Canadian cab driver in India

When I came to US and went for the driving test, I was nervous of passing the test through. Someone told me that if you have driven through Indian traffic, you can always pass the driving test in the Western countries as people follow traffic rules religiously. I was wondering if same was true vice versa as in the case of Teju.
