SNS glorifies Criminal Acts

I read a post on this forum where a member felt that SNS did not promote negativity but was reflecting Indian society and was depicting a true to life and realistic storyline.
This got me thinking as to what I felt about the show's message and whether I felt it was promoting negativity. When I started looking back at some of the tracks, I realized to my horror that the show not only promoted negativity but even glorified some horrible criminal acts.

I have enlisted some of those tracks that come to mind for the readers to ponder on:

1. A family takes in an orphaned relative, uses her parents pension for their own means, while keeping this child illiterate and made to work like a servant. - this is ROBBERY and CHILD ABUSE.

2. A lady swaps a winning lottery ticket and makes it her own, cheating the rightful owner of her victory. this would be ROBBERY

3. Putting chilli powder in Kajal. This can lead to some serious health issues.

4. Heating lubricant oil and then using it as hair oil. Lubricant oil is highly inflammable and could have erupted on the stove causing serious burns (even 3rd degree), if used on the scalp, this could lead to serious skin damage requiring hospitalization.

5. Breaking up a marriage so that you can take the place of the bride in a wealthy family thus securing a comfortable lifestyle. This is CHEATING, INTENTIONAL MISLEADING.

6. Anonymously calling a Mother to tell her her prospective daughter in law is pregnant with another persons child, with the intent of breaking up the marriage just to spite the rich family. This is also CRIMINAL.

7. Causing a family rift in a well adjusted joint family has a very negative moral value.

The list can go on and on, but in my opinion the basic fact remains that this show is not only promoting but glorifying negativity, moral and criminal acts.

What I is see is a crass and trashy mother/daughter duo who will stoop to any level to secure their own happiness and financial security AND are winning their war against a principled, caring and honest Mother in law/daughter in law duo. If this does not show that evil wins, I don't know what will.

I have stopped watching this show since the rift between Hetal and Kokila started and I know of quite a few people who have done so as well. I do read some posts on this forum to see what's happening.

These are my thoughts on the show and I am really saddened that a channel like STAR PLUS is telecasting it.

in my own POV: I beg to differ with you BIG TIME

I respect ur opinion about the bad things that havehappened and what not

BUT as with every serial there are tings that are negative: I can give yu loads of examples whre worse things have happened in other serials and they will be MORE worse than SNS,

ANOTHER POINT:::; I know we bash CVs and what not if we dont like the plot:: BUT THEY are CVs for a reason: and STAR PLUS takes on such serials for a REASON:: Definitely profit is a reason , but there are also moral values that come out of this::;

Evety story has a go around come around factor:: SNS has had those: FI the do ti fast and every bad gets reciprocate d byt GOOD: then whats the poitn of SNS being tehre in the first place, it would jsut be a bit of CVs talentless writing a script showing that good always wins over EVil::: SO to reciprocate this evil to Good, and show why EVIl is bad, it takes time::: ITS US AS VIEWERS who are different at interpreting things , I wont blame you for that::: But you need to understand that there are, there willbe, and have always been the good times shown, and also the bad people get a tase of their own MEDICINE:: this will happen and will keep happening:::

Showwind the effects of bad deeds, and kinds of bad deeds does NOT mean Glorifying bad acts:::: I knwo CVs go SLOW: but I am certain that they are not MONEY mad about money they make from writing this, but there also have personal MORALS::

AT end of it all: I is jsut on how a viewer digests and processes the information and what they make of it:: BUT I AM COMPLETELY against your notion of Glorifying wrong things +++ light at the end of a dark tunnel never comes easy::: think about it:: you saw Hetal koki rift: and gave up, DID you ever think of the good things about this Rift: and how it encompasses all bad deeds with potential to BURST all EVIL OUT once the rift is solved: ??

I detest how the CVs think that to win a battle with truth, you have to be completely truthful. Sure, that may be the saints' way of doing things, but I doubt it works every time. Even in the Mahabharat, where everyone had to pick a side, there were several times when the side of Truth used lies and deceit to win against the side of Evil.

The last battle between Bheem and Duryodhan was with maces and when fighting with that weapon, the rules say that you can't hit the mace below the hips. Here, Krishna urges Bheem to break the rules because their win will mean a greater good for a greater number of people.

In Saathiya, Koki and Gopi are choosing to battle against Rashi with only the truth. Why can't they mislead Rashi with a lie? Or rather, why can't they break away from the bonds of truth to fight against evil? Obviously, their method isn't a bit effective because Rashi is continuing to fly. 👎🏼

when it started a simple love story of a rich educated boy and a illitirerate girl ... I used to love watching the show to see what turn it would take... but in the last 6 or 7 months ,... i totally agree with you, the serial is trashy, negative and teaches how to " Break families" "new kalakaris" , how to marry into rich families... and utterly unrealistic crap!!!

Stopped watching,go to the forum once in a while to check f there is a change and not surprised that there isn't any change at all... its only gone from bad to worse@!

Thank you for your response Vinder90. I agree that what goes around comes around and that in the end good will triumph and all that. But what I see on SNS is ONLY evil winning. This is totally unacceptable to me.

I never suggested the CV's were doing this for money.

