, gearing up for changes in their characters, once the story moves 20 years ahead, are also asking for fat raises. If sources within the production house are to be believed, actors Ronit Roy, Hiten Tejwani, Shilpa Saklani, Gauri Pradhan, Tassnim Sheikh and Riva Bubber have planned to meet boss Ekta Kapoor, to ask for a fee hike. Said a Kyunki actor, "Yes, I am planning to meet Ekta. I will also discuss money, among other things." Shilpa's major role When contacted, Shilpa Saklani, who is reported to have a major role to play post the leap, said, "I haven't had the meeting yet, but I am going for it with an open mind. Balaji Telefilms has never given me any chance to complain, be it over money or any other issue. When I did Kkusum, it was only to gain financial independence, but the Kyunki team is like family and I am emotionally attached to the show." Any agenda for the meeting? "I am not going with any preconceived notions. I will present my side and hear what they have to say. It's all about reaching a consensus." 25 per cent hike due A source from Balaji, who works on Kyunki, said, "The hike will vary for each actor, depending on the characters. On the whole, there will approximately be a 25 per cent raise based on what the actors are getting at the moment. The hike will be anything between Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000." It is learnt that every character from the show's existing generation, will get raise. "The current actors will all be a part of the leap. There will also be new actors joining the cast after the leap," the source added. Insiders reveal that actors aren't willing to share the amount of his or her hike with the others. "A wait-and-watch approach is being used. Once a certain amount is confirmed, the actors will either accept that amount, or try and bargain for more. But at the end of the day, Ekta decides how much each person will get. In the bargain, don't be surprised if some members of the Virani family drop out," said another Balaji source. |
