thinkin about you,
Thinkin about me, Thinkin about us,
What we gonna be? Open my eyes,
It was only just a dream.

Every minute felt as heavy as it was fleeting.
Weighted down as if gravity had only just caught up to it'
He had barely stepped inside the house, and already she was assailing his every sense.
It was as if every inch of his life was separated into two parts. Before Khushi. And after Khushi.
What scared him the most though, was that, he could barely remember the first.

back, down that road.
Will you come back, No one knows.
I realize, it was only just a dream.

She knew he was back before she turned around to him opening the door.
Normally, she'd turn away and pretend she hadn't been waiting up for him.
Normally, she'd let him smooth the hair back from her face while she lay curled up on her corner of the bed, and bite the inside of her lip to keep from calling out to him as he pressed a kiss to her brow.
Normally, she'd watch with lowered lashes as he would strip off his already half unbuttoned shirt and make his way to the shower, not bothering to close the door, as if he knew, she was too deeply in the arms of Morpheus to notice the soft slice of white light, or as if he believed that even if she did, she wouldn't dream of walking in.
Normally, she would wait silently for minutes that seemed like hours, as she imagined what would happen - if she did.

Normally, he would come out, his low slung trousers riding the harsh lines of his waist as he methodically dried his hair, his back to her, his soft worn t-shirt molding to his tense shoulders. More than mere tension, a burden he refused to share, and she'd wait for him to make his way to his settee as if intending to work'again, until he ran a frustrated hand through his tousled hair, and cast a furtive glance at her. A glance she would catch only courtesy of a strategically placed mirror'.a glance she craved to see for herself.
Normally, she would close her eyes, and wait, knowing with a knowledge born of habit, that in exactly two minutes, her laad governor would give up his everyday battle and go stand by the clear glass windows to the poolside and just stand there for, ever so long.
Normally, just as she would think she couldn't take the ache it created to hold herself away from him as he stood there silently looking up at the stars she's taught him he'd find his mother in, the slight shift of the mattress would be the balm to her senses.
Normally.
But then, none of that really was normal, now was it?

Didn't give you all my love,
I guess now I got my payback.
Now I'm in the club thinkin all about you baby.
Hey, you were so easy to love.
But wait,
I guess that love wasn't enough.

He had barely stepped out of his car when the dimmed overhead light of his bedroom caught his eye.
She was asleep.
His eyes raised for a brief second to the open star scarred sky as he stepped out of his SUV.
And for a second, he let himself stop pretending as he asked, the God he'd never seen-
Is this really how it's going to end?

Some people emoted through their eyes.
Some, through their voice, some through their expressions.
Arnav Singh Raizada emoted through a thought so raw, so vulnerable that for in that moment if stars truly had even a corner of humanity they would have dragged themselves down to this one man's feet .
No one deserved to hurt as much as he was.
No one deserved to die so many times in one moment.
No one.
Not even a man who would refuse to believe in God because of all the agony he'd suffered at his behest.
Not even a man who blurred the lines of right and wrong till all you would see was a steady stream of grey.
Not even him.

Now you ain't around, baby I can't think.
I shoulda put it down. Shoulda got that ring.
Cuz I can still feel it in the air.
I see your pretty face run my fingers through your
hair.
My lover, my life.
My baby, my wife.
You left me, I'm tired.
Cause I knew that it just ain't right.

He turned around his eyes once again a mask of indifference as he looked inside the room.
Five days.
Four nights.
His hand clenched ineffectually by his side, as his eyes latched on her own.
She was awake.
And somehow he couldn't help the wave of disappointment that swept through him.
Because that meant that was one less night, that he got to shift up on his elbow and let his eyes take in her every soft breath as she pretended not to notice him in bed beside her.
It meant that for one night out of the measly four he had left, he didn't get to drown himself in her.
Even if he knew she was only asleep for the last few hours.
Even if every time she flickered her eyes ever so slightly when he ran his hand down her cheek, she reminded him that she was only pretending.
Or rather because.
Because each minute she pretended, was a minute she let him hold her, let him watch her, let him love her as he so desperately wanted to.
His eyes still drowning in hers, he stepped inside.