I did watch this show for more than 2 year tolerating all the 'kalakari's' and negative tracks, in the hope that there would be some retribution for Rashi and Urmila, there is no sight of that happening...
The rift between Hetal and Kokila was too much for me, so I stopped watching. I believe a lot of viewers feel the same looking at the way the TRP's have fallen from somewhere in the higher 6's to the upper 3's...

Your frustration is really understandable and it strikes a chord..

The one complaint is exactly the one you made.. UrShi seem to always get what they want and even if it means the good ones suffer, it happens... True. But remember that inspite of getting what they want they are shown neither happy nor satisfied.. 😊 So evil did not win.

But I think the creatives have done a good job in showing that inspite of all the bad things these two cook up, there is always hope for the good. Yes. Koki and Gopi seem to suffer the most and breaking a good joint family is awful. But the truth is retribution will come in its own way...

There is no eye-for-eye in SNS and if you are still hoping for that, I think it is better that you keep updating on the written updates. Sorry. But that is how SNS has worked till now..

Rashi will not get the same treatment she made Gopi undergo. But she will not get her happiness either .That is how she is being punished. Her dream of her own family will come true but like Hetal she will find that it is not actually what she wanted. That may lead to more kalaakaris. But then she is the villian

Yes. The lottery track and a lot of other tracks were obviously very cheap🤢 But that is how UrShi are. Cheap and evil. Now they will be at each other's throat for the lost money.

Look at the good things that have been shown. A love story has been developed that too a pure one even after all the suffering. Indirectly it was UrShi who brought Aham and Gopi together and it is going to be the Bhang that makes Aham realize and repent his past..
I am not saying that it is correct to show that evil wins.. All I am saying is that it does not.. Not from where I am standing from.. At the end of the day Rashi's dream of splitting the family is going to be the one that splits her from her husband. Her greediness will be her fall..

Sorry for saying this...But this has to be one of the most hackneyed responses I have yet come across...
NOTHING...and I repeat NOTHING in the world can justify wrong acts where the intention was also wrong...
Agreed that this is a story...Ficition...Serial...TRP's...etc...
What is wrong is and will be wrong... There is nothing to be learnt from broken relationships...the crack and bitterness always remain...
There was a movie sansar...it had one of the most beautiful and sensible endings... once the family split...it remained split...they got together for festivals and weekends...but they never got back again...
We can't say that since this show is giving us "LESS EVIL"...it is a good show and we can learn from it...
These shows are simply entertainment... there is no knowledge to be given or taken...

Very well set out OP! And i can understand your frustrations too. Having experienced very similar feelings myself. But for now i choose to remain the eternal optimist. One day urshi will go down. I wait for that day... To give up now would mean i have accepted the waste of my time thus far. And i am not willing to do that. Not yet in any event lol

i can understand what you are saying.
but i want to point out something. the whole thing is personal and not to hurt anyone
why do i watch this show.
it shows lot of negativity heart break
i want to leave stll i manage to come back.
b cos this mirrors the life story of my best friend.
she went through the same sufferings of gopi.
at least gopi has koki's love, aham loves her.
one day urshi will be exposed.
previously hetal parag and baa were there for her.
but this poor girl suffered without anyone's support.
mind you she is a masters in literature. she was forced to marry since her sister ran away on her weding day. she helped her sister.
her mother and father gave up on her. her husband and in laws were against her.
she suffered silently. to top it all her sister was forgiven and taken back by her family but not her. one day, he husband under the influence of alcolhol consumated. she became pregnant. no one believed her. finally, with the help of her grandmother she left for abroad and started a job. she lives happily with her daughter. as for that jerk, he married is under the thumb of his wife
sorry for my rant.
i just wanted to point out there is lot more negativity in the outside world.
the case of gopi is the story of cinderalla. we wait for the day she gets happiness
as for the crimes, the show is based on trp's. so these things had to be borne with

i completely agree with your frustration...

copy , paste my own**

people or forum members feel, that SNS is promoting negative thoughts,... is that what we need to learn? No, any form of art (movies, serials, plays) promotes goodness winning over evilness...

here in SNS also we are having both good and evil...it is based on your intellect, as what is affecting your thinking...if you are feeling too much negative impact from the serial, it implies you are letting/allowing the negative thoughts influence you..as it is more evident and easy to get influenced by evil..

but for once try to think from gopi's side, we have all the goodness in her... her patience, her honesty and her truth are what is bringing happiness in her life... Rashi, may be happy sometimes, but it is all short term and at the end, evil always faces the death...

i love the fact , SNS is very close to real life in characters... i loved the process of gohem falling in love... it's not a rain sequence or any dance which got them close..they showed the process of falling in love in a most meticulous and precise manner which was never shown before...

I love the way gopi's patience is paying off..Any medium brings out 2 sides of a coin... it's your conscience which will tell you what to take from a show... if your conscience lets you take bad from it... take the negative things... but no person's conscience will let you choose bad over good...

when we see rashi... people in general hate her because she has all the negative characteristics in her... it will show how a person should not be
when we see gopi... people love her because she has all the positive and good characteristics in her... it will show how a person should be

SNS is showing the same ... rashi being on the wrong side has never a peaceful day or night she is always on the run for more..and more... no contentment
gopi who is on the good side,,,is content in whatever she gets from life

Just as gopi embraces good and evil with least distinction between them... we need to take bad and good together ,,, but when you want to choose which one to follow, that is when your conscience comes into picture
