Chapter 3 - The Plan.
Next morning, Khushi followed Lavanya to her cabin and asked again, "So…what do I do?"

Lavanya picked up a file and answered, "You promised Mahi. Aren't you the one who always says that only promise when you can fulfill it? So do it."

Khushi sat down on the chair. "But you know why I'm hesitating."

"Babes, you can't run from your past all the time," sitting across from her, she continued, "And besides, India is a big country. Who said you have to go to Mumbai? You can go anywhere right?" she completed with a wink.

Khushi grinned at the thought of finally out-smarting her own child and got up happily. "You're right. Thank you so much la!" she said hugging her. She left the room just as fast as she had entered, but this time grinning and not bothered.

Just before she was to go home, her boss called her in her cabin. She said, "Khushi, we have a deal going on in Mumbai. Since you're our best agent in designing section, we want you to go and finalize the things. And don't worry, it's over spring break. You won't have to leave your daughter alone."

She nodded and came out of the cabin, again worried. She was excited that she could take Mahi anywhere in India. But now, she'd have to go to Mumbai. She had no choice. Lavanya saw her walking out of the cabin with a long sad face on.

"Hey, what happened?"

"Your plan failed." She replied.

Lavanya asked confused, "MY plan?"

"Yes, I can't take Mahi anywhere else but to Mumbai. Boss's order, I have to go there to finalize a deal."

"Awe, that sucks." Lavanya said and pulled her in a one sided hug. They walked out to the parking lot together. "Hey, don't worry. Let it happen. We'll see to the consequences later on. 'Kay?"

Khushi nodded and getting in her car, she drove away. On her way home, she remembered their first meeting. Arnav and her's first interaction…she was on her way to find her to be brother-in-law when she had ended up on the stage. The roughness with which he had handled her had horrified her and instantly, she had developed hatred towards her.

After that moment, whenever she came across him, she would give him taunting comments. After all, it was because of him that her sister's marriage didn't take place. She had wished to never see him again. But her fate… she would keep ending up in front of him all the time.

Over time, she had to work for him due to his 'threats' to hurt her family. Unwantingly, she did all he would ask her to and didn't realize when the hatred turned into love. His entrance in her life had created havoc for her family and herself. Every moment of it, she would despise it. She wouldn't want to accept that she was falling for him just because of his previous actions.

A year later, she blurted it all out when she was drunk at Holi. It was again his doings. He had purposefully mixed bhang in the thandai to see how she would react. He had been in love with her the moment he met her. Just at that moment, he was angry at her for destroying his show. That night, when he realized what he had done, he had created sympathy for her. That sympathy, that soon turned into love.

It was the same love that forced him to continue doing wrong things just so she would have no other option but to stay in front of him all the time. He enjoyed it and over time as she fell for him, he was there to notice it all. It wasn't until the day after that she realized how it was his plan all along.

At first, she had been mad at him. Then she realized that what he did wasn't wrong. He just simply loved her. It wasn't mean to harm anyone at all. No matter how harsh he is to others, there's a different Arnav that lives beneath the surface. The Arnav who loved her. The same Arnav whom she fell for. He couldn't be at fault at all. He couldn't be blamed for falling in love.

She agreed to the marriage when he, along with his family, came to her house with the proposal. The marriage took place with utmost celebrations, filled with music, happiness, love all around. It was the dream wedding she always wanted.

After opening the door to the house, Mahi jumped out of her bed and came out to hug her. Khushi let go of the past for the time being and hugged her back.

During dinner, Mahi asked, "Mommy, can we go to India?" the voice was so sweet and pouting.

Despite her doubts, Khushi nodded and said with a forced smile. "Yes darling. We can. You have to promise me something though."

Mahi stayed seated and asked normally, "What?" even though she was having a big urge of jumping up and dancing around.

"I have some work to do as well. So you'll be staying with Lavanya aunty. Okay?" Khushi replied.

Mahi asked, "La aunty is coming too?" Khushi nodded in reply. She remembered how she had convinced La to come with her as she was preparing dinner. She was on the phone with her and she used a bit of her emotional blackmailing drama to convince her to come with them. If she was to go back to Mumbai for a couple of days, then she was going to make sure she wasn't going with no support.

If she did run into anyone from the Raizada family, then she knew she'd have tons of explaining to do for just leaving like that in the middle of the night with no reason given to anyone.

Excellent update! I really loved reading it. You wrote brilliantly. I like the friendship between Khushi and Lavanya
